STDIN, and performs two optimisations to attempt to reduce the length of the
prefix list, which can often be useful in context of compressing firewall rules
or BGP prefix-list filters.

Security fix for CVE-2023-38497

[EPEL-devel] Proposed incompatible security update for llhttp in EPEL9

2023-08-08 Thread Ben Beasley
This email proposes upgrading the llhttp package in EPEL9 from 6.0.10 to
8.1.1, which would break the ABI and bump the SONAME version, under the
EPEL Incompatible Upgrades Policy[1].

The llhttp package is a C library (transpiled from TypeScript) that
provides the low-level HTTP support for NodeJS and for python-aiohttp.
Currently, only python-aiohttp depends on the llhttp package in EPEL9.

Versions of llhttp prior to 8.1.1 are affected by CVE-2023-30589[2], an
HTTP request smuggling vulnerability rated 7.7 HIGH in CVSS v3 and rated
Moderate by Red Hat. The GitHub advisory for llhttp is
GHSA-cggh-pq45-6h9x[3]; the advisory for python-aiohttp is
GHSA-45c4-8wx5-qw6w[4]. Upstream for python-aiohttp fixed this by
updating llhttp (which they bundle, but we unbundle) in release 3.8.5.

I am not comfortable attempting to backport the fix to an older release
of llhttp. My preferred solution would be to update llhttp to 8.1.1[5]
and (in the same side tag) update python-aiohttp to 3.8.5[6]. The ABI
break in llhttp would only affect python-aiohttp; the python-aiohttp
update itself is compatible (by upstream intent, and verified in
COPR[7]); and a number of packages that depend on python-aiohttp would
benefit from the fix.

If this exception request is not approved, my fallback plan is to
propose rebuilding python-aiohttp in EPEL9 with AIOHTTP_NO_EXTENSIONS=1,
which would convert it to a pure-Python package. This is a documented
mitigation, but comes with potentially serious performance regressions,
again affecting a number of dependent packages. The llhttp package would
become a leaf package and would remain unpatched.

The same incompatible update was approved by FESCo for Fedora 37[8].

The purpose of this email is to document and explain the proposed
update, to begin the minimum one-week discussion period mandated by the
EPEL Incompatible Upgrades Policy, and to request that the update be
added to the agenda for an upcoming EPEL meeting.

Disabling rawhide builds during branching - happening in 2hrs

2023-08-08 Thread Tomas Hrcka
Hi All,

Fedora Linux 39 is going to be branched in the upcoming hours as per
the previous discussion[1] we are going to disable new koji builds for
the duration of this event.

All builds that will be running at that time for the rawhide will be
canceled and can be resubmitted by maintainers after the branching.

All rawhide updates that are in a pending state for rawhide will be unpushed.

Once Fedora Linux 39 is branched we will reenable builds in koji with
notification to this list.

[Idea] Re: Disabling rawhide builds during branching

2023-08-08 Thread Sérgio Basto
Hi,

as idea , I don't know if anybody already thought it, anyway, to
disable builds on rawhide we can use koji block-pkg and koji unblock-
pkg to enable it

for example :

koji list-tagged f39 , save this list

for each package on list
koji block-pkg f39 $package

after mass branch done :

for each package on list
koji unblock-pkg f39 $package

Best regards,

Re: Disabling rawhide builds during branching

2023-08-08 Thread Tomas Hrcka
Hi, no we did not start the branching process yet,
there are some issues on rawhide that need resolving.

Once the issues are resolved and branching is good to go,
I will send a new announcement about disabling rawhide builds.

Is not happening , is mass branch delayed ?

By mistake, I just built libfreenect-0.7.0-4.fc39
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=104533359

and I also would like build player package , may I ?

rpmbuild 7z source archive extraction fails due to rpm regression

2023-08-08 Thread Dominik 'Rathann' Mierzejewski
Hi!
In case you're wondering why rpmbuild can't build your package if it has
a .7z tarball in it anymore, it's a regression since rpm switched to
cmake as build system and the new build script sets the 7z extractor
binary to /usr/bin/7zip instead of /usr/bin/7za like the autotools one
did. More details in the bug report below:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2229984

Regards,
Dominik

That sounds great, welcome to Fedora! On bit of advice from me would
be to pick packages that you actually use or depend on instead of just
any random orphaned package.

Hi,
would it be possible to somehow detect the "More Information" button on
the screen and click it before calling the test failed, which will open
a dialog with an error returned by the PackageKit (in this case), thus
giving a clue what failed, please?
Bye,
Milan

It is through now, in the end I did a hack to make most tests pass
(except the live image build tests, that would've been more or less
impossible), then we temporarily disabled gating to get it through (I
won't go into the details why that was necessary). It does seem like we
might have issues, though:
https://openqa.fedoraproject.org/tests/2053819#step/desktop_update_graphical/33
I'm not sure what's causing that, but it doesn't look good.

For now I'm rebuilding the openQA base images on the new compose and
going to bed, will see how things look in the morning.

This is triggered by upgrading rpm from 4.18.91-8.fc39 to 4.18.92-1.fc39. The
new rpm made rpmversion macro a builtin and spec files cannot redefine it any
longer.
