Attention: rawhide packages needing rebuilds due to the trailing slash bug of rpm-4.9.1

Hi all,

Due to the brown paperbag bug of rpm-4.9.1 causing unwanted trailing
slashes on directories (with various nasty side-effects), the following
packages in rawhide require rebuilding, the sooner the better to stop
spreading the damage:

date, if any of the packages above have a newer version in the rawhide
pipeline already (ie have been rebuilt within the last few days), no
further rebuilds are needed for those.

I'll be compiling a similar list for F16 shortly, we need to get rid of
any remaining trailing slashes before it goes final, and preferably much
before that.

I'd be happy to help fixing the damage I caused but chuckles I'm not a
provenpackager...

evolution-data-server's libcamel soname version bump in Fedora 16/rawhide for 3.1.90 next week

2011-08-17 Thread Milan Crha
Hi,
just after 3.1.5 release of evolution-data-server was added an API
change in libcamel, thus the next week, when 3.1.90 will be released and
I'll do an update in Fedora 16/rawhide, anything depending on libcamel
will require a rebuild.

Again, I'll take care of everything I will be able to, and I'll also add
it to the same update as evolution-data-server. After my yesterday turn,
there are still packages I cannot do anything with, also because other
dependency issues with them (like almanah depending on libcrypt), but I
will do my best to make this (most likely final) soname version bump not
that painful for others.
Bye,
Milan

Is it possible that anything now in updates-testing has got the bug?
Releng have been blocking updates from getting into f16-stable for some
time now, so I know I've got packages that were built several weeks ago
and are still waiting in testing. When exactly was the busted rpm
version present in the buildroots?

Default services enabled

2011-08-17 Thread Tim Waugh
Hi,

I'm having trouble finding a policy on which systemd units may be
enabled by default.

The case I'm interested in particularly is cups.socket, cups.path,
cups.service.

What's the current policy, and where can I find it on the wiki?

Is it possible that anything now in updates-testing has got the bug?
Releng have been blocking updates from getting into f16-stable for
some time now, so I know I've got packages that were built several
weeks ago and are still waiting in testing. When exactly was the
busted rpm version present in the buildroots?

We are trying to release a F16 Alpha, so only updates that fix blocker
bugs can go to stable until thats composed. Hopefully we will have that
today and the stable updates can push out.

Ah, thanks. So it looks like CUPS can be enabled by default:

If a service does not require configuration to be functional and is not
network enabled, it may be enabled by default

(The default CUPS configuration is localhost-only)

In the light of this I'll enable cups.path (to allow printing jobs which
are queued, on boot) and cups.socket (to allow on-demand start).

I'll leave cups.service out because that's only required for
network-enabled configurations -- but perhaps that needs a release note?

Need input for creating new icon

2011-08-17 Thread Richard Shaw
I'm working on packaging the spacenav group of programs one of which
is a gui app to setup the configuration of the spacenav daemon. It
currently doesn't provide an icon so I thought I'd try my hand at it.

Which resolutions do I really need to provide?

Since I'm a CAD guy I used Unigraphics to model and export a high
resolution image. Unfortunately the only export option was tiff. I
then opened it in GIMP and set the background as transparent and saved
it as a PNG.

Of course with this method SVG is not an option

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard

Jmol, Java and netscape.javascript

2011-08-17 Thread Jussi Lehtola
Hi,

I tried to update Jmol to the latest release, when I ran once again
into

error: package netscape.javascript does not exist
import netscape.javascript.JSObject;

My spec builds fine in Fedora 15, but fails to build in 16 and 17.
http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/gitweb/?p=jmol.git;a=blob;f=jmol.spec;hb=HEAD

Does someone have a solution to this problem?

This list was compiled from a F16 mirror and does NOT include
updates-testing, so if any of the packages above have a newer version in
the pipeline already, no further rebuilds are needed for those.

Is it possible that anything now in updates-testing has got the bug?
Releng have been blocking updates from getting into f16-stable for some
time now, so I know I've got packages that were built several weeks ago
and are still waiting in testing. When exactly was the busted rpm
 version present in the buildroots?

The buggy version was in buildroots briefly on July 15th, and then from
July 19th to 21st. The second period is where most of the damage
happened. So anything in updates[-testing|-pending] should not be
affected, as F16 was branched July 26th AFAICS.

The package is not standard part of Java. It is provided by plugin.jar.
In Fedora = 15 plugin.jar was included with the JDK (if the
java-1.6.0-openjdk-plugin package was installed). Now plugin.jar is
provided by icedtea-web.

My spec builds fine in Fedora 15, but fails to build in 16 and 17.

I think one possible fix would be to BuildRequire icedtea-web and
include /usr/share/icedtea-web/plugin.jar in the classpath.

evolution-data-server's libcamel soname version bump in Fedora 16/rawhide for 3.1.90 next week

Bye,
Milan

Fedora 16 Alpha Go/No-Go Meeting #2, Wednesday, August 17 @ 17:00 EDT

2011-08-17 Thread Robyn Bergeron
Sorry for belated notice, though I've talked to almost everyone involved
about the timing - have been travelling.

Join us on irc.freenode.net #fedora-meeting for this important meeting.

Wednesday, August 17, 2011 @22:00 UTC (17:00 EDT/14:00 PDT)

Before each public release Development, QA and Release Engineering
meet to determine if the release criteria are met for a particular
release. This meeting is called the: Go/No-Go Meeting.

Verifying that the Release criteria are met is the responsibility of
the QA Team.

For more details about this meeting see:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Go_No_Go_Meeting

In the meantime, keep an eye on the Fedora 16 Alpha Blocker list:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Current_Release_Blockers
