Fedora 37: kernel: general protection fault when use NFS server

2023-02-24 Thread Dario Lesca
There is some work around or solution for this kernel's bug?

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2150630#c6

All 6.1.x kernel crash my nfs server if I use it from a Debian (OSMC)
client.

Many thanks

Fedora 32: samba 4.12.2: Problem with access from win10b to win10a via remote desktop

2020-05-15 Thread Dario Lesca
I have a test environment for test samba AD MIT kerberos out of the box

I have a AD-DC samba on Fedora 32 (addc1), a Centos 8 member server
(centos8) and two PC windows 10 (win10a and win10b), fedora.loc is the
AD domain name

All work fine except access from windows to windows with remote
desktop. I work with administra...@fedora.loc and when I try to accessI get a

I have only save lsblk layout

NOTE: VG and all partition are pre existent, /home is the only not
formatting LV, other LV I have must formatting in order to install

Now the notebook is installed, but if it's important I can reinstall it

Yes, this is what I intend to do and it is how Anaconda has always
behaved with custom partition

Then this is a bug.
If I want single encryption I do not enable PV/VG encryption.
If I want encrypt PV/VG it's not necessary encrypt LV FS, Anaconda has
always behaved this way

Fedora 32: setup with encrypted LVM

2020-03-22 Thread Dario Lesca
I have try to install a Fedora 32 Beta on a existent previous Fedora 31
system using an encrypted LVM

Something is wrong

I have not format the /home LV volume and format only the other swap, /
and /var old LV volume.

The setup keeps the original Encrypted LVM partition but encrypt also
the swap, / and /var LV device and make the FS on the encrypted LV
device into the VG partition already encrypted.

This is the post install situation.

TYPE="swap"
I do not want this situation, I want only the VG device encrypted and
the filesystem created on LV device

In this case, the way to setup a Fedora 32 system on my new Dell G5-15
notebook (previous version do not work on this NB) is setup a Fedora 31
in basic graphic mode then upgrade it to Fedora 32.

It's this behavior a new feature or it's a bug of Anaconda on Fedora
32 ?

Many thanks for some suggest.

Thank Alexander, I will fill a bug on samba bugzilla.
Can I share the information you wrote here? (I thin yes)

The only way to insert a new host into DNS is use the script for DHCP
released on samba site.

Ok, it's a generic samba problem.
It's right if I fill a bug on samba bugzilla?

Ok, thanks, but what kind of rule and where I must add in named.conf?
In options session or zone session?

Note that there is not a zone called "fedora.loc" in my named.conf, but
only a include "/var/lib/samba/bind-dns/named.conf", witch contain.

dlz "AD DNS Zone" {
 database "dlopen /usr/lib64/samba/bind9/dlz_bind9_11.so";

Samba 4.12.0 on Fedora32: bind DNS say "named: client @...: update 'fedora.loc/IN' denied"

2020-03-08 Thread Dario Lesca
Hi, I have post this request on samba ml:

https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2020-March/228791.html

someone here have some suggest to resolve this issue?

I'm looking for the best way to register into DNS bind the windows
clients joined to domain into DNS zone

In a test environment, when the client is joined to domain, the
associated record A it's not added into DNS zone, and after few minutes
or if I run on Windows "ipconfig/updatedns" I get this error:

mar 05 14:45:43 addc1.fedora.loc dhcpd[773]: DHCPREQUEST for 192.168.122.102
from 52:54:00:7e:c7:bb (win10b) via ens3

192.168.122.102#56448: update 'fedora.loc/IN' denied

Another method is use the samba team proposal script run from dhcp.

But I think this operation should be execute by samba, the zone DNS
(bind_dlz) in which these records are to be recorded is managed
directly by samba

Someone can help me?

Thanks

There are a list of this missing, failings or simply testing
parts that I can check and report on bugzilla?

For now, the only problem I know on my little network is the w2w now
solved.

In my test environment also the update f-31->f-32rawhide, aka samba
4.11.6 -> samba-4.12rc2 it worked well without problem.
Let me know and I will try to verify.

After last MIT Kerberos update, another big problem with samba is gone

Perhaps the time has come to remove "experimental" from the use of
samba + MIT

Or there are yet some other serious reasons not to do it?

