That is just a symptom of a core issue with comps, that the applications in
non-desktop-environment groups are not conditional on the user's desktop
environment in any way.

This affects much more than just GNOME Disks and the admin-tools group.
Pretty much all comps groups except the KDE ones are filled with GNOME apps
as mandatory or default, and the KDE equivalents as optional if even listed
at all.

That is still a GTK application though. KDE Plasma users will want KDE
Partition Manager instead.

IMHO, we need a proper solution for the general comps issue rather than that
half-baked compromise that does not really improve the situation. KDE Plasma
users should get KDE applications by default everywhere.

[Test-Announce] 2022-10-10 @ 16:00 UTC - Fedora 37 Blocker Review Meeting

2022-10-08 Thread Adam Williamson
# F36 Blocker Review meeting
# Date: 2022-10-10
# Time: 16:00 UTC
# Location: #fedora-blocker-review on irc.libera.chat

Hi folks! We have 6 proposed Final blockers and 2 proposed Final
freeze exceptions to review, so let's have a review meeting.

If you have time this weekend, you can take a look at the proposed or
accepted blockers before the meeting - the full lists can be found
here: https://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/ .

Remember, you can also now vote on bugs outside of review meetings! If
you look at the bug list in the blockerbugs app, you'll see links
labeled "Vote!" next to all proposed blockers and freeze exceptions.
Those links take you to tickets where you can vote.
https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/blocker-review has instructions on how
exactly you do it. We usually go through the tickets shortly before the
meeting and apply any clear votes, so the meeting will just cover bugs
where there wasn't a clear outcome in the ticket voting yet. **THIS
MEANS IF YOU VOTE NOW, THE MEETING WILL BE SHORTER!**

We'll be evaluating these bugs to see if they violate any of the
Release Criteria and warrant the blocking of a release if they're not
fixed. Information on the release criteria for F36 can be found on the
wiki [0].

For more information about the Blocker and Freeze exception process,
check out these links:
 - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:SOP_freeze_exception_bug_process

And for those of you who are curious how a Blocker Review Meeting
works - or how it's supposed to go and you want to run one - check out
the SOP on the wiki:

Have a good weekend and see you on Monday!

Hi folks! I'm proposing we cancel the QA meeting on Monday. I don't
have anything much for the agenda again. There will be a blocker review
meeting, though.

If you're aware of anything it would be useful to discuss this week,
please do reply to this mail and we can run the meeting.

Thanks folks!

Strange indeed. git pull did nothing and the error was still present. Out
of desperation I did a rm -rf usd and re-checked out the repo and now it's
working...

Re: usd rebuild with autorpmspec problem

2022-10-08 Thread Ben Beasley
I don’t quite understand why this is happening, or why the problem is
showing up now even though the package built successfully before your
commit. I tried writing the rpmautospec-generated changelog into a
“changelog” file so that rpmautospec doesn’t have to inspect older
commits, and that seemed to lead to a successful scratch-build.

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/usd/pull-request/5

Scratch build submitted using the side tag and before opening the PR:

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=92802281

But that's another thread...

I just performed a:

$ git commit --allow-empty -m "Rebuild for OpenImageIO 2.4.4.2."
$ git push

On usd but when I tried to do the build I got this:

$ fedpkg build --target=f38-build-side-59007
Could not execute build: 'object not found - no match for id
(85b3915a4ef185329c02aaa00e3a8dcab4c24c2f)'

Which points to two commits ago (3 including mine).

What's up with that? Looking at git log I see:

commit 03dcb7d9888a50fd7baa47df78285c4be65865d1 (HEAD -> rawhide,
origin/rawhide, origin/HEAD)

Author: Richard Shaw
Date:   Fri Oct 7 09:38:47 2022 -0500

    Rebuild for OpenImageIO 2.4.4.2.

commit 7aaecf36a8174f9763c13dddf567a5f55d64827a (grafted)
Author: Benjamin A. Beasley
Date:   Wed Aug 3 12:53:52 2022 -0400

Revert "Update to 22.08 (.so version bump); close RHBZ#2110024"

    This reverts commit 85b3915a4ef185329c02aaa00e3a8dcab4c24c2f and
adjusts

the %%autorelease invocation to maintain a monotonic release number.

The commit is good, but Blender is not ready. See discussion in
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/usd/pull-request/3.

So perhaps the conversion to autorpmspec is incomplete?

Thanks,
Richard

Heads-up: llhttp 8.0.0 coming to Rawhide

2022-10-08 Thread Ben Beasley
In one week (2022-10-15), or slightly later, I plan to update the llhttp
package in Rawhide from 6.0.10 to 8.0.0. This includes some breaking
API/ABI changes and a .so version bump. There is one dependent package,
python-aiohttp, which I will rebuild with llhttp in a side tag using my
python-packagers-sig membership. I have already verified compatibility
in COPR.

What Is a Water Pump Car

Your car's water pump takes water from the radiator and moves it through the
motor back to the radiator, where the cycle begins again. It makes sure your
motor remains at a constant temperature, no matter the weather.
