octave-communications changing License from GPLv2+ to GPLv3+
I'm planning to push octave-communications 1.2.0 into rawhide soon, which changes the license from GPLv2+ to GPLv3+. According to repoquery, no package in the repository depends on octave-communications. Does anyone object? I just approved your filed review-request [1]. As you already have done some real good informal reviews as mentioned here, we could skip this and I've just sponsored you into the packager-group. The changes should be avail within the next hour. You can now procceed with the SCM-admin-request as explained here [2]. Please add me (besser82) on the InitialCC. As a new packager, tt is always a good thing to do some review on packages which are waiting for one [3]. Doing frequent package-reviews drastically increases the opportunities for having someone review your own package-review submissions. Another option is to negotiate `review-swaps` over this list, like offering some packages for review here and waiting for others to turn in their waiting packages in reply. Great! Thanks again for all of your help. I've kicked off the process. Use your new powers for good! Rebuilds for Boost 1.55 mostly done
Hi there, the rebuilds are mostly over, thanks for everyone who chimed in. Some packages may have been double-rebuilt, as there was no synchronization between the partakers. Maybe next year I'll publish the list of packages on a wiki, organized by dependencies, so that people at least know in what order to rebuild the packages. However there are two mistakes: (1) The IO::Socket::SSL::new option is SSL_verifycn_scheme, not SSL_verifycn_schema. Thus you could not find it in the documentation. (2) The 6.04-3 behavior was flawed. As you can read in the upstream bug report, the SSL_verify_mode option is about checking hostname. It's not intended to control certificate validation. [Bug 1094442] perl-libwww-perl: incorrect handling of SSL certificate verification [fedora-all]
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1094442 --- Comment #11 from Petr Pisar ppi...@redhat.com --- There is no LWP environment variable or command line option to control that currently. It's possible to pass ssl_opts = {SSL_verify_mode = IO::Socket::SSL::SSL_VERIFY_NONE} to LWP::UserAgent::new if you write your own LWP application. This is also discussed in the upstream report. The reason why the PERL_LWP_SSL_VERIFY_HOSTNAME seemed to work before is the IO::Socket::SSL 1.950 defaulted to SSL_VERIFY_NONE. This has not been true since Fedora 20. Unfortunately Fedora 20 delivered the flawed LWP::Protocol::https, so it was not visible. However there are two mistakes: (1) The IO::Socket::SSL::new option is SSL_verifycn_scheme, not SSL_verifycn_schema. Thus you could not find it in the documentation. Ahh, sorry about that . (2) The 6.04-3 behavior was flawed. As you can read in the upstream bug report, the SSL_verify_mode option is about checking hostname. It's not intended to control certificate validation. The same applies to PERL_LWP_SSL_VERIFY_HOSTNAME environment variable. 6.04-4 has restored the behavior which presented before 6.04. So what is the way for making HTTP requests to websites with self-signed certificates from perl, if the user does not care about the CA chain validation? In other way, what is the way for making LWP behave the same way it used to behave with pre-6 version? --- Additional comment from Petr Pisar on 2014-05-26 11:20:51 GMT --- There is no LWP environment variable or command line option to control that currently. I agree with you that there should be way how to disable the certificate validation externally. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. A new project I'm working on
Hello, all! wM here, and I'd like to show a new project that I'm working on in Python. It's called Sue, and it's my pseudocode-to-Python translator; that is to say, I'm essentially writing a programming language that takes natural language input as its source code. I came up with the idea about a week and a half ago, and then I started working on implementations. Though, it wasn't until last night that I found out that I was not the first to start out on a project like this. There is a programming language called HyperTalkhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HyperTalk that also takes natural language inputs. I think that HyperTalk has some good ideas, such as the use of prepositional arguments for file and variable manipulation, so I may take some inspiration from that language. I have also been doing research on Lex and Yacc so that I can go deeper into computational language development. Without further ado, here's Sue. https://github.com/PDFormat/Sue wM. ___ python-devel mailing list python-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/python-devel
Re: Proposal: Use and Require CLA for QA Devel Project Contributions
That being said, the kernel-style DCO [1] might be worth considering. Nothing fancy, just documentation that lists the DCO and says that by contributing code, you agree to its terms. I'm not sure we need to deal with signing off on code since we don't have a complicated merge process, though. This is almost no barrier to entry and reduces the possibility for folks to be confused about which license they're contributing under. Overall, I figure it covers most of the use cases we're interested in (other than possibly reverting back to an older license, which isn't a big deal) without causing un-needed problems. I thought that the ability to revert to an older license was one of the reasons for the proposal. I'm not sure why it's not a big deal anymore? Unfortunately I don't have any further comments or recommendations, because I'm utterly lost in this legal mumbo-jumbo, sorry. ___ qa-devel mailing list qa-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/qa-devel
