License change for poezio

2022-04-23 Thread Casper
Hi,

Poezio's upstream has changed the license of poezio in the 0.14
version, from zlib to GPLv3+.

The change in the package is under the commit:

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/poezio/c/7bf30c4268f743389e523d91e9d42fe44ad9f65d?branch=rawhide

The package update (F36) is:

  https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2022-16b9ac5491

License change: python-starlette is now “BSD and MIT”

2022-04-23 Thread Ben Beasley
In release 0.19.1, python-starlette adds one Python module under the MIT
license (bundling a subset of python-pep562, which I have handled
according to the relevant guidelines).

The License field therefore changes from “BSD” to “BSD and MIT”.

If the update includes ABI or even API breaks that may require rebuilding
other packages, possibly even with patches, then it is NOT a "single build
update".

I think Mattia wanted to say that this should not be a single-build
update at all, given that it breaks API and probably requires changes
in dependent packages. Hence, the update + all required adaptations
should only be pushed together, as a single update.

You need to create a package for each of the dependencies first and
you need to submit them first for review. The Source method you're
trying to use won't work.

You can use `go2rpm -r $name` to create the specs for each of the
packages easily and adapt in case of need.

As you're using copr, create a package for each dependency and you
should be able to build the final package once everything is ready.

Kind regards,
Mikel

Thanks Igor, that could be also an option, especially for the
independent 3rd party extensions. Good to know.

However, in my case all the three packages have the same (upstream)
author and the same packager, so forward hint in sstp-client is not a
problem and seems more natural.

Sadly, I wasn't able to find it before in the documentation. I will have

"Conditional recommends" for packages

2022-04-23 Thread Marcin Zajączkowski
Hi. My package sstp-client (a SSTP VPN client) can be used on it's own,
but usually it is recommended to have also the NetworkManager-sstp
plugin. "Recommends" seems to be a good idea here as NM is usually
available by default.

However, there is also NetworkManager-sstp-gnome which adds an applet
for Gnome Shell. I'm reluctant to use "Recommends" here, as it would
propose an user to install the whole GNOME ecosystem (assuming LXQT or
something else it already used instead).

Is there a way to use "conditional recommends" to only propose
NetworkManager-sstp-gnome (e.g. when NetworkManager-sstp itself is
installed) if gnome-shell is already installed?

Help with packaging golang binary: resolving dependencies

2022-04-23 Thread Mark E. Fuller

Hi all,

I'm looking to submit a first golang package for review, but I'm running
into some confusion as to whether there's a way to download/import all
the linked source dependencies without having to package all of those
projects, too.

To make this more concrete:

My spec is at
https://download.copr.fedorainfracloud.org/results/fuller/test-builds/fedora-rawhide-x86_64/04306641-golang-github-task/task.spec

There are three other sources on which it depends, none of which are
already packaged for Fedora, so the build log
(https://download.copr.fedorainfracloud.org/results/fuller/test-builds/fedora-rawhide-x86_64/04306641-golang-github-task/builder-live.log.gz)
shows:

No matching package to install: 'golang(github.com/go-task/slim-sprig)'
No matching package to install: 'golang(github.com/mattn/go-zglob)'
No matching package to install: 'golang(github.com/radovskyb/watcher)'
Not all dependencies satisfied
Error: Some packages could not be found.

Copr build error: Build failed

I tried also explicitly adding the other repos as sources, but this
didn't seem to fix the problem either, i.e.:

...
Source0:%{gosource}
Source1:https://github.com/go-task/slim-sprig/archive/master.tar.gz
Source2:
https://github.com/radovskyb/watcher/archive/refs/tags/v1.0.7.tar.gz

Source3:https://github.com/mattn/go-zglob/archive/master.tar.gz
...

Any help is very appreciated,

Regards,

Then maybe the easy thing to do is prevent completing Description before a

I think this is reasonable. gettext is directly required by a
not-too-large number of packages, but grub2-tools is one of them. If
its dependency is reduced from ~5 MB to ~0.8 MB, we'll get this saving
on most normal installations.

I'd say go for it, make sure that both packages are installed on upgrades (*),
and publicize the change to all affected packagers.

(*) I.e. both packages after the split should have Obsoletes on the old
package with a version before the split.

Re: grub2 BIOS booting iso and code

2022-04-23 Thread Thomas Schmitt
Hi,

i uploaded a new GNU xorriso development tarball for the next experiment
with the Dell XPS 15 L502X of Dominik 'Rathann' Mierzejewski.

The program will not interfere with the libraries or the /usr/bin/xorriso
binary which gets installed by Fedora from the xorriso package.
There are no special hard dependencies.
But i assume that the Fedora xorriso gets built with these optional
dependencies:
- libreadline development package
- zlib development package
- libacl development package
None of them should be needed for the experiment.

Download:

  https://www.gnu.org/software/xorriso/xorriso-1.5.5.tar.gz

MD5:
  e622b2547202529fbee6c9186fe39c40
(This might change with future uploads of the xorriso-1.5.5 snapshot.
The next stable release will be 1.5.6.)

Build:

  cd /...some.../...playground.../...directory...
  tar xzf /...where_it_was_downloaded.../xorriso-1.5.5.tar.gz
  cd xorriso-1.5.5
  ./configure --prefix=/usr
  make

This will produce a binary named
  ./xorriso/xorriso

Installation is not necessary. Just execute the path that is given by
  ls $(pwd)/xorriso/xorriso

Check whether it is willing to run:

  /...path.../xorriso/xorriso -version

It should report:

GNU xorriso 1.5.5 : RockRidge filesystem manipulator, libburnia project.

  GNU xorriso 1.5.5

The "libjte" line will only appear if zlib development was present at
compile time. All reported libraries are part of the tarball and linked
statically.

Now for the partition layout with GRUB which comes nearest to the layout
that was produced with ISOLINUX (quite like the result of isoybrid --uefi).
Begin like with the last experiment:

  # Extract the EFI partition
  dd if=boot-grub2-f36.iso bs=512 skip=1313268 count=20288 of=test_efi.img

  # Extract the MBR code
  dd if=boot-grub2-f36.iso bs=1 count=446 of=test_mbr.img

  # Pad MBR up to 32768 bytes, so that it overwrites the loaded system area
  dd if=/dev/zero bs=1 count=32322 >>test_mbr.img

The xorriso run shall bring the ISO as near to the old layout as possible:

  xorriso=/...path.../xorriso/xorriso

  new_iso=test_oldlayout.iso

  # xorriso in its native mode does not truncate -outdev
  test -e "$new_iso" && rm "$new_iso"

  "$xorriso" \
-indev boot-grub2-f36.iso \
-outdev "$new_iso" \
-map test_efi.img /images/efiboot.img \
-as mkisofs \
  -part_like_isohybrid \

-no-emul-boot -isohybrid-gpt-basdat \
  -R -J \
-- \
-padding included \
-compliance no_emul_toc \
-stdio_sync off

Inspect the resulting boot equipment and partition layout:

  "$xorriso" -indev "$new_iso" -report_el_torito plain -report_system_area plain

This should report:

Please build it in a side-tag, so that affected package maintainers can
try to rebuild their packages there and the final update can be delayed
until you're sure to not break anything.
