dnf pulling in kernel-debug for L2TP
I was trying to figure out why I had kernel-debug* packages installed, and tracked it to xl2tpd wanting "kmod(l2tp_ppp.ko)". That is provided by kernel-debug-modules-extra and kernel-modules-extra; dnf choose to install the -debug version (which then pulls in the debug kernel as well). That means that any kernel update downloads more data and takes longer to install, and the boot menu has twice as many options (which can be confusing to some people). I looked in bugzilla, and there are already two bugs (at least) for this: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1192189 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1284228 The first one is almost 2 years old! That means that anybody that wants L2TP support (which is in some default package sets I believe) gets unneeded debug kernels. Surely something can be done to fix this? It seems that the root of the problem is that dnf resolves dependencies differently from yum and refuses to change to the old well-known behavior. -- Chris Adams___ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

Reverting dnf history does not work if packages are missing from repository. Besides "koji" command is not installed on my machine, and hence not on default install. Your suggestion for users is to install "RPM Development Tools" group? I don't see how this command would help in what I usually do when I need stuff that is missing from repo, other then a little bit more convenience perhaps. That is to locate the packages in koji.fedoraproject.org and pass the urls to curl. ___ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

So setting a cache size of 20GB for a 10Mb database doesn't matter, as we'll still only use ~10Mb of memory. The inverse of this, is that if we did set cachesize on database size, what happens with a large online bulkload? We would need to retune the database cache size, which means a restart of the application. Not something that IPA/Admins want to hear. I think it's safer to just have the higher number. -- Sincerely, William Brown Software Engineer Red Hat, Brisbane signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ 389-devel mailing list -- 389-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to 389-devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

Is there a reason you couldn't disable the tests for only pc and s390x, but leave the packages building? Excluding them via ExcludeArch means you will have more work to do to fix up dependencies and such after the tests are fixed. josh > > Either way, I'll report the bug upstream (even though I don't know how > since they don't appear to have a bug tracker). Test failures for libsearpc on ppc and s390 arch
Hi, I recently (2016-10-23) updated libsearpc on rawhide. I also proposed the update of fedora 25 [1] (still in testing). After my successful build on rawhide, Dan Horak opened a bug [2] about test failures on ppc and s390 architectures with the update. The previous version doesn't seem affected by this issue. I'd like some inputs on how I can do to solve these issues and update or push back packages that require libsearpc in fedora (ccnet, seafile and seafile- client). I see two solutions (skipping the tests isn't one IMHO): - Downgrade to the previous version in rawhide and f25 (I am not sure if it's event possible or a good idea) - Exclude ppc and s390 for libspearpc and its dependencies until the tests are fixed on these architectures. Either way, I'll report the bug upstream (even though I don't know how since they don't appear to have a bug tracker). I don't think I'll be able to propose a patch for it, my knowledge of C is to limited. [Test-Announce] Proposal to CANCEL: 2016-11-07 Fedora QA Meeting
Hi folks! I'm proposing we cancel the QA meeting again tomorrow. The final F25 Test Day went off without a hitch, and now I think we're just focused on Final validation. Final Go/No-Go is 2016-11-10, so we need to get those tests run and those blocker bugs fixed! If you think there is something we need to discuss, please do reply to this mail and we can go ahead and schedule the meeting! Wearing my Go hat, I observe that you are mixing together general properties ("Which (architecture specific) ABI variant is in use in object X?") with language-specific properties ("agree upon the format of long double?"). I encourage a clear separation of those two different kinds of notes. I'm not sure how to draw the line. I consider the size and format of “long double” very much an ABI matter. The psABI uses C types throughout, although it is used for much more than just C . There is no language-independent name I know of for the floating point type larger than the type which resembles IEEE double precision floats. But I would expect that Ada's definition of Long_Long_Float would have to be adjusted to align with ABI changes in this area. [Test-Announce] 2016-11-07 @ ** 17:00 UTC ** - Fedora 25 Blocker Review
# F25 Blocker Review meeting # Date: 2016-11-07 # Time: ** 17:00 UTC ** # Location: #fedora-blocker-review on irc.freenode.net Hi folks! Note that daylight saving ended today in most places that use it, so the meeting will be at 17:00 UTC from now until DST starts again. If you changed your clocks today, the meeting is at the same local time. If your area doesn't have DST, or you change your clocks later, it will be an hour later than before. We currently have 7 proposed Final blockers and 9 proposed Final freeze exceptions to review. There are also 4 accepted Final blockers to check in on. If you have time today, you can take a look at the proposed or accepted blockers before the meeting - the full lists can be found here: https://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/ . We'll be evaluating these bugs to see if they violate any of the Release Criteria and warrant the blocking of a release if they're not fixed. Information on the release criteria for F25 can be found on the wiki [0].
