Re: Permissions (was Re: Copyright rules)

2015-07-10 Thread Roberta Marton
How do you know if you are on the JIRA's contributor list or not?
If I am not on the list please add me: Apache ID: rmarton

There seems to be many places where a contributor needs to be added, etc in
order to do work. Unfortunately, I have not been keeping track this. We
may want to produce a list so when a new contributor is added, we can make
sure everything is setup. Or if someone is no longer a contributor, they
can be removed in all the correct places.

  Thanks,
   Roberta

Permissions (was Re: Copyright rules)

2015-07-10 Thread Pierre Smits
Every contributor with commit privileges should be able to assign to him or
herself. If that is not the case, the appropriate persons should knock
somewhere else (mentors, INRA).

In another thread we discussed the ''Default plus Contributor Assign
Permission Scheme' regarding JIRA. I don't know whether that is possible
for podlings or, but this is something we should opt for. Contributors, of
course, need to register for JIRA. And the best thing would be to choose a
username that later later be used - when invitation happens - as their
Apache Id.

I advice any new contributor to send an email to this ml with the request
to be added to the contributors list stating their JIRA username, so we can
add their name to that list. Also I suggest new contributors file their
iCLA with the secretary of the ASF. It is a good way to show commitment and
will the process down the road.

Also, as (back-end) of JIRA, Confluence (wiki) and SVN/Git (commit
privilege) are disjunct, new contributors should register with Confluence
as well (using the same userid as for JIRA when possible) in order for
Confluence space admins to position contributors for creating and updating
pages.

Best regards,

Pierre Smits

When they are still contributing, why not.

If however, they moved out prior to the start of the incubation phase a
special 'Thank you'-page could be devised in the wiki where those names

keep the separation clear, while at the same time not forgetting those

the link you sent, it sounds like those should now be
   removed?

It is pretty explicit on what files should have in them
  regards
copyright:

If the source file is submitted with a copyright notice
   included
 in
   it,
the copyright owner (or owner's agent) must either:

1. remove such notices, or
   2. move them to the NOTICE file associated with each
 applicable
   project release, or
   3. provide written permission for the ASF to make
 such
 removal
  or
   relocation of the notices.

Later in the doc it talks about the NOTICES file format.

As Pierre suggest, a JIRA and patch to make the change
 would
  be
way
  to
go.

OK, all. I need the practice. So if someone needs to be added to JIRA as a

and I will add you. If you haven't been on JIRA before, you'll need to
create a JIRA log-on. Pick a user name that you would be happy with if you
