First understand that this is not a company. OpenOffice is open source
software created and maintained by volunteers under the auspices of the
Apache Software Foundation. Therefore there is not a person that you can
send questions to.

There is nothing wrong with it, it is simply proceeding under the
default autocorrect options. These options can be changed by the user.
In Writer go to Tools->autocorrect options and set the options you
want on the different tabs.

Hi Rory,

It might help to know which version he was downloading and also which
sourceforge mirror.

You could then compare the length that google reported vs. the size of the same
file from http://www.apache.org/dist/openoffice/4.0.1/binaries - don't
reference that in the forum - it is there to help.

Dave

No benefit. The process would be the same. And breaking the symmetry
(released in language XX = full version available in language XX =
language pack available for XX) would bring complications in:

1) Updates. A full version in, say, German will show an update
notification when a new version is available in German. With a language
pack the user would be notified when a new English version is available,
and this would bring confusion.

2) Download scripts. The tables we generate in other.html display full
versions and language packs assuming that there is symmetry between the two.

So the discussion is whether to release additional languages or not (of
course, if we have volunteers for it). But releasing language packs only
would not be a simplification.

  Andrea.

I don't know what the process would be for this.

2013-12-30 Thread Rory O'Farrell
On the en-Forum there have been some reports of "Download interrupted", from
memory these are mostly from users of Chrome browser. We normally advise use
(either permanently or on a one off basis) of Firefox.

A current case is
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=66618#p296227
which links to a possible flaw in the file server.

The suggested flaw may be worth investigating.

Oh, I missed your draft. Your draft looks realy good, so I will
probabily only do a video in German. It's much easyer for me ;-)

Feel free to give feedback on content.

It is based on the popular TimelineJS tool. It is in Roller as a
draft, but Roller shows it correctly only in draft mode (it seems that
the iframe is filtered out of the published blog post, it would be
nice is someone found a workaround or I will have to use the awkward
trick of publishing an image with an hyperlink to an externally-hosted
tiemline).

Images are all missing. Suggestions welcome. I can use:
- Flickr images
- Youtube videos
- Tweets

Since Roller does not show it, you can see the current status at

What about put this to the normal webspace?

Re: Heightlights 2013?

2013-12-30 Thread Hagar Delest

Hi,

Some numbers for the forum (thanks also to Rory who monitored the users
activity for several weeks), take what you want (it applies to English forum
only):
- more than 100 postings per day (by comparison, the users ML is moribund)
- 20-25 new topics per day
- 20-25 new Users per day
- almost 60,000 accounts (if we remove the spam accounts, else it makes more
than 62,250)
- New traffic record: more than 300 users online (NB: due to phpBB
misconfiguration - IP identification - this figure is no longer recorded)

Vietnamese forum was reopened but not sure it's worth mentioning since we may
close it soon (no activity except spam attempts).

Should we mention that the sidebar has been implemented afterward in LibO?
(meaning that AOO also gives important improvements to the ecosystem).

Hagar