Then why do not use your samba.spec for build official samba package at
least on Fedora?

It already contain the MIT or Heimdal Kerberos flag:

%global with_system_mit_krb5 0

Is sufficient set it to '1' for default packaging and who wants to use
heimdal can rebuild it setting this flag to '0' via line command

This is another way to resolve this issue

Thank Franta, this is exactly also my opinion, and me too thank to
Kadel-Garcia for his work.

Waiting for MIT kerberos to become stable and supported from samba
team, a simple solution is insert into official samba.spec, a flag for
easily rebuild it with heimdal kerberos, without substitute or modify
the .spec file.

Something like this:

$ rpmbuild --rebuild --with heimdal samba-.src.rpm

Can the Fedora samba maintainers do that?

Thank

Please, IMHO, resolve in some way the Samba MIT kerberos problem.

2019-11-04 Thread Dario Lesca
Too many people (like also me) try to use samba-dc on fedora for deploy
a production AD DC controller, without know that MIT kerberos is
experimental and some useful things cannot work (es. win to win
access).

An recent last example:

There is many approach for resolve this issue:

a) Stop use MIT kerberos and rebuild samba with Heimdal Kerberos.
b) Produce a samba alternative package version (like, for example,
firefox-x11) build it with Heimdal Kerberos (es samba-hk-*)
c) Stop enable DC on Fedora, like RH/Centos do.
d) Notify users at the end of the installation that Fedora Samba DC is
experimental.
e) Solve the problems that make MIT kerberos experimental and put us in
a position to ask for help on the samba team.
f) ... some other proposal ?

What is the best approach chosen by Fedora ?

Many thanks

This is also my problem: "win to win access deny" (after a

Then the problem is not caused by classicupdate, also create a new DC,

All very interesting

I have read all our comment and suggest, but now I'm a bit confused.

What should I have to do now?

I'm interested in helping you to find out what is the
problem "win to win access not work"

What is the next step?

Wait for samba 4.11 (can resolve my problem)?

Debug my problem and fill a bug (on samba or redhat)?

What kind of debug I must do an produce?

Samba DC MIT Kerberos have a Future?

FreeIPA can become a AD-DC server (seem only to join to a MS-AD, or I'm
wrong)?

Is my problem depending from a "samba NT to AD classicupdate" or would I get
the same problem even if I created a new domain?

Let me know, and if this can help to improve samba AD-DC-MIT, I can
spend a little of my time preparing test environments and testing some
scenarios

Thanks to all

Thank Robert for reply.

Then why don't release samba compiled with Heimdal kerberos?

Just change a flag in build time, and all can use it into a production
environment.

If someone want test MIT version re-change the flag and rebuild it by
himself .. or release also a samba suite with a specific name (es.
samba-mit-...).

Samba DC is a useful solution in soma case, It is an inconvenience that
we must switch to another distro o use a third part repos because this
suite into Fedora/RHEL/Centos is a experimental version

Thanks

Fedora Samba DC for what purpose it is released in Fedora ?

2019-09-02 Thread Dario Lesca
In Fedora Server there is a suit of package named samba and samba-dc*

These package, with some other, are useful to make Fedora an Active
Directory Domain Controller.

I have decide tu use it into a little lan and convert old samba NT 4
Style into AD-DC (classicupdate).

After few minutes almost everything work well, except for a thing ...
all windows PC cannot access to others windows PC.

I have ask on Samba ML some suggest, but in essence this was the
answer: "...Using MIT with a Samba AD DC is still experimental, you
should not run it in production..."
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2019-September/225714.html

Then My questions now are:

a) For what purpose it's released Fedora Samba MIT-KERBEROS DC?
b) Someone can help me to debug my issue?

Many thanks

Driver for USB 3.0 Docking Station (displaylink?)

2019-01-22 Thread Dario Lesca
Hi, I would like to try to use un my Asus notebook with Fedora 29 this
ASUS USB3.0 HZ-3 Docking Station
https://www.asus.com/it/Laptops-Accessories/ASUS_USB30_HZ3_Docking_Station/

For Linux I have found this driver:
https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/

But "Ubuntu" is not a S.O, it's a Distro! ... a S.O. like other
mentioned in this page is: "Linux"! ... not "Ubuntu"

Ubuntu is Linux, Linux is not Ubuntu!

