Starting Second Volunteer Orientation Module
I'm done with the first new volunteer orientation module, and now I'm starting the second one: How the Apache OpenOffice Project Works.

There are no reports on the issue that it has been tested by anyone else. Given the nature of the patch, I think it needs review by the API folks, who I've copied on this reply. Hopefully, a conclusion on this can be had soon. Re: 64 bit Linux builds for 4.1.2
Marcus wrote: The release files are nearly complete. Only the Linux 64 bit DEB full install files are missing. The langpacks are there. I confirmed I checked myself, and all languages are there: it is just a matter of comparing svn ls https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/openoffice/4.1.2-rc1-r1705606/binaries to http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/4.1.1/binaries/ @Andrea: From where do they come? It is possible to deliver them also? Not now, sorry. Upload was broken in one of the preliminary steps. The current binaries were committed from people.apache.org but the copy we have there already misses those files. So it will take a few days to recover the Linux 64-bit DEB (full installs) but it is time to start testing the other 11 available variants. The headline of http://www.openoffice.org/ can already be pointed at https://blogs.apache.org/ooo/ (since we agreed we would do it as soon as test builds were available). I'm now going to send a message to the dev and QA lists with some further details. OpenOffice 4.1.2-RC1 available for testing
We have the first Release Candidate of OpenOffice 4.1.2 available for testing. So it's time to get serious with tests. We'll run tests for at least a full week as agreed. Note: we will not vote on this Release Candidate. But it should be widely used for tests. Volunteers are recommended to install it and check both common usage and the specific bugfixes. Builds are available at https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/openoffice/4.1.2-rc1-r1705606/binaries/ Once you choose the language, the filename should be rather clear. The English version for Windows, for example, is at https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/openoffice/4.1.2-rc1-r1705606/binaries/en-US/Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.2_Win_x86_install_en-US.exe How to help: use this link provided by Kay (you may need a Bugzilla account; just ask in case) https://bz.apache.org/ooo/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=dorem=run=4.1.2_approved_and_fixed_id=7 and you will find a list of fixes. Pick one that is set as "RESOLVED FIXED". Verify (with the RC1) that the bug is indeed fixed, and mark it as VERIFIED. Ask on the list (dev or qa, depending on where you see this; qa preferred) if you need assistance. Known issue: Linux 64-bit builds in DEB format are missing. We will recover them as soon as possible. On the other hand, this week's optimizations will allow much faster and direct uploads in future. Special thanks go to Juergen and Herbert for assistance and guidance, and to Infra for a lot of technical help.
