You are the main admin of the package - you have full capabilities for Fedora

Please branch and build perl-XML-RSS in epel9.

If you do not wish to maintain perl-XML-RSS in epel9,
or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner,
the EPEL Packagers SIG would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package;
please add the epel-packagers-sig group through
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/perl-XML-RSS/addgroup
and grant it commit access, or collaborator access on epel* branches.

I would also be happy to be a co-maintainer (FAS: orion).

I can be the primary contact for EPEL (FAS: orion).

It currently builds and installs on EPEL9

Local network enabled applications

2023-10-12 Thread Benson Muite
Am reviewing Qnearbyshare:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2241003
It uses a protocol similar to:
https://github.com/grishka/NearDrop/blob/master/PROTOCOL.md
For sending a file, a temporary server is initiated which is accessible
on the local network. To receive files, the service temporarily scans
for available servers on the local network and then allows exchange
after entering a shared secret. Dbus and Avahi are used to provide local
network services. Does such a service need a FESCO exception?

Well, AFAICS there are four awaiting announcement, but those wouldn't
require any FESCo action immediately. There are only two that have been
announced and not yet sent to FESCo -
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Drop_Sshd_Socket and
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/KDE_Plasma_6 - and I believe we
(Aoife and I) were kinda sitting on those for Reasons: the Plasma 6 one
is a big one that still had active discussion ongoing till fairly
recently, and it seems reasonably likely that the sshd socket one won't
be needed once
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/29159#issuecomment-1714205320
lands in Fedora, so we were kind of intentionally leaving it in limbo,
I think.

Just FTR, this is how the generators would be used in practice:

For your convenience, full ruby.spec file is available here:

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/ruby/blob/rawhide/f/ruby.spec

Please note that this is the default rubygems.attr file we are
distributing with Ruby (actually via rubygems-devel package):

~~~
%__rubygems_provides    %{_rpmconfigdir}/rubygems.prov
%__rubygems_conflicts    %{_rpmconfigdir}/rubygems.con
~~~

As you can see, we would not be able to use the generator even if it was
somehow available because it need Ruby for its execution. But Ruby is
not available for Ruby build, therefore we could not benefit from it
without changing the macros.

Dne 06. 10. 23 v 18:06 Vít Ondruch napsal(a):
I am still playing with idea of executing RPM dependency generators on
the .spec file which ships them. I have created RPM RFE ticket quite a
while ago here:

https://github.com/rpm-software-management/rpm/issues/782

So for no luck with having this implemented.

However, I think there is reasonable way. It would be enough to have
some generic attr file around. I have create small test package
exploring this idea and you can find it in my Copr repo:

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/vondruch/rpm-local-generator/

https://copr-dist-git.fedorainfracloud.org/cgit/vondruch/rpm-local-generator/rpm-local-generator-support.git/tree/rpm-local-generator-support.spec

On the same place, you can also find package leveraging this concept:

https://copr-dist-git.fedorainfracloud.org/cgit/vondruch/rpm-local-generator/rpm-local-generator-test.git/tree/rpm-local-generator-test.spec

Would somebody else benefit from this idea/package or can somebody
spot some issue with it? Thx for feedback.

There's also a few tickets with PENDING_ANNOUNCEMENT label.
And possibly some more that should get that label. I think we should
process and announce them here even if we don't have a meeting.

[EPEL-devel] retiring klee in EPEL 9

2023-10-12 Thread Carl George
I am retiring the klee package in EPEL 9. In accordance with the
retirement policy [0], I proposed this retirement two weeks ago on the
epel-devel mailing list [1]. This software is not compatible with
LLVM 15 or newer [2][3][4]. RHEL 9 regularly updates LLVM, is already
defaulting to LLVM 15 in 9.2, and is expected to update to LLVM 16 in
9.3. Since klee cannot be rebuilt to work with the newer LLVM
versions, we must retire it. The package was already retired from
Fedora earlier this year [5]. The Fedora maintainer also orphaned the
package, resulting in there being no maintainers for the EPEL 9
package. I am stepping in to retire the package as a proven packager.

