[jira] [Created] (XMLBEANS-540) Prevent trim of elements when pretty print is used

2019-04-15 Thread Srecko Mandelj (JIRA)
Srecko Mandelj created XMLBEANS-540:
---

Summary: Prevent trim of elements when pretty print is used
 Key: XMLBEANS-540
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XMLBEANS-540
 Project: XMLBeans
  Issue Type: Wish
Reporter: Srecko Mandelj

It would be niice to resolve the issue described in XMLBEANS-22. I'm using a
local implementation as suggested by [~mattin] in the last comment. Is it
possible to make this a permanent fix in one of the future releases? I had
problems analyzing logs since space inside element sometimes causes errors in
business logic (like the example when search with space fails).

Re: POIFS int size - limits size to 2G

That's correct. That's a published restriction on OLE2 (CFB) files with
the small block size

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/windows_protocols/ms-cfb/d4c8084a-e583-473f-b2f4-4af13b3101d9

I had a look at changing the int to a long but this has a knock-on effect
for lots of classes.

And breaks most file format readers!

Is there a reason for us to stick with int sizes or should we look at
supporting long sizes (and bigger files)?

The "correct" (aka Microsoft documented) fix is to switch to the larger
block size (4kb sectors) when your file gets close to 2gb. However, not
all software copes with the switch...

[jira] [Commented] (XMLBEANS-539) Support for newer versions of Saxon as an XPath engine

Andreas Beeker commented on XMLBEANS-539:

I have a patch available for Saxon 9.8-HE on my "shelf", but haven't dared to
apply it yet.

I think it was because of backwards compatibility.

If we decide to go for XmlBeans 4.0, that's something we should apply.

[jira] [Created] (XMLBEANS-539) Support for newer versions of Saxon as an XPath engine

2019-04-15 Thread Srecko Mandelj (JIRA)
Srecko Mandelj created XMLBEANS-539:
---

Summary: Support for newer versions of Saxon as an XPath engine
 Key: XMLBEANS-539
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XMLBEANS-539
 Project: XMLBeans
  Issue Type: Wish
  Components: XPath
Reporter: Srecko Mandelj

It is still a limitation of using old version of Saxon to achieve xpath search
in XmlBeans. It would be nice to be able to use Saxon HE with XmlBeans. Older
versions of saxon (including early versions of HE prior to 9.5) have problems
with new versions of java (getting error
/lib/saxon9-xpath.jar/META-INF/services/javax.xml.xpath.XPathFactory:2: Illegal
configuration-file syntax at
java.xml/javax.xml.xpath.XPathFactory.newInstance(XPathFactory.java:119)).
