The upload is ongoing and I expect it will be finished tonight or

the release schedule and I hope that we can address the most important

I already sent a couple of warnings to translators and I'll make sure
they are informed. We still have several languages that are close
enough to be ready for 4.1.1.

One of the biggest problems is the upload speed and I calculate at the
moment with ~3 days. It's still a pain and no fun.
 Any opinions or comments?

A 3-day delay is very bad, especially considering that we are adding new
languages (and that we are not going to adopt other approaches, like
multi-language installers, for 4.1.1). Is your upload problem on the
Apache end? I mean, could you make the binaries available somewhere else
in a much shorter time? In that case we might find a different solution,
it is not a requirement that binaries are hosted on people.apache.org
(or you can rewrite your people.apache.org URLs to an external server,
and/or we could well setup a snapshotbuilds.openoffice.org CNAME for
 that server).

we don't upload on people since some time, we have a place on the
machine where the build bots upload their results. It is definitely a
problem on both sides.

A solution is to have build bots in place that can be used for release
builds but as long as nobody is volunteering to work on this we have to
live with the current situation.

I don't have time to take care of this and will live with the longer
upload time for now. But we should think about a solution soon if we
want ensure binary builds

Thanks! I took the liberty to merge the fix into the release branch
where the same problem was introduced and is solved now. This event
showed that a more regular check of our release branch is needed.

I temporarily switched the Linux32 and the Windows nightly builds to our
release branch for AOO 4.1.1. Till the release this switch should help
our QA efforts and the more regular monitoring of the branch will also
detect build problems faster.

The changes are already active, but the next nightly builds will only be
available starting tomorrow at about this time.

Thanks for finding it! The problem was probably introduced because the
fix was developed on a platform where building with precompiled headers
was enabled, which hid the problem.

This issue is not really a release blocker, but the changes I made
contain general corrections and improvements of the import of Microsoft
Word document in the binary file format (WW8 import) in the area of the
outline levels. See also the list of depending issues (62681, 67302,
83951, 93630, 94525, 102628, 107029, 108094) which are also fixed (or
improved).

This some support on the QA side - testing in the general the WW8 import
- I would like to see these changes in our planned 4.1.1 release.

OpenOffice Problems

2014-07-07 Thread Chuck Ebbeler
Sir.

I want to download OpenOffice to move away from the overpriced MS products.
All I really need it a writing program. I've had it on a laptop may years ago
and it was a great product.

A few weeks ago I downloaded OpenOffice to my new HP and it worked well with my
external hard drive where my written material is stored. However, along with
the Open Office program came a number of trouble causing items. Ad pop-ups,
and long running script warnings and freezes from Windows, and insistances to
download other programs. Programs such as Java and Adobe acrobat are known and
trusted, but they should not have come piggybacked with OpenOffice.

I finally had to reset my machine back to factory defaults and start all over.

Can you send me a clean OpenOffice disc, or tell me how to download it without
all the extra baggage?

Thanks for you time and consideration.
Chuck Ebbeler

We cooperate here with Sourceforge and that is the reason why you become
redirected on a Sourceforge page when you download the program. normally
the download start automatically after a few seconds, just wait. Other
download options can you ignore.

OpenOffice needs Java for some features but that is all and normally
Java is already installed. If no Java is in place it no big thing and
only some feature won't work.

the problem is likely not the spreadsheet itself, but charts therein. Do
you use charts? And if yes, how many data points has each chart?

it seems you don't have a problem with the website but with the software
itself.

 Hi,

well we have not finally defined the release schedule for AOO 4.1.1 but
the train has started already and I have prepared a first milestone
 build that is currently uploading.

The milestone (m1) build is based on the AOO410 branch on revision
1603804. The fixed issue compared to AOO 4.1 can be found under [1] and
the binaries can be found under [2] (when the upload is finished).

The upload is ongoing and I expect it will be finished tonight or
tomorrow, yes we still have a bottleneck here. But anyway no pressure at
the moment but I invite all volunteers to give it a try as early as
possible and provide feedback. Next week we will define in more detail
the release schedule and I hope that we can address the most important
and serious problems we have currently.