2023-10-12 Thread Pavol Zacik
Hello all,

I have recently joined Red Hat as a software engineer, where I will
hopefully get to contribute to multiple Fedora packages such as TuneD.
Previously, I've made some contributions e.g., to the Botan C++
cryptography library.

Cheers,

Beware that there are some change proposals that are either pending
announcement / discussion / creation of fesco tickets. That also might be
the reason why our Ticket queue looks kind of empty.

[EPEL-devel] Retirement of package `godot` in EPEL7

2023-10-12 Thread Rémi Verschelde
Hi,

I'm the maintainer of the `godot` [0] package in Fedora and EPEL7 (as well as
the upstream maintainer).
I'm following the documented procedure [1] to retire this package.

The EPEL7 package has been lagging behind for a while and I don't have time to
maintain it (and haven't actively maintained it for years already).

There's a number of security issues [2,3,4,5] reported against it to due
several outdated vendored dependencies which were not present or compatible in
EPEL7 at the time.

The EPEL7 package currently tracks Godot 3.1.2 released in 2019. The latest
upstream release is 4.1.2 (from last month) and will find its way to Fedora,
but I'm not interested in the effort of porting it to EPEL7.

Given how outdated the version is, and that Godot is a game development
application which needs to stay fairly up to date for compatibility with ever
changing target platforms, I expect that nobody is actually using it from EPEL7
and adding it there was a mistake when I first packaged Godot for Fedora.

If there are any users of this package, it's easy to download any Godot version
from the Godot website, where the Linux binaries are self-contained and
portable and should run fine on any EPEL7 system.

Best regards,

Rémi Verschelde / Akien
Godot Engine Project Maintainer

Thanks for taking care of this, but just an FYI, the libreoffice-TexMaths
and openoffice.org-diafilter packages need the updated libreoffice before
they can be built, otherwise the rebuild isn't useful (and actually in this
case, since the build for libreoffice-TexMaths ran before libreoffice is in
the build root, it couldn't succeed since the current libreoffice package
is uninstallable).

[Bug 2243614] New: perl-Class-Date-1.1.17-17.fc40 FTBFS: t/50_timezone.t fails without tzdata package

2023-10-12 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2243614

Bug ID: 2243614
   Summary: perl-Class-Date-1.1.17-17.fc40 FTBFS: t/50_timezone.t
fails without tzdata package
   Product: Fedora
   Version: 39
   URL: https://koschei.fedoraproject.org/package/perl-Class-D
ate?collection=f40
Status: NEW
 Component: perl-Class-Date
  Assignee: oss...@gmail.com
  Reporter: ppi...@redhat.com
QA Contact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: oss...@gmail.com, perl-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org
Blocks: 2168842 (F39FTBFS), 2231791 (F40FTBFS,RAWHIDEFTBFS)
  Target Milestone: ---
Classification: Fedora

perl-Class-Date-1.1.17-17.fc40 fails to build in Fedora 40 because a test
fails:

# Env::C version 0.15 loaded
#   Failed test 'tzdst'
#   at t/50_timezone.t line 18.
#  got: 'CET'
# expected: 'CEST'
#   Failed test 'epoch'
#   at t/50_timezone.t line 19.
#  got: '1020470462'
# expected: '1020463262'
#   Failed test 'date2'

#  got: '2002-05-04 00:01:02'
# expected: '2002-05-03 22:01:02'
#   Failed test 'epoch'
#   at t/50_timezone.t line 29.
#  got: '1020470462'
# expected: '1020463262'
# Looks like you failed 2 tests of 4.
#   Failed test 'to GMT'
#   at t/50_timezone.t line 30.
# Looks like you failed 3 tests of 8.
t/50_timezone.t .
Dubious, test returned 3 (wstat 768, 0x300)
Failed 3/8 subtests

This is triggered by a removal of tzdata from a minimal build root.
The same problem exists in Fedora 39.
