Sad to hear and thank you for your work.

Is there a list of unowned modules? Recently I heard that the serializer
code is also practically unowned. That's located in dom/base.

What is Mozilla's policy on this in general? How is it possible that
vital parts of Gecko are unowned?

Re: Stepping down as the module owner of editor/

2015-10-22 Thread Masayuki Nakano
At least for now, I don't have much time to work under editor/ except
when I need to work on it for fixing IME related bugs.

But for that, I've touched some code under editor/ related to event
handling. So, I think that it might be possible me to review some
patches which changes the event handlers in editor.

Although, I'd like to work on editor/ in the future.

As some of you may know, nobody has been actively working on the editor
module for about 3 years now. I started working on this module about 6
years ago and as the newest and only person working on it, I started to own
the Core::Editor module.

I've tried to make occasional fixes and review patches in my spare time for
the past 3 years, but currently with my other responsibilities I've been
unable to even keep up with the occasional patch reviews. I think it's
time for me to step down as the owner of editor/.

This makes me sad, and I've tried various ways of finding an active
contributor for this area of the code but have not had any success. If
someone is interested to take this over, please let me know and I will do
my best to help you.

I am planning to finish my outstanding code reviews by the end of this
month.

There is a list for Core at the end of
.

I don't think if we have a specific policy. Usually the reason is
limited resources as one might expect.

Perhaps what equally hurts editor more generally, and what has impacted
your decision in particularly, is the lack of peers on this module to
share the load.

Kudos for Ehsan taking the module in 2011 when it languished without any
owner or peers.
