Re: Fedora developer portal - proof of concept
Hi everyone, I updated the prototype and tried apply your feedback: https://developer-phracek.rhcloud.com/ I removed everything random from the home page and changed it - so it better explains the purpose of the portal. The previous version was more about previewing the technology and structure in the main menu. The homepage itself wasn't that important - sorry again for not making this clear in advance. We should be now able to use the prototype to: - preview the content from our content repo [1] (it's better than reading markdown) - decide whether this structure is acceptable (and probably change it a lot) - and basically have something running What it's not in the prototype: - section with docker images and vagrant boxes to download - section with blogs and updates What I would like to do next? Ideally, if you find some time, I would like to have a session with you, people interested in this project, to discuss the content, structure and basically everything related to this. For example, I really like how the Fedora Hubs project [2] is going. If we could do something similar, even when the Fedora Developer Portal is not that big, it would be really nice. If you don't know what this is all about, please visit our project wiki [3] or ask me any question. DNF Changes causing fedora-review errors
I ran across this while doing a fedora-review: Package does not own files or directories owned by other packages. Note: Dirs in package are owned also by: /usr/lib/gap/pkg/aclib/gap(languages, langpacks:, enabled, are, No), /usr/lib/gap/pkg/aclib/htm(languages, langpacks:, enabled, are, No), /usr/lib/gap/pkg/aclib/doc(languages, langpacks:, enabled, are, No), /usr/lib/gap/pkg/aclib(languages, langpacks:, enabled, are, No) It apparently can be resolved by upgrading to dnf-langpacks-0.12.0-2 More detail can be found here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1244531 Just wanted folks to be aware that the recent dnf changes are affecting the packaging tools. -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct

I came up with with this system unit for testing purposes: [Unit] Description=Test unit [Service] Type=oneshot ExecStart=/usr/sbin/getpcaps self Capabilities=cap_net_bind_service+ep SecureBits=keep-caps User=fweimer StandardOutput=journal Off-topic: This last line is implied, no need to specify. However, this does not work, the capability set remains empty. Is there a way to achieve what I want? No. Capabilities currently cannot be passed across exec() without fcaps... This design is really odd because setting file capabilities always increases the attack surface (even if it is just the inheritable bits), and the only alternative appears to modify the service so that it is capability-aware and switches away from UID 0, and grant sufficient capabilities so that it can do so. At that point, you can just skip the configuration in the systemd service and do everything capablity-related within the program. Yeah, Capabilities= is not particularly useful. CapabilityBoundingSet= is much more useful, as that is not affected by fcaps. But then again, it has quite a different effect... What's worse is that in kernels before 2.6.24 passing caps across exec() actually worked fine. Kernel broke API heavily in this regard by introducing fcaps and altering the caps inheritance logic then. Re: Orphaned SoundConverter
Hi, I'd love to help you to maintain soundconverter, I use it oftenly, and I don't want it to desepear :) I'm in holiday now, but I'll be glade to help you since I can. I don't have a big experience in package maintaining, I only maintain openmw in the rpmfusion repo. Package soundconverter will still have the initial owner, but over the past five years I've been the only one to work on the package. I really would have liked the occasional commit from someone else. It has not been a low-maintenance package. Lots of bugs, race-conditions, debugging and fixing required. Upstream contact has been good. What else could be interesting for someone who would like to take over? The current version is based on Python 2 and GStreamer 0.10.x. There is a bit of work already on creating a version based on Python 3 and GStreamer 1.0.x API, but nothing usable yet. -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct

Re: Improving our processes for new contributors.
Dne 21.7.2015 v 19:28 Neal Gompa napsal(a): Accessing the Copr site is as slow as trying to search our Bugzilla (which is very slow indeed). Opening up pages describing Copr repos is slow too. I occasionally get browser timeouts accessing Copr. As for builds, those seem to be okay, but everything else is obnoxiously slow. This issue was identified and fixed 2 weeks ago. Is it really slow for you even in these days? If I want to be /really/ nitpicky, it's also not picking up my libravatar.org http://libravatar.org avatar either. Your email in Copr is ngSNIP@fedoraproject.org, while your email is stored in FAS is your gmail email. I assume that your libravatar is not showing because you do not have libravatar associated with your @fedoraproject.org email alias. However I wonder why Copr have different email from FAS. Copr update email from FAS every time you log into Copr. So unless you change it recently and not logged into Copr since then it should not be different. -- Miroslav Suchy, RHCA Red Hat, Senior Software Engineer, #brno, #devexp, #fedora-buildsys -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct

DNF 1.0.2 Released
Finally there’s the new release of DNF which fixes the bugs which were highly demanded from Fedora community (former yum users). When a transaction is not successfully finished DNF preserves downloaded packages until the next successful transaction. The resolution configuration hints are printed to the output and user is notified which packages were skipped during update in case there are conflicts. The new –repofrompath switch was added and many more features implemented and bugs fixed[1]. What's the usual policy? Should I be doing it? (Can I do it, if I don't have privs to commit a new %release to the spec file and push that?) If I'm supposed to be doing it then I'll get started immediately :-) -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct
Re: F-23 Branched report: 20150720 changes
Furthermore, I run my rawhide machine today and tried `dnf update`, which didn't offer me the update of the evolution-data-server. I'd expect to have it offered after two days of the koji build. Maybe I missed some policy/update change? Hi again, it looks like a dnf issue, see below. Even manual update from dnf-1.0.1-3.fc23.noarch to dnf-1.0.2-2.fc24.noarch didn't help. Fedora Docker Images containing fedora-updates-testing packages
Hello, Wanted to point out an issue with the official Fedora Docker container image for the fedora:20 image. While testing an internally developed package, I ran into a package dependency problem with the installed openssl-libs package which appears to have been installed from [root@fedora-20 ~]# yum install /usr/bin/authconfig ... Error: Package: 1:openssl-1.0.1e-42.fc20.x86_64 (updates) Requires: openssl-libs(x86-64) = 1:1.0.1e-42.fc20 Installed: 1:openssl-libs-1.0.1e-45.fc20.x86_64 (@fedora-updates-testing/$releasever) openssl-libs(x86-64) = 1:1.0.1e-45.fc20 Available: 1:openssl-libs-1.0.1e-30.fc20.x86_64 (fedora) openssl-libs(x86-64) = 1:1.0.1e-30.fc20 Available: 1:openssl-libs-1.0.1e-42.fc20.x86_64 (updates) openssl-libs(x86-64) = 1:1.0.1e-42.fc20 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest You can reproduce easily enough by pulling the latest available fedora:20 image from Docker and trying to install the authconfig-gtk package. I tried with the fedora:21 container and it does not have the same problem.
