I built a snapshot of Calamares master (with support for the new kpmcore) in
Rawhide:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=817259

I expect this to get released around the same time as KPM.

Now, after a 12-hour porting session with Neal Gompa (he did the porting, I
the testing), the code is finally working with Python 3 too!

https://github.com/kkofler/livecd-tools

Python 2 is still supported. You need Python 2 ≥ 2.6 or Python 3 ≥ 3.3. I
tested with:
python-2.7.12-6.fc24.x86_64
python3-3.5.2-3.fc24.x86_64

The Python 3 port is of course based on the DNF port. (The old YUM does not
support Python 3.)

So this issue:
> * It is still using Python 2, and thus needs python2-dnf (which nothing

is now addressed. The other caveats still stand though.

Or "dnf install --enablerepo=updates-testing gstreamer1-plugin-mpg123"

No, it will probably be available by default in *F26*. For F25 you'll
have to get it from GNOME Software or the missing codec installer.

can we add a flag to set the hostname at enrollment time?

I guess I am unusual in setting all of my host names at install/initial

Which lies in the problem. If people are going to derive hashes from
it they will do so any way the want and most likely it will be leaked
out by someone doing a sum or just copying it etc. If there is
something 'unique' on a system, it will leak out eventually. All you
can do is try to design to drip out slowly or pour out all at once.
Trying to find some happy middle ground ends up usually with it
pouring out all at once when no one expected it.

Huh? That address works fine, I just sent a test mail to it and it arrived.

You can also use calamares-ow...@fedoraproject.org (which, according to the
policies, should have been CCed on this announcement).

> now I will take note of this your new email address

It's not my "new" e-mail address, it's the actual ISP account to which
ke...@tigcc.ticalc.org also forwards. But sure, you can send to it directly.

That would be appreciated. Though I don't think it matters much if Calamares
is broken for a few days in Rawhide. :-)

(By the way, you can write me in Italian if you want, I'm an Italian citizen
and, even though I was born and live in Austria and was taught German as a
mother tongue, I speak Italian fluently.)

Kpmcore usually bumps soname when they make some incompatible API changes
(that of course also change the ABI), not just ABI, so there are usually
other changes needed. Calamares has them done already, in its master branch,
I will update the package to a snapshot in Rawhide. I think a release is
planned when the kpmcore release happens.

OK, I can update Calamares in Rawhide to master.

Shall we take commit access to each other's packages in the stack (kpmcore,
kde-partitionmanager, calamares) to coordinate this kind of updates? Also so
that we will also be able to push them to stable releases (at least F25,
which will be out by then) when the new versions get officially released? I
can give you commit access to calamares if you want it. (That said, I am
probably the one who knows best what changes, if any, are needed to the
config files from one release to another, so it's probably best if I take
care of the Rawhide package.)

Hi Kevin,
I've tried to contact you directly to inform of the soname bump, but in
FAS I found the email ke...@tigcc.ticalc.org which gave me an error of
nonexistent domain when sending the email... now I will take note of
this your new email address and I will inform you a week ahead of a new
soname bump.

There's no problem to give you commit access to kpmcore and
kde-partitionmanager, if you give me commit access to calamares I can
chain build it when a new libkpmcore soname bump will happen (if there
are no other changes required).

Thanks
Mattia
