They will be unusual[1] so evaluate carefully if you want to consume these diffs or not. There will be another change to the ODbL diffs, at the completion of the license upgrade. Hi, [1] They'll include changes by the background cleaning script so the diffs will be larger than usual. This is interesting, is there any blog post/wiki page explaning this ? (I read : http://blog.osmfoundation.org/2012/04/04/api-read-write-returns/ ) Sorry if I missed it, but is the redaction process ran as any ususal edit process ? is there an identified account all redaction is done with ? Can I assume, that, after consumtion of all redacted diffs (in an osm2pgsql like scenario, ie : no history kept) my database only contains odbl licenced data in the end ? Again, if all that is answered somewhere I missed, could you give me a pointer to it ? -- sly qui suis-je : http://sly.letuffe.org email perso : sylvain chez letuffe un point org ___ dev mailing list dev@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/dev

Yes, this is the current plan. is there an identified account all redaction is done with ? No, the account has not yet been identified. Can I assume, that, after consumtion of all redacted diffs (in an osm2pgsql like scenario, ie : no history kept) my database only contains odbl licenced data in the end ? Yes, but for legal reasons you will still have to drop your database and reimport after OSMF declares the switch to ODbL. (Because it is not possible to add diffs to something that is CC-BY-SA and thereby magically make it ODbL.) Of course, since what you have after applying the diffs and what you have after doing a full reload should not be any different, nobody would notice... Re: [OSM-dev] minute dumps
This might be getting off-topic to this list but to respond: according to this article[1], the author has contacted Bing and that Bing stated that they use no OSM data whatsoever. I know that Bing is just a part of Microsoft, but if you are asking about OSM diffs using a Microsoft email address, then people will rightly be curious what Microsoft might be doing with OSM data when Bing, which is the most likely candidate for using OSM data, says they're not using it. According to your LinkedIn profile, you are the Principal Database Architect at Microsoft so might it be that you are simply interested in OSM data for being a humongous dataset. Is this correct? The database is in read-only mode so there are no changes being made. You will need to reload your database when the license change process is completed (estimated sometime after April 9th). http://blog.osmfoundation.org/2012/03/27/service-schedule-march-april-2012/ has a schedule.
