Package submission question
I have a version of the gpsd package which I believe addresses this ticket https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1390812. I've been looking around about the right way to submit. I thought it would be by using a pull request from within the pagure instance at src.fedoraproject.org. However, I cannot authenticate with my ssh key. There is no where to add it within pagure, and my FAS key doesn't seem to be sufficient. So perhaps this isn't they way? Then I was reading through http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join_the_package_collection_maintainers#Create_Your_Review_Request , but it seems a bit geared toward brand new packages, so I was not sure if that was in fact the proper coarse. I'd appreciate any pointers as to the proper direction to get this updated package updated. In the meantime, I'll fix the rpmlint warnings I just found! We should keep 7, but as ImageMagick7 instead. Well if we go to have ImageMagick6 and ImageMagick7 in F27+ and since ImageMagick7 should be the main package, in my point of view , we should add ImageMagick6 package and maintain ImageMagick as is , like, for example, openssl-1.1 and compat-openssl10 . The command line syntax is not compatible. There is a subset of compatibility, which is how we made virt-builder work interchangably with both, but as soon as you want to do anything advanced you need to know if you're using gpg1 or gpg2. (BTW another small complication to catch the unwary is that "gpgv2" is not "GPG Version 2", but GPG in Verification-only mode, version 2.) Having said all of that, GPG 1 is obsolete. The only use would be supporting PGP 2 messages, which seem to date from the early-mid 1990s. IIRC, we've been doing this in Fedora ourselves since 2008 (and RHEL hasn't shipped gpg1 since RHEL 5), so we should just go ahead and do it. AFAIK, the only thing that matters that uses GPGv1 is sigul, but I think Patrick Uiterwijk has or is porting it to gpg2. -- 真実はいつも一つ!/ Always, there's only one truth! ___ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

Re: Urgent attention required; ImageMagick update breakage

This could makessome sense, if these are really used and if vulnerabilities can be reacted upon/fixed in the old versions. If the latter doesn't apply, it would be better to those remove package which requires these old libs from the distro. The binaries share a name so we could use alternatives and default to version 6. IMO, alternatives don't make any sense, here, because alternatives requires binaries to be call backward compatible. Versioned binaries could make some sense if the these binaries are not call-compatible.
