Re: Ubuntu 21.04 / dark mode

2021-04-23 Thread Peter Kovacs
The reason is that our GTK implementation looks for theme names of an
old version and then hacks the calls.

And the call then calls the wrong functions. I am told 2 years ago what
functions are right and which are wrong, but back then I was to
carefuill and I do not find the notes 8If I did notes at all)

However I think the gtk code is wrong more then that and I wanted to
look into this, but always had different priorities.

So never got to look deeper into the gtk code.

If there is anyone who knows how GTK works and needs pointers I can
search the position that needs to be fixed.

All the best

Peter

Does AOO still switch to "High Contrast" when started on a dark UI? If
so, people will start to ask how to disable it in the near future.

I didn't have the time to install and test, maybe someone else has updated?

These icons were never designed for dark mode...
Maybe it is time to add a new icon set? ;-)

BTW: Some of the elements on that picture are still from HC icon set,
did you restart AOO?

That worked. The icons are now using the selected theme.

Yes, it is better than High Contrast
And I think that the default for Icon size should be Large (since Automatic
doesn't work...) and most current monitors are HiDPI...

Yes, that is what happens currently

To be honest, only the Start menu is dark on my system, so I basically
don't know if this applies to Windows as well...

I would think so...

But on Windows 10 (dark theme) this is not the case. So maybe Linux only.

at least from the help text of this option it sounds like a solution.
Does it mean, when the system backgrund color OS is detected as dark
enough, then the HC icon set is pre-selected and displayed?

Thanks for testing!

So basically it detects Claws now...

Maybe we need to add some option in the script to start Claws detached?
