[dev] Re: [qa-dev] Can we do more regression testing?

2007-05-24 Thread Joerg Sievers

Hi Jörg,

as discussed and for the notes here to get all to the same level of
information:

The goal can not be to get a 100% determenistic working test tool
because this is impossible and have never been reached also in other
[software] projects. Also the well known literature about automated test
tools [1] is not talking about a 100% failsafe process. But that's not a
problem. We have to select the best proved tests for such an automated
process to get an acceptance of the developers who will have to start
the process and see the results first. The results in a defined
environment of the VCL TestTool are very good as they are and very less
warnings are comming from scripts or environment defects.

The goal from my point of view if I read your words is to put the
automated testing more to the development process instead of doing it in
the QA test cycle and that is really a great enhancement to get the
hands off the code until the quality has not been reached. It also saves
time and money [2].

Thank you for collecting all these information!

I will add some words aof these aspects to the Wiki page.

Cu,
Jogi

Hi,

in the past weeks I had some discussions with developers and members
from the QA whether and how we could establish regular automated
regression tests. The results of these discussions I have collected in
the Wiki page Steps towards regular automated regression testing
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Steps_towards_regular_automated_regression_testing).

There are still some open questions about e.g. required hardware, a
milestone potentially being ready for usage a few hours later. So if you
have input on this topic I would be happy to see content added to the
Wiki page or answers being posted to this mail. I would also be
interested to know whether people find it desirable at all to introduce
such regular regression tests.

Thanks,

Jörg

Re: [dev] Code reviews ?

2007-05-24 Thread Nikolai Pretzell

Also what is your opinion about OpenOffice.org++ project. One of memeber
has updated the patches for 2.2. Will someone review their patches.

According to #73468# the patches are distributed among the different
modules they apply to and I assume the project/module owners will have a
look at them. At least for my module (autodoc) I had. ;-)

Also, the document they provided,
http://oopp.multiracio.com/downloads/Riport.pdf,
has some more information that not yet is put into patches, but still
may be valuable to explore.

[dev] Generating animations for OpenOffice.org Impress

2007-05-24 Thread Jens Storz

Hi,
I'm writing a converter which generates OpenDocument presentations.
The source are animated 2D models (converted to draw:path ...).
It seems that in anim:animateTransform svg:type=rotate
smil:values=angle cx cy; ... ... the cx and cy values are ignored.
The centre of rotation is stays in the middle of the object.

Can anybody confirm this?

If I'm wrong on this list please tell me, where I'm right ;)

There are more problems like this. It seems that some attributes of the
OpenDocument standard are not interpreted by OpenOffice.org.

[dev] Problem on Testing Tools

2007-05-24 Thread Canghua Qu
Hi,All,

As we add some features and fixed some bugs in OOo, sometimes our version is
unstable for unknown reason. I want to know if OOo's developers or testers
use some testing tools to test the stability such as memory leak. And how
they do on such prolbems.

Best Regards,
Canghua

[dev] Bug in OpenOffice.org Impress (disappearing master slides)

2007-05-24 Thread Axel Reimer
Hello,

there is a long known (since OpenOffice.org 2.0 pre-beta) bug in
OpenOffice.org Impress that leads to disappearing master slides (when
they are not used in the current presenation).

This bug is recognized by Impress-beginners and Impress-professionals
and leads to making the use of Impress very hard.

This bug is even explained in the OpenOffice.org Impress Tutorial from
oooauthors

http://oooauthors.org/en/authors/userguide2/impress/published/0502IG-SlideMastersStylesTemplates.pdf
(page 5)

I think nearly every Impress user encounters this bug.

The target is set to OOo Later and I think it should be fixed very soon
(OOo 2.3)?

Best regards,

Axel
