Building AOO412 on Windows

2016-06-30 Thread Patricia Shanahan
I am trying to build AOO412 on my Windows 8.1 system. Back in the
previous "Building on Windows" thread I described a series of failures
that were ultimately cured by adding "--disable-pch" to my configure
parameters.

Those problems have reappeared in the 4.1.2 build. Is there something
different I need to do to get rid of precompiled headers for that build?

Forum log in problem, Locked out

2016-06-30 Thread L P Luigi Espenlaub
I hope some one can help me.
I have not logged in or even been to
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/ucp.php?mode=login
for several months.
When I logged in the first time, I was informed:

You exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts. In addition to
your username and password you now also have to solve the CAPTCHA below.

After several attempts at solving the CAPTCHA I each time received the same
message.
I tried the "Send password" option and was informed:

The e-mail/username information submitted could not be found.

So I tried re-registering and got this:

The username you entered is already in use, please select an alternative.
The entered e-mail address is already in use.

Say What!
Just did all this again so I could copy and paste the exact messages.
I've almost forgotten the question I wanted to find an answer to.
If you are the wrong person, please forward this to the right one and/or
give me the correct email address.

Yours, Thoroughly Confused,

Hello Lucretia --

The area that Alexandro directed you to may be useful to see what's been
thought in the past in terms of UI design. But, despite the fact that we
no longer have a dedicated UI team, we would love to hear what you have
to say/propose in regard to usability, etc. Of course, you can download
Apache OpenOffice at:

http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html

Discussion on your ideas can be discussed here on the "dev" list. If you
have specific ideas on something like menu changes, etc., it would be
advantageous to use our Bug reporting system, Bugzilla, which allows for
adding enhancements.

Thank you for your interest in helping with Apache OpenOffice.

RE: Hello All

2016-06-30 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton
Angelique,

You might want to subscribe to the d...@openoffice.apache.org list where
documentation is discussed. (Subscription requests go to
doc-subscr...@openoffice.apache.org, sending from the email address you want to
receive list messages at.)

There is also guidance for learning your way around Apache OpenOffice at
.

Because you are interested in technical writing, it is necessary to have some
domain knowledge of Apache OpenOffice. You should have a version of the
software and be able to fact-check and verify behaviors in material that you
might want to improve, extend, or add. The ability to make screen captures is
important. You will also need to set up accounts on two wikis that the project
operates.

The docs@ list is the best place to dig into all of this.

AHA! Since 4.1.2, some of the download sites, especially Sourceforge, have
swithced to https, instead of http. Please check your Perl installation and
see if you have LWP::Protocol installed which supplies the https access for
LWP::UserAgent.

We need to add this to our build information as well.

ps. I don't know what Java you're using, but I couldn't build 4.1.2 with
Java 1.8, and had to use Java 1.7 instead.

Hi Angelique, please let us know whta kind of experience are you looking
for, do you want to learn how to use the software, or how to contribute to
