Self Introduction: BurningPho3nix/Eddi-Jay Ohlms

2023-10-29 Thread BurningPho3nix

Greetings,

I am Eddi-Jay Ohlms alias BurningPho3nix.

I saw the article about how to join the package maintainers, because I
have interest in that.

I am a young developer from Germany and started my work with
POSIX-scripting and then moved on to C.

I am on Fedora (mostly KDE) for a year now,

and my interest in programming started around the time I started using
Fedora.

setup-tool (my project) is the only project that I am involved in right now,

because I don't have too much time right now due to work taking up a lot
of time.

Here is the link to my review request:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2246872

Best regards,

Eddi-Jay Ohlms/BurningPho3nix

PS: I sent this message from my personal email, because the fedora email
didn't work for whatever reason.

Heads-up: python-socketio 5.10.0 coming to Rawhide

2023-10-29 Thread Ben Beasley
In one week, 2023-11-05, or slightly later, I plan to update
python-socketio to 5.10.0 in Rawhide[1]. This release contains one
documented breaking API change (“async versions of enter_room and
leave_room should be coroutines”), but all dependent packages still
build from source, and I don’t expect that any changes to dependent
packages will be required.

[EPEL-devel] Upgrade of mlpack in epel-7

2023-10-29 Thread Benson Muite
Would like to upgrade mlpack from 3.4.2 to 4.2.1
Version 3 is no longer maintained, and there do not seem to be
dependencies on mlpack, at least in Fedora. This is prompted by
CVE-2021-28021, CVE-2021-42715, CVE-2021-42716, and CVE-2022-28041

Heads-up: usd 23.11 coming to Rawhide

2023-10-29 Thread Ben Beasley
In one week, 2023-11-05, or slightly later, I plan to update usd to
23.11 in Rawhide[1]. This includes ABI changes and a SONAME version
bump. There are no documented breaking API changes[2].

The sole dependent package is blender. I verified compatibility in a
local mock build, and I will rebuild it in a side tag as a co-maintainer.

[Test-Announce] 2023-10-30 @ 16:00 UTC - Fedora 39 Blocker Review Meeting

2023-10-29 Thread Adam Williamson
# F39 Blocker Review meeting
# Date: 2023-10-30
# Time: 16:00 UTC
# Location: #fedora-blocker-review on irc.libera.chat (*NOT* Matrix)

Hi folks! Currently there are two proposed Final freeze exception
issues to review, so let's have a meeting on Monday (where we can also
check on the state of accepted blockers).

The meeting will on IRC only due to the ongoing lack of a Matrix <->
IRC bridge and a meeting bot on the Matrix side. If you no longer have
an IRC setup you can join via webIRC: https://web.libera.chat/ , enter
a nickname and put #fedora-blocker-review in the Channel box.

If you have time today, you can take a look at the proposed or
accepted blockers before the meeting - the full lists can be found
here: https://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/ .

Remember, you can also now vote on bugs outside of review meetings! If
you look at the bug list in the blockerbugs app, you'll see links
labeled "Vote!" next to all proposed blockers and freeze exceptions.
Those links take you to tickets where you can vote.
https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/blocker-review has instructions on how
exactly you do it. We usually go through the tickets shortly before the
meeting and apply any clear votes, so the meeting will just cover bugs
where there wasn't a clear outcome in the ticket voting yet. **THIS
MEANS IF YOU VOTE NOW, THE MEETING WILL BE SHORTER!**

We'll be evaluating these bugs to see if they violate any of the
Release Criteria and warrant the blocking of a release if they're not
fixed. Information on the release criteria for F39 can be found on the
wiki [0].

For more information about the Blocker and Freeze exception process,
check out these links:
 - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:SOP_freeze_exception_bug_process

And for those of you who are curious how a Blocker Review Meeting
works - or how it's supposed to go and you want to run one - check out
the SOP on the wiki:

Have a good day and see you tomorrow!
