Thanks

Hi Raja,

We are trying to do a three node setup following the steps mentioned in
http://www.opencontrail.org/rdo-openstack-opencontrail-integration/ .

We have till now achieved the below:

1. Created three VMs with RHEL 7.2.
2. Installed RDO Openstack Controller using Mitaka (single node setup) in one
VM.
3. Trying to setup OpenContrail controller on second VM (Encountered with
errors,trying to resolve the same)
4. Trying to setup vRouter on the third VM. For this I have setup a Repo (as
mentioned in the link above) but still I am unable to install the packages
mentioned in the link for ex. contrail-openstack-vrouter, contrail-vrouter etc.

I am unable to understand the link/dependency of Opencontrail Vrouter Compute
on Opencontrail Controller. Please guide me if I am following the right
approach or suggest me the correct approach.

You will need the control plane and other modules. You can probably start with
https://github.com/Juniper/contrail-installer

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I am able to resolve this issue.
I have also completed all the steps mentioned in the document - "
https://github.com/Juniper/contrail-vrouter/tree/master ".
My final ouput shows scons: done building targets .
Also attaching the images of the compiled code.

Can vrouter be installed and run standalone on a system or does it runs only
after integration with opencontrail and openstack?
Any document or link for installing and running Opencontrail vrouter will be
appreciated.

Are you able to follow the symbolic link? If not, please try “scons

As with all clustered software: you would want to run with at least 3
(Cassandra) nodes for quorum reasons.

There are probably some Cassandra settings you can tweak to make it functioning
when doing a 2 node cluster but I would not recommend using that in production.

Cheers,

One more observation,

In the DISCOVERY (http://localhost:5998/services), Collector service shows down
for 30 - 60 seconds during the switchover. Is that expected behavior?

Is there any reason why you are using 2.21, better to be with newer releases.

we have multiple stable releases after that.

In 2.21 the architecture is different, collector will establish one connection
to one cassandra server per generator. If that fails, it will retry the next
server. This is evident from the collector logs. It seems that you are getting
TimedOutException which suggests your single remaining cassandra node might be
getting overloaded.

If you check using netstat -anp for contrail-collector pid you should be seeing
connections to the 10.10.10.5 cassandra node.

Thanks

Hi Suresh,

cassandra supports active/active or cluster consisting of multiple active nodes
and hence we can provide list of IP addresses to contrail-collector.
contrail-collector simultaneously connects to all the cassandra servers and
will handle cassandra server failures.
