Hi all,

After a discussion amongst the Apache NetBeans community on the dev mailing

way.

Re: Apache NetBeans 11.0-vc3 Is Available for Testing!

2019-03-11 Thread Jose Ch
Hi,

I have a problem with this release when I tried to activate the Java Web
and EE plugin (image attached NetBeans-11) it displays "The plugin named
org.netbeans.libs.oracle.jsparser is needed and not found" this happened
with both the binary and source artifacts. I compiled the sources with
Oracle 8u202 and the command "ant -Dcluster.config=release", I used this
same JDK to run the compiled project and the downloaded binary. I also
delete my /home/.netbeans and /home/.cache/netbeans directories before
start the application with both the compiled and downloaded binary.

Also when I activate the Java SE plugin it activates but the status does
not change to activated (image attached NetBeans-11-2).

Jose.

Hi,

for one reason or another I've attempted to test the gradle plugin
from Attila with Netbeans 11.0-vc2 and came across a disturbing revelation.
Before attempting to install the "new" plugin I wanted to deactivate
the integrated Gradle plugin as I did not want to have two competing
plugins providing the same features. However in the process of
deactivating Gradle I was warned that the Groovy plugin will have to
be deactivated too due to it requiring the Gradle plugin.

This seems wrong.

I can understand that the Gradle plugin will require the Groovy plugin.
However the other way around I can not understand.

Comments?

Hi all,

After a discussion amongst the Apache NetBeans community on the dev mailing
list[1], voting on a PMC chair[2], checking the podling status page[3], and
working through the maturity model[4], I would like to call a vote for
Apache NetBeans graduating to a top level project.

Apache NetBeans entered the incubator on October 1, 2016. Since then, we
have announced 2 releases, nominated several new committers, participated
in conferences and events, have 99 contributors with 2,423 commits, and --
most importantly -- have grown and diversified our community. Apache
NetBeans is a healthy project that is already acting like an Apache top
level project, so we should take the next step.

If we agree that we should graduate to a top level project, the next step
will be to draft a Resolution for the PPMC and IPMC to vote upon.

Please take a minute to vote on whether or not Apache NetBeans should
graduate to a Top Level Project by responding with one of the following:

[ ] +1 Apache NetBeans should graduate.
[ ] +0 No opinion
[ ] -1 Apache NetBeans should not graduate (please provide the reason)

The VOTE is open for a minimum of 72 hours. Per Apache guidelines[5] I will
also be notifying the incubator mailing list that a community vote is under
way.

Thanks,

Geertjan
on behalf of the Apache NetBeans PPMC

Ok, I think we can handle that. (Unless we can guarantee the license header
won't ever change - which we can't, I think, it means we need to be extra
careful when using the datadirs, or better avoid using them, but that' we
can handle that, I think.)

Hi all,

After a discussion amongst the Apache NetBeans community on the dev mailing

working through the maturity model[4], I would like to call a vote for
Apache NetBeans graduating to a top level project.

Per Apache guidelines[5] I will
also be notifying the incubator mailing list that a community vote is under
way.

Thanks,

+1!

Great job by the whole of the NetBeans community, really great to see
how good and thoughtful you all adapted to and incorporated the "Apache
Way" mostly on your own with little (need for) help from us mentors.
For a super huge project like this, I think it is amazing how relatively
easy this all went, and you are a great example for an incubation
gone well.

Hi all,

After a discussion amongst the Apache NetBeans community on the dev mailing
list[1], voting on a PMC chair[2], checking the podling status page[3], and
working through the maturity model[4], I would like to call a vote for Apache
NetBeans graduating to a top level project.

Apache NetBeans entered the incubator on October 1, 2016. Since then, we have
announced 2 releases, nominated several new committers, participated in
conferences and events, have 99 contributors with 2,423 commits, and -- most
importantly -- have grown and diversified our community. Apache NetBeans is a
healthy project that is already acting like an Apache top level project, so we
should take the next step.

If we agree that we should graduate to a top level project, the next step will
be to draft a Resolution for the PPMC and IPMC to vote upon.

Please take a minute to vote on whether or not Apache NetBeans should graduate
to a Top Level Project by responding with one of the following:

[ ] +1 Apache NetBeans should graduate.
[ ] +0 No opinion
[ ] -1 Apache NetBeans should not graduate (please provide the reason)

The VOTE is open for a minimum of 72 hours. Per Apache guidelines[5] I will
also be notifying the incubator mailing list that a community vote is under way.

Thanks,

Geertjan
on behalf of the Apache NetBeans PPMC

More a curiosity thing...in the changes from vc2, I just see a window that says

Jira project doesn't exist or you don't have permission to view it.

View these issues in Jira

If I click on the link, I see:

A value with ID '12345794' does not exist for the field 'filter'.

Hi all,

After a discussion amongst the Apache NetBeans community on the dev mailing
list[1], voting on a PMC chair[2], checking the podling status page[3], and
working through the maturity model[4], I would like to call a vote for Apache

to a Top Level Project by responding with one of the following:

[ ] +1 Apache NetBeans should graduate.
[ ] +0 No opinion

The VOTE is open for a minimum of 72 hours. Per Apache guidelines[5] I will

Google Summer of Code 2019 Mentor Registration

2019-03-11 Thread Bertrand Delacretaz
Hi NetBeans PPMC,

Google Summer of Code 2019 is on, and the ASF has been accepted as an
organization.

So NetBeans can host GSoC students, provided someone from the PPMC
agrees to be their mentor.

See the instructions below and if there are questions I should be able
to help, I've been a mentor a few times in the past.

If you're unsure, it's fine to sign up as a mentor already and we can
the discuss the details.

Dear PMCs,

I'm happy to announce that the ASF has made it onto the list of
accepted organizations for
Google Summer of Code 2019! [1,2]

It is now time for mentors to sign up, so please pass this email on to
your community and
podlings. If you aren’t already subscribed to
ment...@community.apache.org you should do so now else
you might miss important information.

Mentor signup requires two steps: mentor signup in Google's system [3]
and PMC acknowledgement.

If you want to mentor a project in this year's SoC you will have to

1. Be an Apache committer.
2. Request an acknowledgement from the PMC for which you want to
mentor projects. Use the below
template and *do not forget to copy ment...@community.apache.org*. We
will use the email adress you
indicate to send the invite to be a mentor for Apache.

PMCs, read carefully please.

We request that each mentor is acknowledged by a PMC member. This is
to ensure the mentor is in good
standing with the community. When you receive a request for
acknowledgement, please ACK it and cc
ment...@community.apache.org

Lastly, it is not yet too late to record your ideas in Jira (see
previous emails for details).
Students will now begin to explore ideas so if you haven’t already
done so, record your ideas
immediately!

Cheers,

The Apache GSoC Team

please acknowledge my request to become a mentor for Google Summer of

I would like to receive the mentor invite to

Re: [DISCUSS] Becoming a top level Apache project

2019-03-11 Thread Geertjan Wielenga
As stated, I am now going to open a VOTE thread, since we have had some
discussion now on this topic, in this thread, as well as in various others,
and everyone has had a chance to comment on our becoming a top level
project and there appears to be consensus around this. However, a VOTE
thread is needed to finalize this -- and I am now going to put together
that VOTE thread.
