The Google summer of code (GSOC) is start from a project tasks. As a
mentor,  you need to help the student know better about the task and
the project,  answer the questions about the task.

If you have some tasks in mind but you don't have enough time to
implement them, it could be a good opportunity to participate GSOC as
a mentor. Normally it will take you 4~8 hours a week to help the
student remotely from June to August. Please don't be panic about
that, as this time could be break down to daily work, you just need to
spend 0.5~1 hours to help the student to do the design and
implementation work.

The GSOC mentor of Apache is opened for application before 26th March.
You can create the JIRA tasks with the tag "gsoc2019" and wait for the
student to apply it.