This is very irritating ... Why not share simply a driver for Linux
(then for all distros) ?

Why this drivers is not into kernel of default?

How to I use this driver on Fedora 29?

Is this https://github.com/displaylink-rpm/displaylink-rpm and this
https://github.com/DisplayLink/evdi the only possible solution?

Many Thanks for your reply.

Fedora Server 29: when stop and start my qemu/kvm server, some service they do not start

2018-11-16 Thread Dario Lesca
I have setup a samba AD-DC server with BIND9_DLZ on a Fedora 29 server.

Samba is OK, all work fine when all services are started

The problem occur only when I stop and then start the server, If I
reboot, the problem do not occur.

When the server start after a stop, some services do not start and sshd
start (Luckily!) few minutes after the server is on.

The services that in my case do not start are named.service and
gssproxy.service.

For gssproxy service in my case is not a problem, but named it is:
without named started, samba do not work.

When I can jump on the server, after few minutes because systemd wait
few minute (timeout) that sshd.services and other two services
start, I can manually restart named and gssproxy without problem.

On the console during the startup process, when the system is almost
started I see systemd wait respective timeout for these tree services

This server is a fresh Fedora Server minimal install virtual machine
Qemu/KVM run on Centos 7 up to date.

In the paste I have already have a similar problem with samba and the
samba team have resolve it put into samba.service this directive:

Wants=network-online.target
After=network.target network-online.target

IMHO, it is correct that those services start only after the network is
up

Then I have try to add these directive in the three services that do
not start well after a stop of server and the problem is solved!

I have fill this bug:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1650289 in which there are
some useful logs files

If someone have some suggest to resolve this issue without modify the
.service file of this service let me know

Many thanks

I have setup a dns server with named bind-9.11.1-8.P3.fc27.x86_64 on
Fedora 27.

This is the DNS1 server for my notebook an all local lan
(192.168.61.254)

The problem is that when bandwidth is fully occupy (download some big
data), the DNS cannot resolve new name not in cache

[lesca@dodo ~]$ host getfedora.org 192.168.61.254
Using domain server:
Name: 192.168.61.254
Address: 192.168.61.254#53
Aliases:

Host getfedora.org not found: 2(SERVFAIL)

If I try to resolve this name via 8.8.8.8, I can resolve it

[lesca@dodo ~]$ host getfedora.org 8.8.8.8
Using domain server:
Name: 8.8.8.8

getfedora.org mail is handled by 10 mx1.redhat.com.
getfedora.org mail is handled by 20 mx2.redhat.com.

I have also try to configure bind to forward only to some forwarders
(es. 8.8.8.8; 8.8.4.4;) but the problem is the same: bind do not
resolve and 8.8.8.8 yes

NOTE: This problem with old version of BIND (Fedora 19) do not occurs

Someone can help me to investigate on this problem and howto resolve or
mitigate this problem?

Fedora 27 + Samba AD: krb5kdc not start when server is restarted

2017-11-23 Thread Dario Lesca
When I restart my Fedora server 27 with Samba 4.7.1 configured in AD-DC
mode, the samba.service start but not krb5kdc, seem due network
interface missing.

Into log I see this message:

samba[658]: task_server_terminate: [KDC: no network interfaces configured]

If I restart samba.service all work fine

There is a bug filled for this problem:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1496307

And I yesterday I have propose this potential solution,

Modify in samba.service After= parameter like this:

After=syslog.target network.target NetworkManager.service named.service
#wait NetworkManager.service and named.service to start before)

and now, when I restart my server, samba and krb5kdc start property.

Is this a potential and good solution?

Someone have some suggest?

Many thanks

If I run
# setenforce 0
and
# systemctrl start named

The service start without error.

Then is a selinux problem, but into /var/log/audit/audit.log or
journalctl I don't see any warning

Some suggest?

Today I have start to try f27+samba4.7.

