Things are very different depending on whether one is testing a dev
build or a release candidate.

A list of manual tests close to the "checklist" you were looking for
can be found here (and these apply to all builds):

https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/TestCases/#AOO_3.4_General_Testing_Test_Cases

and, still on the wiki, there is also a more complete dump of the
former Testlink cases that I cannot find right now.

Maybe these?
https://www.openoffice.org/qa/testcase/

A RC (Release Candidate), instead, is very different. We ship both the
source code and convenience binaries, but the Apache release process
focuses mostly on legal checks to be done on the source code.

Details about voting on a RC:
http://www.apache.org/legal/release-policy.html

An example of OpenOffice RC testing (this is what I usually do; but
other people run different tests):

https://s.apache.org/openoffice-416-tests

There are also automated tests you can run against a build.
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/QA/test_automation_guide

I don't use the eclipse instructions and the Ant command line way is at
the end.

I've been trying to clean these up and it's work in progress.
The BVT test for trunk are in pretty good shape. All 80 pass for me now.
Some in 4.1 are still flaky though. pass/fail intermittently.
Threading/Processor speeds are my theory.
I'm working on cherry picking a lot of test fixes from trunk to 4.1 but
they're not ready yet.
There was a lot of API changes included that I don't think we should
backport.

Anyway it won't matter after 4.2 anyway :)

Best regards,
Carl

Re: pi 4 port update

2021-01-12 Thread Peter Kovacs

I would try to build the cosv module "alone".

Go into the cosv folder and then enter make.

The line which builds the comdline.o is (I think)

Package_inc.mk:$(eval $(call
gb_Package_add_file,cosv_inc,inc/cosv/comdline.hxx,comdline.hxx))

And the static library is defined I think in StaticLibrary_cosv.mk
So maybe this is some sort of gmake Issue?

Mathias,

I was trying on the pi ARM.
Then, I moved Debian - x86 and had a similar error.

I figured I'd try on desktop first, right - then port.
But had similar errors.

I am following the build guide.
Had a few issues like hsqldb and now cosv.

what version of gcc is preferred?
I'm using 8.3.0

Hi Marcia,

I don't know when exactly someone was able to build on ARM.
We have a lot of outstanding patches, maybe they need to be merged first?

You build on Raspberry Pi OS? that is based on Debian, 32-bit?

Re: Linux virtual machines for release builds

Dear All,

I tried to reproduce the Centos5 64bit VM today, and I hit a couple of
problems that did not seem to be addressed by the building guide:

1- OpenSSL is too old to connect to today's https
servers. Eventually, the bootstrap script would stop on certain
downloads. I made up a simple procedure to install a newer library
 [1], that I copied'n'pasted from [2].

2- installation of the Perl module Archive::Zip fails in the test
phase with obscure errors about garbage before or after the actual
ZIP data. I changed the build instructions to force its installation
[3]. I believe that this failure could be due to the ``age'' of
 CentOS 5 as well.

With these changes to the instructions, I could set up a VM, that is
now trying to compile tag 419.

I hope this helps.

Best regards.

Thanks for the report!

@Peter: Is it possible to replace 418 with 419 in OpenGrok?

Regards,
