TOC entries linked by default (as in Symphony)

2013-09-05 Thread Fabrizio Marchesano
Hi all,
I know that there are open bugs related to the issue of hyperlinks set as
default in TOC entries (e.g.
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=55993) but since in IBM Lotus
Symphony this is the default behaviour I was wondering if it may be only a
matter of editing a configuration file.
I'll try to check it out, but if someone has any clue, they will be
appreciated.
Regards,

Fabrizio

Re: Sidebar color scheme survey

2013-01-31 Thread Fabrizio Marchesano
Great news, thanks Juergen!
I installed two custom task pane extensions (in Calc and Writer context,
written in Java using the NetBeans plug-in) without making any change to
the code or configuration files, just installing the same OXTs working on
AOO 3.4.1, but, even if they where shown and worked perfectly in the
original Task Pane container, the same Tool Panels were shown empty in the
Sidebar.
Just a try (on Windows XP 32 bit and Fedora 18 64 bit) but seeing my tool
panels on the Sidebar, even empty, with their title and icon ready to be
clicked on, made me even more excited than I already was about the
opportunities given to developers (and, in consequence, users) by AOO 4.
I am at your disposal for any further test, just tell me what I have to do.
See you very soon!
Regards,

Fabrizio

Re: Sidebar color scheme survey

2013-01-30 Thread Fabrizio Marchesano
Hello Andre,
I just tested the Sidebar Developer Build on a Windows XP virtual Machine
and it looks really great, thanks for the great work by my side, too!
May I ask if I can include a screenshot of the Sidebar Developer Build into
my FOSDEM presentation?
The subject of my talk is the development of custom Task Pane estensions,
and I would like to show a glimpse of the future (of course, mentioning the
source wiki page and specifying that the screenshot is related to a
work-in-progess UI).
I'm highly interested in custom sidebar extension development (I began
creating custom sidebar plug-ins for clients in IBM Lotus Symphony
environment) and I would like to contribute on the subject; I currently use
Java and NetBeans plug-in to create my extension, is the source code for
the Java extension for development and debugging of the sidebar available?
Is there any other way I may help?
About the color scheme survey, my preference goes to C1, followed by B1 and
A1.
Thanks in advance and best regards,

Fabrizio

Re: How to make money with Apache OpenOffice (proposed blog post)

2013-01-23 Thread Fabrizio Marchesano
Hi all,
if you think it may be of interest, I could talk about the development of
tailor-made extensions for customers.
I think this may be seen as a kind of the win-win situation which Rob is
referring to: taking advantage of the whole community by learning a lot
about extension development, creating tailored extensions for customers
with so much specific requirements that a consultancy agreement is needed,
giving back to the community the new skills learned during the process (the
ones not related to the customer's specific needs, or at least making
generalizations), thus sharing knowledge, which can lead to new customers'
requests and so on.
In my case, for example, that's the way I came to talk at FOSDEM (it all
started in quite recent times with IBM Lotus Symphony, but the global
context is the same; indeed, it could even be a subject of interest, given
the merging of Symphony code in AOO 4).
I am at your disposal if you think it may fit.
Best regards,

Fabrizio

Re: Merging Lotus Symphony: Allegro moderato

2013-01-22 Thread Fabrizio Marchesano
The kind of post I would have liked to have written myself: brilliant,
informative and entertaining as well.
It brought to my memory the statement of the harpsichordist Wanda
Lansdowska about Mozart's music: «Simplicity does not mean poverty,
indigence and ignorance! [...] The works of Mozart are clear, transparent,
and joyful as a spring, and not only those muddy pools which seem deep only
because the bottom cannot be seen.»
By replacing “works of Mozart are” with “Apache OpenOffice 4.0 is”, I
believe the description may perfectly fit.
Best regards,

Fabrizio

is there any official/unofficial FOSDEM template (or at least a guideline