Download and install Fedora 27 server rawhide
https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/development/rawhide/Serve
r/x86_64/iso/Fedora-Server-netinst-x86_64-Rawhide-20170724.n.0.iso

Install samba-dc:
# dnf install samba-client samba-dc samba-winbind attr acl krb5-workstation
tdb-tools samba-winbind-clients python

Install Bind:
# dnf -y install bind bind-utils

Run samba-tool
# samba-tool domain provision \
--realm=dom.loc \
--domain=dom \
--dns-backend=BIND9_DLZ \
--use-rfc2307 \
--server-role=dc \
--function-level=2008_R2 \

I have must remove this option: --use-xattr=yes , there is no more

Than I have to try configure bind and add into /etc/named.conf this:

   tkey-gssapi-keytab "/var/lib/samba/private/dns.keytab";

   include "/var/lib/samba/private/named.conf";

NOTE: the files to include have the right access:
# ll /var/lib/samba/private/{dns.keytab,named.conf}
-rw-r-. 1 root named 772 27 lug 13.46 /var/lib/samba/private/dns.keytab
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 720 27 lug 13.46 /var/lib/samba/private/named.conf

But the folder is not accessible from bind user:
# ll -ld /var/lib/samba/private/
drwx--. 6 root root 4096 27 lug 13.46 /var/lib/samba/private/

then I have change it with:
# chmod g+rx /var/lib/samba/private/
# chgrp named /var/lib/samba/private/

But when I start bind with:

# systemctl start named

I get this error:

lug 27 14:39:53 server-addc.dom.loc named[2418]: samba_dlz: Failed to connect

If I start named as root (without systemd ) with this command:

Fedora 25: cxacru module (ADSL Modem USB) fail to load its firmware at boot time

2017-06-28 Thread Dario Lesca
I have migrate my home server from Fedora 11 to Fedora 25 with a new
installation.

All work fine except the load firmware of the cxacru module (ADSL Modem
USB) at boot time, after a poweroff and unplug/plug the AC power cable.

If I try reload the modules manually when the server is started I get
the same error and the firmware is not loaded.

If I disconnect and reconnect modem USB when the server is on, the
cxacru module load its firmware without problem and I can load the ppp
interface property .

This is log message at boot time:

I have do a script to run after boot in order to load cxacru module and ppp0
interface.
But I must unplug and reattach manually the usb cable before run this script

There is some way (command line) to simulate unplug/plug of Modem USB?

Someone have some suggest?

I think is not a MTU problem, the MTU is same for all kernel I use

kernel 4.10.17 or previous
ping (ICMP): work
host (UDP) : work
ssh (TCP) : work
ftp (TCP) : work
smb (TCP) : work

kernel 4.11.3-200 and 4.11.3-201
ping (ICMP): work
host (UDP) : work
ssh (TCP) : NOT work
ftp (TCP) : NOT work
smb (TCP) : NOT work

I have fill a bugzilla:

VPN l2tp+ipsec: not work with last kernel 4.11.3-200

2017-06-02 Thread Dario Lesca
Yesterday I have update my fedora 25 and after reboot VPN l2tp+ipsec do
not work anymore.

The connection happens without problem, the routing are set correctly,
the DNS (UDP protocol) and ping (ICMP protocol) to remote host work.

Only the access to some server, like ssh or smb:// (TCP protocol) do
not work, in this case, if I monitoring on remote server with tcpdump,
none arrives.

If I reboot with previous kernel (4.10.17) all work fine.

Some suggest?

Then i can remove all comment to After= directive and, if one or more

Is this behavior consistent across all versions of systemd and all

Question on systemd service and "After=" directive

2017-03-03 Thread Dario Lesca
Gogs systemd service (gogs.service) must start after a DB is started.

Gogs can use mysql, mariadb, postgress, ecc db backend.

Now into service all this "After=" are commented and I must modify the
gogs.service file and comment out the right After entry

> [Unit]
> Description=Gogs
> After=syslog.target
> After=network.target
> #After=mysqld.service
> #After=mariadb.service
> #After=postgresql.service
> #After=memcached.service
> #After=redis.service
>
> [Service]
https://github.com/gogits/gogs/blob/master/scripts/systemd/gogs.service

Now I have modify the gogs.service file, but I'm looking for a way to
avoid modify the unit file

It's possible set After with all db service gogs needs, also if the
some named services are non installed, something like this, or leave
all After= directive uncommented:

After=aaa.service bbb.service ccc.service

If not, there is a way to avoid modify the unit file and put into it
something like this?

