 monitorix-3.10.0-1.el6 (FEDORA-EPEL-2017-ff46fb3951)
A free, open source, lightweight system monitoring tool

Update Information:

This new version introduces two new graphs and improves clearly an old one: the
System graph. After a notable people demand, I've included a new graph to
monitor IPMI sensors (temperatures, fans and voltages). The second new graph
monitors an unlimited number of MongoDB servers (either local or remote). As
said, the System graph has been improved and now it includes two new sub-graphs:
one that shows the system's entropy and another that shows the uptime of the
system. The memory graph has also been enhanced including the values of memory
active and inactive. Besides these new graphs, this version introduces a new
option (enabled by default) called enable_parallelizing, which will speed up
dramatically the graph generation in multi-core systems. This should also
benefit people using Monitorix in Raspberry Pi systems and similar with multi-
core processors. I'll be glad to get some feedback on this. More news, since

Well, those guidelines do say:

"Package names should be in lower case and use dashes in preference to
underscores."

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Naming, under "General Naming".

Upper case names aren't forbidden, of course, but there is a definite
and clearly-stated preference for lower case names.

[Bug 1496272] New: Perl's ccflags do not include a -Wformat option

2017-09-26 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1496272

Bug ID: 1496272
Summary: Perl's ccflags do not include a -Wformat option
   Product: Fedora
   Version: 26
 Component: perl
  Assignee: jples...@redhat.com
  Reporter: sc...@perturb.org
QA Contact: extras...@fedoraproject.org

Description of problem:

Perl's ccflags do not include a -Wformat option. Attempting to compile Vim with
Perl support I ran in to this bug: https://github.com/vim/vim/issues/2068

How reproducible:
Easily

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run: perl -V:ccflags
2. Note the output includes "-Werror=format-security" but no corresponding
-Wformat

Actual results:
bakers@yellow(~/github/vim)
:perl -V:ccflags
ccflags='-D_REENTRANT -D_GNU_SOURCE -O2 -g -pipe -Wall -Werror=format-security
-Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions -fstack-protector-strong
--param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -grecord-gcc-switches -m64 -mtune=generic -fwrapv
-fno-strict-aliasing -I/usr/local/include -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE
-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64';

Expected results:
Some type of -Wformat would be included

Additional info:
Vim calls ExtUtils::Embed to get the cflags and it is also incorrect (I assume
they're closely related).

bakers@yellow(~/github/vim)
:perl -Mlib=src/ -MExtUtils::Embed -e 'ccflags;perl_inc;print"\n"'
 -D_REENTRANT -D_GNU_SOURCE -O2 -g -pipe -Wall -Werror=format-security
-Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions -fstack-protector-strong
--param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -grecord-gcc-switches -m64 -mtune=generic -fwrapv
-fno-strict-aliasing -I/usr/local/include -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE

Ah ... you're implying package (1) has a dependency on net-tools then
package (2) has a dependency on (1) but uses the net-tools binaries without
declaring on the dependency?

Well that would be a technical breach of the packaging guidelines so that's
a good thing to catch - and why we are doing this in rawhide only :)

But that has nothing to do with BuildRequires though ... that's just an
implicit dependency due to improper declarations and a bit of an accident
on the Requires front...

The misunderstanding came from the BuildRequires discussion - which has
nothing to do with an implicit dependency via a downstream chain of deps
which is what you are discussing ...

But again that's why the directive from FESCo is Rawhide only for changes
to specs ... and if it catches missing Requires that's a good thing :)

If you're willing to lend a hand with testing things I'd love to have the
help :)

If you aren't willing to help ... well we don't let fear of hypotheticals
like that stop us trying to make the world a better place :)

Self Introduction: Sergey Avseyev

2017-09-26 Thread Sergey Avseyev
Hi Fedora Community

My name is Sergey Avseyev. I live in Minsk, Belarus and work for Couchbase.

My main interests are revolving around networking and databases.
At Couchbase I work on libcouchbase (the client library with C interface)
and PHP extension built atop of libcouchbase. I have build and currently
maintaining our YUM repository with binary packages for libcouchbase.
And currently I have it submitted for review to become part of Fedora.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1495985

This is my first package and I need a sponsor
I currently have a package submitted for review:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1495004 (please be gentle)
and need a sponsor.

Once this package will be accepted, I'm going to submit my PHP extension
too.

Best regards.

Packages that BR net-tools (or its commands) may be expecting it to be
installed without explicitly specifying an install dependency, and just

That doesn't make sense.

There is only net-tools on a system if a requires/recommends pulls it in or
a user installs it.

The presence of net-tools in a BR will not cause it to be an R for any
install situations ...

If I have missed anything you're aware of that requires net-tools please
add it to the tracking bug :)

scope of this to blow out to the less reasonable.

First phase let's get the package off systems where it's not absolutely
required or requested by the user...

Then BR can be cleaned up in the background without affecting user systems.

It's not necessarily hard or problematic. There's just a really long

There is a thing called "DPLY" which gives free access to a Digital

Thanks, it looks more promising for such tasks, I'll bookmark it.

However, is it really that hard/problematic/.. for Fedora to support

If yes, then apparently using a third-party system is the only option.

We don't require volunteers to do a through line-by-line code audit.
That's not reasonable. We by necessity put some trust in our upstream
communities (and by the same token, we don't take ownership of upstream
problems, although we certainly try to get the best fixes for our
users).

--- Doc Text *updated* by Eric Christensen ---
A heap write buffer overflow was found in perl's S_regatom() function, which is
used in the compilation of regular expressions, resulting in the crash of the
perl interpreter. An attacker, able to provide a specially crafted regular
expression, could cause a denial of service.

The solution in this case is to not volunteer to do things you are

Those are the list of packages I just orphanated:

sway -- i3-compatible window manager for Wayland

I'm interested in taking sway, but it seems to be broken atm, it
segfaults right after login (F26). Is that a known issue? Have you had a
look at it?

If not, I'll give it a try.

I think that both the package name and executable should be "zegrapher".
The appdata and desktop files and the displayed name can all be "ZeGrapher",
but the stuff that you type should be lowercase.

There's two pull requests upstream for that, so this shouldn't be a problem ;)

diff. First you review 100GB code, and then you review differences only.
Actually you do not need to review 100GB of code. You can unbudle it
first. I doubt the 100GB were written from scratch.

Are there any tools you'd like to suggest for reviewing 100GB
(or even 10MB) of code?

Rich.

A packager is responsible for reviewing the code before uploading it to the
Fedora infrastructure. It does not mattter whether the code matches what
upstream released. Actually in some cases the code is intentionally
changed by the packagers (e.g. when removing bad-licensed code).

In other words Fedora does not care about MITM between the upstream and
the packager. What matters is connection between the packager and
Fedora.

That does not mean the packager should not be concerned by MITM on him
or upstream. It just cannot to be Fedora's business.
