Do these compose reports need to spam devel@ ?
I don't think most packagers are involved in composes, and it's hard
to follow devel@ when it's so busy. It's already cross-posting to
test@, that should be enough... perhaps there can be a composes@ list
for these? Then folks can opt in.

It means we're in the middle of an infra outage.

+1. Unfortunately, I can't log in or comment there, because attempting
to log in creates an error page with the phrase "discoveryfailure",

When can this be expected to be pushed to production?

 RBTools-1.0.2-1.el7 (FEDORA-EPEL-2019-2498e6070f)
 Tools for use with ReviewBoard

Update Information:

# RBTools 1.0.2 Release Notes## Packaging * The ``backports.shutil``
package is no longer needed or installed on Python 3.x. Patch by Stephen
Gallagher. ## New Features ### rbt post * Added helpful instructions when
configuring RBTools to use the wrong Review Board server URL. When
encountering a bad URL, RBTools will try to determine the mistake and offer
advice for fixing it. For instance, if it appears to be an RBCommons_ URL, it
will notify if the URL is constructed correctly or if the team could not be
found. Ultimately, this avoids confusion and frustration we've seen when first
getting going with RBTools. * Reworked Two-Factor Authentication support for
[RBCommons](https://rbcommons.com/). This release will be needed going forward
in order to support two-factor authentication with RBCommons accounts. *
Added a :option:`--no-renames` flag for removing rename information from Git
diffs. This is used to override the default behavior in which we have Git look
for file changes that could be renames. It's useful when Git is finding
changes that should be seen as entirely new files and turning them into
renamed files. Patch by Brian LeBlanc. ## Bug Fixes ### General * Fixed
several general Python 3.x compatibility issues. This includes fixes for
executing external processes and retrieving output, executing aliases, custom
RBTools commands, iterating through resources in the API, and errors in some
help output. ### Aliases * Fixed parsing of shell-based aliases. When using
aliases that make use of shell-based commands (ones starting with ``!``),
RBTools no longer strips any quotes in the command or evaluates escape
sequences, instead allowing the shell to handle this. Patch by Barret Rennie.
### API * Fixed Python 3.x compatibility issues with iterating through pages of
resources. * Improved error output when encountering missing resources. ###
Git * Fixed working with Git clones that don't have an ``origin`` remote.
RBTools will now try to determine an appropriate remote. If
:option:`--tracking-branch` was provided, that remote will be used, otherwise
the remote configured for the current branch will be used. If a suitable
remote could not be found, the first configured remote (or ``origin`` if not
found) will be used, and a warning will be shown. ### Perforce * Fixed
including information on binary files in diffs. (:bug:`3659`) ### rbt diff *
Fixed Unicode compatibility issues on Python 3.x. (:bug:`4754`) ### rbt patch
* Fixed applying patches from users with private profiles. If a user has
marked their profile private, their full name and e-mail address wouldn't be
available, causing :command:`rbt patch` to crash. * Fixed :option:`rbt patch
--print` on Python 3.x. (:bug:`4736`) Patch by Basil Crow. ### rbt post *
Fixed compatibility with Python 3.5. (:bug:`4762`) Patch by David Cain. ##
Contributors * Barret Rennie * Basil Crow * Brian LeBlanc * Christian Hammond *
David Cain * David Trowbridge * Stephen Gallagher

Well, I am all for privacy as well. Here, however, we're talking about
our activity in the open forum: our hobbies or jobs. Right now , to use
my favorite analogy, we treat our computer accounts as pets---but the
technology results in so many  of them that we need to learn to treat
them as cattle. I DO want to federate all (or at least most) of my
computer accounts under my 'official' identity. If I wanted to hide my
crocheting activities hidden from the world at large, I should still be
able to create a separate identity.

And if, heaven forbid, the universal authentication became
compromised, it would destroy an individual.

The single authentication does not have to be a single point of failure:
access to individual resources could still be  gated by per-resource
passwords or other secret identifiers. This is all still in flux :
nobody knows how to do it correctly in a way that is both secure and
convenient---maybe it'll take some sort of hardware security tokens like
Yubico or RSA, or maybe software credential stores that use built-in
security mechanisms like TPM and/or ARM TrustZone.

The current situation of completely separate authentication schemes is
unsustainable, and has to change into some more-like-herding-cattle scheme.

Why add python2 support? epel7 has python3 support nowadays.

This is still on my backlog, ideally, to also add python2 support and
add it to epel7. Miro was so nice and fixed the package in rawhide so
it works with python3.

Hi,

What is now sending fedmsg events when a new package is added to
Fedora? Amongst other thigns, we have a badge that isn't being
awarded and I can't even figure out how to easily audit to catch it
up.

thanks,

But they *do desperately* need attention - more than we can give them.

Most packages are severely outdated or suffer from bitrot - and it didn't
help that eclipse dropped support for 32bit architectures, which broke
almost half our packages on 32bit arches. We still don't have a solution
for that.

And concerning FTBFS issues - we fixed those, but there's no guarantee that
we can manage to do that for fedora 32 again.

We never promised more than a "life extension" for these packages. The SIG
can act as glue so that the foundation other packagers depend on doesn't
crumble over night. But if the foundations don't settle and these packages
get permanent maintainers, glue won't be enough to keep it together.

*Two* fedora releases? That's a bit optimistic.

No. I outlined the procedure were following multiple times, and at the
current rate, it will take 1-2 years to go through all our packages. So
actually, for packages deeper in the stack, 2 years isn't so optimistic
after all.

It's just that we started the cleanup procedure at the top of the stack,
and you're affected by that already.
