octave-communications changing License from GPLv2+ to GPLv3+

2014-05-26 Thread Thomas Sailer
I'm planning to push octave-communications 1.2.0 into rawhide soon,
which changes the license from GPLv2+ to GPLv3+. According to repoquery,
no package in the repository depends on octave-communications.

Does anyone object?

perl-RT-Client-REST changes license from (GPLv2) to (GPL+ or Artistic) in F21

2014-05-26 Thread Petr Pisar
perl-RT-Client-REST users should know that the package has changed
license in version 0.49. The license was (GPLv2), the license is the
tranditional Perl license (GPL+ or Artistic) now. This will take effect
in Fedora 21 and forward.

Hey Jeff!

Welcome to the Fedora Package Maintainers! I just approved your filed
review-request [1]. As you already have done some real good informal
reviews as mentioned here, we could skip this and I've just sponsored
you into the packager-group. The changes should be avail within the
next hour. You can now procceed with the SCM-admin-request as explained
here [2]. Please add me (besser82) on the InitialCC.

As a new packager, tt is always a good thing to do some review on
packages which are waiting for one [3]. Doing frequent package-reviews
drastically increases the opportunities for having someone review your
own package-review submissions. Another option is to negotiate
`review-swaps` over this list, like offering some packages for review
here and waiting for others to turn in their waiting packages in reply.

Great! Thanks again for all of your help. I've kicked off the process.

Use your new powers for good!

I can already feel my fingertips tingle! :)

Cheers,

Rebuilds for Boost 1.55 mostly done

2014-05-26 Thread Petr Machata
Hi there,

the rebuilds are mostly over, thanks for everyone who chimed in. Some
packages may have been double-rebuilt, as there was no synchronization
between the partakers.

Maybe next year I'll publish the list of packages on a wiki, organized
by dependencies, so that people at least know in what order to rebuild
the packages. People wishing to partake would annotate in the wiki. Or
something.  We'll see.

Anyway. This is the break-down of package failures with a short note
that I made for myself regarding the overt reason of failure. The
numbers are task ID's.

* Configury stuff:

  6877744   spring (CMake backward-compatibility unsupported)
  6879574 xs (autoreconf needs -if or something)
  6884300 dmlite-plugins-memcache (-std=c++11 not passed on command line)

* Dependency problems:

  6878034 sdcc (BFD: right-hand operand of comma expression has no effect)
  6878281 orthanc (some dep problem apparently)
  6878753   csound (no package java-gcj-compat-devel)
  6879835   hugin (requires libgcj-devel)
  6881932 scribus (Could NOT find PythonLibs)
gpsdrive (mising BR:freetype or something)

* Mysteriously hard C++ errors:

  6878277 kate-plugin-cpphelper (initlist vs. explicit ctor)
  6878306   clementine (namespace org::freedesktop::UDisks)
  6879204 libopkele (error: invalid abstract return type)
  6881504 pathfinder (error: invalid abstract return type)
  6879206   glob2 ('struct Game::BuildProject' is private)
  6888959 sdformat ('class urdf::Link' has no member named
'collision_groups')
  6888951 fawkes (error: 'textpara_t' has not been declared)

* Warnings turned errors:

  6878621 curlpp (a function defined but not used)
  6879564   libkni3 (-Werror=format-string)
  6881890   diet (-Werror=format-string)

* Something must have changed in lex/yacc toolchain, as the following
  two both have a problem with expected vs. actual number of parameters:

  6878948   ptlib (something with yyparser)
  6881211   rcssserver (something with lex)

* The following two need patching in KDE I think. The include file
  should be QtCore/QFile, shouldn't it? Tweaking -I in the client
  package also seems to work as a temporary measure:

  6878464 kradio4 (error: QFile: No such file or directory)
  6883795 kpilot (error: QFile: No such file or directory)

* Maven-related:

  6879292   bookkeeper
  6879822   zookeeper

* Assorted:

  6881502   Macaulay2 (Floating point exception)
  6881687   python-ufc (ghostscript)
  6882332   srecord (ghostscript)
  6881678   zorba (xqdoc Segmentation fault)
  6877049   ompl (test suite failure)
  6878957   monotone (false on ARM)
  6879562   librecad (patch mismatch)

* Timeouts:

  6888934   R-bigmemory
  6888920   libreoffice

Thanks,

[Bug 1094442] perl-libwww-perl: incorrect handling of SSL certificate verification [fedora-all]

2014-05-26 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1094442

--- Comment #9 from Petr Pisar ppi...@redhat.com ---
Thank you for the report. However there are two mistakes:

(1) The IO::Socket::SSL::new option is SSL_verifycn_scheme, not
SSL_verifycn_schema. Thus you could not find it in the documentation.

