Fedpkg import fails

2020-08-17 Thread Vijayan, Arunprabhu
Hi,

I find when I try fedpkg scratch build or import, it is very slow & I'm not
able to upload the package.

fedpkg build --scratch --target rawhide --srpm SRPMS/
fedpkg import /path/to/srpm/from/step/1a

[cid:image001.png@01D6754B.7AE98690]

I've been trying this for a week & no help yet. Anything wrong in my setup? I'm
using a hyper-V based machine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Arun

That `Applying :` with nothing after it is suspicious. I'm guessing
the patch isn't being specified correctly in the .spec file.

I spent a bit of time trying to get doxygen to not incorporate the
build dir into its hashes, but gave up and overrode %_vpath_builddir
instead.

Here's the commit:
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/zipios/c/37e97cc5aa53b53865852a888d7f6261dac49f96?branch=master

I did a scratch build and that worked:

Real build is occurring right now:

CMake change: -doc noarch package built differently on different architectures

2020-08-17 Thread Richard Shaw
Trying a new thread/subject as the problem was introduced by the cmake
change...

Original thread here:

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/TXJBSDMF7Z4G6C4LHQG3ARN3BFBZQCZZ/#FTMFOIGY6XXAXBNC3DNOPQ6ZPBSKMJGT

So I've been fighting this one for a few days and I'm about to give up, but
I really don't want to have one package that's different from all the rest
(i.e., disabling the automatic out of source builds.)

Initially there were two directories but playing around with doxygen
STRIP_FROM_PATH settings got it down to one:

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=49373300

49373300 build (rawhide, zipios-2.2.5.0-1.fc34.src.rpm): open (
buildvm-ppc64le-21.iad2.fedoraproject.org) -> FAILED: BuildError: The
following noarch package built differently on different architectures:
zipios-doc-2.2.5.0-1.fc34.noarch.rpm
rpmdiff output was:
removed
/usr/share/doc/zipios/html/dir_32504400af4b8c553a85c61a7ef01dea.html
added

I know it has been a while since you sent around this email, but does

I think not. anaconda just uses Python `os.chroot` for this:
https://github.com/rhinstaller/anaconda/blob/master/pyanaconda/core/util.py#L165
which I think does about the same as coreutils chroot.

Orphaned packages looking for new maintainers

OpenVPN 2.5 beta released

2020-08-17 Thread David Sommerseth

Hi,

Just wanting to raise awareness that the OpenVPN 2.5 Beta was released last
week. I have prepared a Fedora Copr repository for those wanting to test this
version.

OpenVPN 2.5 will drop EPEL-6 support; it goes EOL in November anyhow and will
require a more recent OpenSSL library than 1.0.1e.

The final OpenVPN 2.5 release will hit Rawhide and will be part of the next
Fedora release. I am pondering on adding an openvpn25 package for EPEL-7 and
EPEL-8, as this release does have some nice security enhancements. I will not
consider this for Fedora 31/32.

If you have a possibility to test OpenVPN 2.5, or if you want to review the
spec file and packaging - we can ensure this will be a more painless upgrade
than the 2.4 upgrade was. Packaging/.spec file issues can be taken here on
this mailing list; otherwise OpenVPN 2.5 specific issues can be discussed on
the OpenVPN developers mailing list [1] or the upstream Trac ticketing system
[2].

[HOWTO] Keep using Rawhide after branching

2020-08-17 Thread Vít Ondruch
Just as a reminder to all Rawhide users, this is the easiest way to keep
using Rawhide after branching:

~~~
$ sudo dnf update fedora-gpg-keys
$ sudo dnf update fedora-repos --release 34
~~~

Unfortunately, there has been no progress on [1] during past months.

That is odd, the setting should really be instant apply. Could you
report an upstream bug against gnome-settings-daemon if you are able to
reproduce it?

Though, maybe this was just the confusion that the key needs to be
explicitly removed?

The program changing the configuration needs to ensure there are no
collisions. If you have collisions, then it is currently undefined
which action is executed.

So, the user can do that, but it is somewhat dangerous unfortunately.

Yeah, I see how it might be unexpected, but I think the expectation to
have a clean configuration is reasonable.

Possible, yes. I don't really consider it to be "supported" though.
Still better than simply hard-coding them in C :)

Note that you can also change the power button action in gnome-control-
center, power, "Suspend & Power Button", "Power Button Action".

`import` is the best way how to upload sources + add/remove patches from
dist-git. I would suggest everybody to `import` instead of
`new-sources`/`upload`.

We have since identified the root cause of this problem:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1869030

If you're doing local mock builds, you can work around the problem by
running mock with "--isolation=simple".

For COPR builds, it's not that simple (no pun intended), but I built
un-broken glibc in a COPR that you can add for rawhide x86_64 builds:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/decathorpe/unbroken-glibc-2.33/
Just adding "copr://decathorpe/unbroken-glibc-2.33" as an external
repo should fix things for COPR builds until glibc is fixed in rawhide
(or until systemd is patched on all fedora releases and on COPR
servers etc.)
