New Volunteer Information
Good afternoon, My names Jake Thomas, from Victoria Australia, and well I guess I am looking to help out. I have completed introductions lvls 1 2, and am in the process of reading over lvl 3. The main area i would probably be able to assist in will be documentation, although testing different areas for bugs is also an area of interest. The time I have available each week varies between 3 - 10 hours per week, depending on whether that makes a difference. Jake

different issues about Word Completion in Writer
Hello! Because of issue 124551 (word completion suggestion all capitalized, word in database is mixed case) I stumbled in some other issues where I can not divide if it is a feature or a bug. a) Issue 35724 - Word completion does not record words unless AutoSpellCheck is ON This issue was marked as DUPLICATE of Issue 35015 - Spellchecker picks wrong text samples - I don't understand why - but that is marked as CLOSED FIXED. Now: The word completion of AOO 4 record all words (if long enough) if AutoSpellCheck is OFF. But with AutoSpellCheck ON words that will redlined by the spellchecker will not collected for word completion. In German there are many compound words (like the example BWL-Vorlesung in issue 124551) which are not recognised by the spellchecker. For me this is a BUG. But I don't know if this is related to issue 37577 (Autocompletion should accept only correctly spelled words)? I doesn't find any specification or issue which brings clearness. b) With AOO 4 the behaviour of Word Completion was changed, so that now if one type the first letters of a word in uppercase the complete word is suggested in uppercase. Where can I find the specification or issue for that? This brings us to the initial issue 124551. If a word with capitalised letters is collected, this should be the first suggestion. The complete capitalised word should be reached via shortcut like words which have the same first letters. If your drive hasn't been cleared of the virus, you might try the online scanning service http://housecall.trendmicro.com When it has been cleared of the virus, you might try using utilities Recuva or Photorec (Google for their master sites - these are the best sites from which to download) to search for erased files. These utilities are slow (but thorough). Depending on drive size, they can take several hours (sometimes overnight). Virus recovery is not a function of OpenOffice or of this list, but I offer the above suggestions in good faith. -- Rory O'Farrell ofarr...@iol.ie - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org
E-mail outage resolved
All OpenOffice mailing lists were silent in the last few days. The reason was a severe outage of the Apache mail servers. Messages were queued but not delivered. Service will back to normal in a matter of hours, and we will receive all messages in queue. For more information, see the Apache Infra blog were they gave/give up-to-date information on how they are addressing the issue: https://blogs.apache.org/infra/entry/mail_outage (it has been linked from http://www.openoffice.org/ too for a few days). Openoffice V 4.1.0 --problems
Dear Sir. I want to let you know that I can't load OpenOffice 4.1.0. Get a Error message Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the File C:\windows\installer\openoffice401.msi I am using a desk top computer with windows 8.1. I have OpenOffice 4.0.1 working now with no problems. Have been using OpenOffice for at least 10 years. Works good. Checking my files I found that openoffice401.msi was not in the folder C:\windows\installer. I was able to copy the file openoffice401.msi from the desk top folder to C:\windows\installer. I tried to install the program Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.0_Win_x86_install_en-US.exe again and got the same error message. Is this a Windows 8.1 problem or what? Thank You Lewis

New Dev Volunteer
Hello, My name is Lewie, and I am interested in doing some dev work on Open Office. I noticed that the Draw program has a Zoom toolbar but the Writer program does not. I would like to mess with the code to see if I can implement the Zoom toolbar and its buttons for Write. I have downloaded the code, but it's a lot bigger than I thought it would be, and I would like some guidance as to which files are involved in defining default toolbars and buttons. Is there an application architecture map that might help me locate myself in the code base? Thanks! Update 4.1 (Outlook Adressen)
