Just a clarification, the SimplePush API wasn't shipping on any release
of Firefox on desktop or Android, so this is technically just removing
dead code and not unshipping.

Intent to unship: SimplePush API

 Hello,
the non-standard SimplePush API provided a mechanism for Firefox OS to
receive push messages before the standard Push API was finalized. With
the standard Push API now implemented in Gecko and already enabled on
Android builds it should be easy to enable it on B2G too (see [1] if you
want to help out with that). We have a number of consumers of this API
but they're only Firefox OS-specific (e.g. Telegram) but none of them
works on the current B2G trunk because of the ongoing changes to remove
non-standard API. As such I will be removing the SimplePush API in bug
1296579 [2].
