Hi,

Could you please exclude the .NET packages (dotnet6.0, dotnet7.0,
dotnet8.0)? dotnet8.0 shouldn't need a fix (and it doesn't appear in your
list). dotnet7.0 is already EOL/orphaned/retired. dotnet6.0 will go
through the same EOL/orphan/retiring process later this year. There's
little point changing it now.

Thanks!

%patch -P is already documented in the 1997 First Edition of Maximum RPM.
Here is the link in the 2000 online edition:

feedback about adding obsoletes/provides

2024-05-07 Thread Germano Massullo

A long time ago upstream keepassxc obsoleted upstream keepassx.
I now added obsoletes/provides [1] to the former spec file, following
Fedora packaging guidelines [2] and I would like to ask for your
feedback about the correctness of the commit.

Thank you

PWG+OpenPrinting meetup 2024

2024-05-07 Thread Zdenek Dohnal

Hi all,

I've joined the mentioned meetup to see what are the changes from the
last year and proposal what to do in the future.

Highlights:

- CUPS 2.5 on the way, only requirement which is left if OAuth2 support,
targeting autumn this year,

- one of GSOC 2024 projects is to implement support and distribute
OpenPrinting projects as OCI containers,

- one of GSOC 2024 projects is to update system-config-printer to work
with CUPS 3.x series, where libcups is available as beta.

The detailed notes from the talks are attached.

Have a nice day,

Zdenek

[Bug 1716324] Module::Build lists the object files after the linker flags, causing underlinking with -Wl,--as-needed

2024-05-07 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1716324

This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 38 is nearing its end of life.
Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 38 on
2024-05-21.
It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer
maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with
a
'version' of '38'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version'
to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden.
Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora Linux 38 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version
prior to this bug being closed.

I'd suggest submitting them for review. Since they are using a different
upstream and the buildsystem and other things have changed anyhow, a
review is probibly a good idea. Then, as part of that you can find a
sponsor...

Yes. I don't think the system will allow you to change emails for a
@redhat.com account.

Just making the new account with the same email as your fas account (or
your bugzilla account field setting) should do the trick.

Hello!

I see now that you have withdrawn the two Rust package reviews.

Ownership request for retired packages libtsm and kmscon

2024-05-07 Thread José Relvas via devel
Hey folks,

`libtsm` was retired because it was orphaned. `kmscon` was retired because it
relied on this package.

I'm currently not in the "packagers" group, but I'm interested in taking
ownership of these packages and re-adding them to Fedora if I get sponsored.

Upstream has ceased development for both `libtsm` and `kmscon`, however,
they've been forked and continue to be well maintained:

- `libtsm`: https://github.com/Aetf/libtsm
- `kmscon`: https://github.com/Aetf/kmscon

Among other improvements, the build system has been modernized (meson instead
of GNU autotools!) and dependencies have been cleaned up. Packaging these forks
should be significantly easier compared to the abandoned upstream.

I've done some testing locally and ran into no major issues, so I believe I'm
capable of handling packaging. I've experimented with sending a few PRs to
Fedora packages and I feel comfortable with RPM packaging now.

Please let me know if this is possible :)

Thanks,
José Relvas
