Re: [racket-dev] Racket logo

2012-02-09 Thread Neil Van Dyke
Of these two, I like the second (plastic) one a bit better. The blue in
the glass is distracting to me.

Careful that it doesn't look too much like the new Pepsi logo, which has
its own burden:

http://blowatlife.blogspot.com/2009/02/pepsi-logo-response.html

I still like the current lambda logo. Though the lowercase 'R' letter
would hang out better with the typical icons for Twitter and Facebook.
And peeve Ruby and R people.

[racket-dev] infinite loop in setup

2012-02-09 Thread Matthias Felleisen

[just got back]

Trying to build from scratch, killed process after about 50mins at

 raco setup: 1 rendering: racklog/racklog.scrbl
 raco setup: 0 rendering: rackunit/scribblings/rackunit.scrbl
 raco setup: 1 rendering: scribblings/raco/raco.scrbl
 raco setup: 0 rendering: readline/readline.scrbl
 raco setup: 0 rendering: plot/scribblings/plot.scrbl
 raco setup: 1 rendering: scribblings/reference/reference.scrbl
 ^C^Cuser break

Is this a real problem or did it all just slow down that much recently?

I prefer keeping the lambda in it.[1] Also r is much less
unique.[2]

([1] IOW, the new logos have an r and I need to tilt my head and
look at a mirror to see an ugly lambda; I'd prefer it the other way: a
clear λ with a hint of an r.)

(BTW, unless the transparency is needed, a jpg file is better for such
images -- about half the size with a 94% compression quality.)

Apparently I was confused, and didn't realize that this wasn't a
discussion but a change that is already the default. Can we at least
get acket added at the bottom so the new logo is not just r?
Please?

i also thought you were all discussing it.

i'm not a fan of dropping the lambda. the coloring looks ok. it took me a
second to recognize the r as an r.

of the two, i also like the plastic one to the glass one
