As "official" opengrok on svn.services... still didn't adopt it, and I
myself did miss it in the couple of days, I decided to setup opengrok
again on pumbaa, but this time indexing the mercurial-repo (tip is
indexed, but it also indexes the history)

In this context: If somebody knows a way to have commit-times restored
on hg update/checkout like the "use-commit-times" configuration value
for subversion does it, I'd be interested. Apparently it only sets the
times when using hg archive, but always uses current time when working
in the repo...

( Unfortunately that patch, despite really tiny didn't receive any
attention yet :-/ )

I would prefer a link in one place too, but the links are sensible in both
locations, I think (I would like to have the needed downloads at the top of
the page), but I would also want those to identify what goes where.
If you have a good solution for this, go ahead (maybe one could just name the
requirements at the top and refer to the table below for source and destination
locations?).

My thought is to put the table itself at the top (with a brief
introduction), and let all the explanations follow, with no other
external links.

From our point of view, it makes maintenance easier and more reliable.
For the users, the table is what they're going to want to refer to,
probably over and over; having it at the top makes it easy to find. If
we tune the section headers so that they have the same names as the
table entries, then the users can use the TOC to go straight to some
individual explanation they need to look up. Or, on-page links to the
sections would be easy enough.

While I'm at it, I may move that very useful CLI-for-dummies tip up into
the first description of Cygwin.

All this is a fairly major reshuffle. If you have no major objections,
I'll do it, but your critical review (of the plan, and the result) is
very important: I've never built OO.o at all.

A WhichId is the id by which items are stored in SfxItemSets and SfxItemPools.
You cannot have two items with the same WhichId in on SfxItemSet. However,
there are multiple uses for WhichIds: SfxSlotIds are only one and they are
required to start at 5000. In writer for example HintIds can also be used
as WhichIds. To make sure those do not collide, HintIds must be <5000.

SlotIds are used in the Sfx2 framework. see:

http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Framework/Article/Implementation_of_the_Dispatch_API_In_SFX2

SlotIds are at least unique per Shell (*).

There are some fine differences in the way SfxItemSets/SfxPropertySets handle
ids <5000 and ids >=5000. For example, the Changed(..)-Callback in SfxItemSet
only gets called for WhichIds <5000. For more details, Im afraid you will have
to dig into the code.

Have Fun,

Bjoern

(*) I guess, they might even be unique OOo-wide, but Im not sure about that.

What are the terms "slot" and "which" mean?

Which-IDs are used to store items in an ItemSet. For most efficient
operation, they should be consecutive, so each module uses its own IDs,
defined in ranges of items that are stored together. For uniform
communication with UI elements (like dialogs or tool bars), an ItemPool
can define a Slot-ID for each Which-ID. The same Slot-ID is then used
for an item across the modules (like SID_ATTR_CHAR_FONT for the font
description).

Hi,

have a look at the following wiki page:

http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Framework/Article/OpenOffice.org_2.x_Commands

The column ID contains the so called "Slot IDs". These IDs were used to
access UI elements from within a URL object.

example:

slot:5500 will open the "New Document From Template" dialog.

Kind regards, Joost

missing type specifier -int assumed: C++ does not support default-int,
'TypeClass' undeclared identifier. And type.hxx errors like {ctor} member
function redelclaration not allowed and '_pType' : function-style initializer
appears to be a function definition. I've also got tons of warnings(358) from
reference.h with C+ exception specification ignored except to indicate a
function is not __delspec(nothrow).

How can I compile and use UNO? Am i missing some other configuration?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,Wei Min