(2) The 6.04-3 behavior was flawed. As you can read in the upstream bug report,
the SSL_verify_mode option is about checking hostname. It's not intended to
control certificate validation. The same applies to
PERL_LWP_SSL_VERIFY_HOSTNAME environment variable. 6.04-4 has restored the
behavior which presented before 6.04.

 Thank you for the report. However there are two mistakes:

Ahh, sorry about that

 PERL_LWP_SSL_VERIFY_HOSTNAME environment variable. 6.04-4 has restored the
 behavior which presented before 6.04.

So what is the way for making HTTP requests to websites with self-signed
certificates from perl, if the user does not care about the CA chain
validation?

In other way, what is the way for making LWP behave the same way it used to
behave with pre-6 version?

[Bug 1094442] perl-libwww-perl: incorrect handling of SSL certificate verification [fedora-all]

2014-05-26 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1094442

--- Comment #11 from Petr Pisar ppi...@redhat.com ---
There is no LWP environment variable or command line option to control that
currently.

It's possible to pass ssl_opts = {SSL_verify_mode =
IO::Socket::SSL::SSL_VERIFY_NONE} to LWP::UserAgent::new if you write your own
LWP application.

This is also discussed in the upstream report.

The reason why the PERL_LWP_SSL_VERIFY_HOSTNAME seemed to work before is the
IO::Socket::SSL 1.950 defaulted to SSL_VERIFY_NONE. This has not been true
since Fedora 20. Unfortunately Fedora 20 delivered the flawed
LWP::Protocol::https, so it was not visible.

I agree with you that there should be way how to disable the certificate
validation externally.

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1094442 +++
[...]
--- Additional comment from Jan Pazdziora on 2014-05-26 10:55:43 GMT ---

(In reply to Petr Pisar from comment #9)
 Thank you for the report. However there are two mistakes:

 (1) The IO::Socket::SSL::new option is SSL_verifycn_scheme, not
 SSL_verifycn_schema. Thus you could not find it in the documentation.

Ahh, sorry about that
.
 (2) The 6.04-3 behavior was flawed. As you can read in the upstream bug
 report, the SSL_verify_mode option is about checking hostname. It's not
 intended to control certificate validation. The same applies to
 PERL_LWP_SSL_VERIFY_HOSTNAME environment variable. 6.04-4 has restored the
 behavior which presented before 6.04.

So what is the way for making HTTP requests to websites with self-signed
certificates from perl, if the user does not care about the CA chain
validation?

In other way, what is the way for making LWP behave the same way it used to
behave with pre-6 version?

--- Additional comment from Petr Pisar on 2014-05-26 11:20:51 GMT ---

Re: [389-devel] SLAPI_REQUESTOR_ISROOT for extop plugins

Hi all,

I have noticed recently that for extop plugins the
SLAPI_REQUESTOR_ISROOT parameter is never set.
Is that intended behaviour?
Looks like you're right, don't know if it was intended, but wouldn't
think so. Can you open a ticktet if you want to get it fixed ?

Regards,
Ludwig

 From the plugin guide chapter 53.3 I would assume it should be ..

  Jochen

A new project I'm working on

2014-05-26 Thread Becklin Haston
Hello, all!

wM here, and I'd like to show a new project that I'm working on in Python.

It's called Sue, and it's my pseudocode-to-Python translator; that is to
say, I'm essentially writing a programming language that takes natural
language input as its source code. I came up with the idea about a week and
a half ago, and then I started working on implementations. Though, it
wasn't until last night that I found out that I was not the first to start
out on a project like this. There is a programming language called
HyperTalkhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HyperTalk that
also takes natural language inputs. I think that HyperTalk has some good
ideas, such as the use of prepositional arguments for file and variable
manipulation, so I may take some inspiration from that language. I have
also been doing research on Lex and Yacc so that I can go deeper into
computational language development.

Without further ado, here's Sue. https://github.com/PDFormat/Sue

Re: Proposal: Use and Require CLA for QA Devel Project Contributions

2014-05-26 Thread Kamil Paral
 That being said, the kernel-style DCO [1] might be worth considering.
 Nothing fancy, just documentation that lists the DCO and says that by
 contributing code, you agree to its terms. I'm not sure we need to deal
 with signing off on code since we don't have a complicated merge
 process, though.

 This is almost no barrier to entry and reduces the possibility for
 folks to be confused about which license they're contributing under.
 Overall, I figure it covers most of the use cases we're interested in
 (other than possibly reverting back to an older license, which isn't a
 big deal) without causing un-needed problems.

I thought that the ability to revert to an older license was one of the reasons
for the proposal. I'm not sure why it's not a big deal anymore?

Unfortunately I don't have any further comments or recommendations, because I'm
utterly lost in this legal mumbo-jumbo, sorry.
