Re: Remove (experimental) from FlatLaf Dark

2020-01-16 Thread Tomáš Procházka

Found another minor issue with property color in auto-complete windows:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-3706

Anyway FlatLaf Dark is great, I was coding with it whole day and did not
found any major issue making me to go back to Darcula LaF plugin.

With regards.

Without wanting to tread on Eric's toes ;-) this is not actually "included"
in a release. We have standardized and unique links for each release that
are redirected at Apache end. We can point any release (including existing
ones) to new plugin portal at any time we want. It was considered for 11.2
at one point, although probably not worth it now.

+1 to having 11.3 and dev (daily builds) redirect to new portal as soon as
ready though!

Best wishes,

Neil

Is the plugin catalog from the new plugin portal going to be included as
an update center in the 11.3 release? It's my understanding that this
decision is up to the Release Coordinator.

I would like to encourage this inclusion. There are problems with the
old portal, and I'd like to move forward rather than pushing for fixes
in the old infrastructure.

Community-xml and transition

2020-01-16 Thread Sven Reimers
Hi all,

looking at the transition (
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Apache+Transition)

I find

*Done: *community-xml (2326 files) – comments passed to Milutin Kristofic,
who has processed them.

A further mention, in which donation this is planned to transitioned to
Apache is not to be found.

Can anyone elaborate? Probably it is supposed to be part of 5j?

Thanks

Hi again,

We have 83 source code sample zip files [1] referenced from the
tutorials, with simple examples, that we may want to add.

Do we want to redo then under the Apache License? Request Oracle to
donate these as well?

Thanks,
Antonio

Re: Any objections against turning netbeans.org OFF?

2020-01-16 Thread antonio

Hi again,

Some tutorials (see [1] for an example) point to source code zips (no
ASF headers) hosted at netbeans.org. These are small zips that add value
to the tutorials.

I'll try to enumerate these files and try to salvage them. Maybe we want
to create a "samples" repository for hosting these?

Thanks,

We already have a OSOUL service. Maybe we can upload the repository
there, and then redirect from bits.netbeans.org to that place (we're
already redirecting requests from Apache to Oracle infrastructure).

I would check that with Apache Infra whether something can be arranged
there. I have a feeling that archiving pre-ASF resources under the
old coordinates might be something that would be OK, as long as
they're not distributed via ASF infrastructure. Fairly sure similar
things must have happened before.

Hi Lars,
As groupid org.netbeans on central is own by Apache, I ask Infra. Maybe there
is a solution to have maybe not and we can go to your plan.

I think you can forget about Maven Central. As far as I remember they require
that you can prove that you own the name used as Maven groupId (reversed). My
plan is to host them under the exact same Maven coordinates as used at the
moment, and that would mean that Maven Central is not an option since I
obviously do not own 'netbeans.org'
(org.netbeans prefix on groupId). So my plan is to publish to GitHub Packages.
Or somewhere else.

Lars can you do that salvage? I'm not sure to catch them all.

I will ask sonatype for central.

If people outside Oracle would do this, that would be best and simplest (any

Re: Any objections against turning netbeans.org OFF?

2020-01-16 Thread Jiří Kovalský

Hi Eric,

we have only manually migrated the most precious Wiki pages and as
far as I know there is nothing planned to bulk migrate everything. In my
opinion it is not even needed but if anyone would want to host the
snapshot of the wiki.netbeans.org, we can create a MySQL dump and
publish it somewhere for download together with all images/attachments.
Should be just a couple of GBs.

Best regards,
-Jirka

Hi Jirka
  Very late to the thread.

Is there a way to backup wiki.netbeans.org ? We migrate a few page, but I see
missing one linked from apidoc.

If I'm right, turning off netbeans.org will also remove the following:
  apidoc from 5.5 to 8.2
nexus for netbeans and visualvm (the maven artefacts from 5.5 to 8.2)
some documentation in platform.netbeans.org or some .netbeans.org

Best Regards
Eric

And the NETBEANS-3569 issue has been implemented.

In my opinion, the new NetBeans Plugin Portal 3.0 is ready to replace the old
one. I hope you agree Ernie.

I believe that until [NETBEANS-3569] is resolved, the portal is not
ready for general usage.

It's fine for creating the update center catalog, but not for user
browsing or downloading.

Are there any Mercurial repositories [1] worth their backup before

Hi.

After a few months there seems to be no progress with Netbeans translations.

What news can be contributed to the matter?
What progress is made on the subject? Maybe it worked and I don't know ...

Yes, a few things that probably need rewriting, given some infra and
build changes. I did try and keep mostly up to date during previous
releases, but think it's useful for me and the new RM to talk through.

Eric, are you definitely RM'ing this one?

I'm tied up with client work this week, but can look at this one day
early next week - let me know a good time.

> It seems that travis is not ok may not be good to create branch release113 at
> the time.

I would still announce the freeze ASAP, with a [NOTICE] email -
started adding [NOTICE] after a few people said there was too much
traffic on dev@ and they hadn't seen it! Tag with milestone what
definitely needs pulling in, and put the next (see below) milestone on
others. And yes, probably best to branch when you're about ready for
first beta, and when Travis is mostly back working. Get used to
retriggering Travis, it's a flaky beast! ;-)

Last two releases I aimed to have beta builds every Wednesday,
although for various reasons didn't always manage that, more with
build changes in 11.2. If new RM / we want to continue that or
similar, we should perhaps document it? Regular weekly betas are good
for everyone anyway IMO.

> At the end, If PR not reviewed it will be for 12.0

Or 12.1 for some?! We might want to make both milestones available
now. Introducing radical changes in an LTS may not be the best
approach.

Speaking of LTS, now might also be the time to get the NetCAT team
reviewing test specs leading up to 12.0 too? At 11.3 freeze, major
features for 12.0 should be mostly there, and if we're to schedule,
freeze for 12.0 is only two months away now. :-)

Best wishes,

Neil

process. (I'm available on slack ASF or NetBeans)

It seems that travis is not ok may not be good to create branch release113 at
the time.

At the end, If PR not reviewed it will be for 12.0