AfterIfExist=aaa.service bbb.service ccc.service

or another directive ?

Many thanks for your suggest.

Thanks Andreas your reply.

Yes, NT4 style it is still supported, but the last MS patch have
disable the password change (... It is not supported by the Kerberos
protocol ... It is not secure to change disabled or locked-out user
account passwords by using NTLM)

Also if build samba from source use Heimdal Kerberos.

Many Fedora / Centos / RedHat users who want to use ADDC on this kind
of Linux, since it is not supported by default, build the samba from
source. An example:
https://thingsdomakesense.wordpress.com/2016/04/27/installing-samba-4-4-2-ad-dc-on-centos-7-1511-2/

If is the same thinks, I think it's better rebuild RPM with this
support on a different isolate host and install/update new samba-ADDC
rpm on all production servers, rather than install development tools
and dependency packages on every production server and compile samba
from source and update it each time.

Or it's something wrong in this my reasoning?

Samba DC NT4 Style is Gone. It may be time to enable AD-DC for default into Fedora Samba4 packages?

2016-08-29 Thread Dario Lesca
This recent Microsoft's Patch
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2016-August/202197.html

disable password change for Domain Controller NT4 Style.

IMHO, It may be time to enable support to AD-DC mode, or release
another renamed packages with AD-DC support enable.

The samba.src is ready for this:

I have try to download the samba.src rpm, modify the spec file like
this:

> sed \
> -e 's/%global with_mitkrb5 1/%global with_mitkrb5 0/' \
> -e 's/%global with_dc 0/%global with_dc 1/' \
> ~/rpmbuild/SPECS/samba.spec

rebuild the package, install it on a test server and configure it in
AC-DC mode.

It seems work fine.

My question is:

There is some hope that in the short this flags are enable by default?

Many thanks for your reply

Probably the bug was also correct in centos7.

Systemd mount problem (Unit mnt-bk\x2dbenvet\x2d01.mount is bound to inactive unit dev-disk-by\x2dlabel-bk\x2dbenvet\x2d01.device. Stopping, too.]

2016-04-02 Thread Dario Lesca
Please, someone can help me to resolve this centos7 systemd issue?

Unfortunately for me on ML of centos none have reply

It's possible disable the "piece of software" of systemd that unmount
my backup disk a second after I mount it?

Many thanks

2015-05-11 Thread Dario Lesca
Follow this how to:

http://jonarcher.info/2015/02/getting-fedora-21-raspberry-pi-2/

I have load and update a official F21 arm7 (minimal install) on a new
raspberry PI 2, to make network backup of some server on a 1Gb USB hd
via rsync.

 Linux s-backup-lampo 3.18.12-v7+ #783 SMP PREEMPT Tue May 5 22:48:52 BST 2015
 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

Apparent all work find, but after a while rsync run, the mount point go
in read only mode and rsync stop to work with this error:

rsync: write failed on /mnt/metal-bk-1t/temp2/dir/file: Input/output error
 (5)
rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(393) [receiver=3.1.1]

And in dmesg and journalctl I see a lot of this message:

 mag 11 09:01:17 s-backup-lampo.ansaldisrl.it kernel: XFS (sda1):
 xfs_log_force: error -5 returned.

If I try unmount the device, the umount command still blocked and into

I would like to invite you to file a bug against yum on Fedora, using
https://bugzilla.redhat.com . Please explain in detail what happened
 and how you resolved it:

 - what you did ('yum groups mark convert', presumably)
 - why you did that (presumably something to do with un-installing
 Cinnamon desktop?)
 - what happened then (include error messages, and perhaps attach
 the /var/log/yum.log)
 - what you did to fix it and how you got the idea

Having a permanent record of this in bugzilla is probably more helpful
for the yum developers in case it touches some latent bugs that they
 may be working on.

Done:

(What does ... from fedora removed (updateinfo) mean?)

however, after show this 358 line, yum have correctly update only the 29

Now all work fine, I have no idea what happened, but now I can update my

New avconv instead of ffmpeg

2013-06-04 Thread Dario Lesca
About ffmpeg, a Debian's user say:

This package contains the deprecated ffmpeg program. This package
also serves as a transitional package to libav-tools. Users are
advised to use avconv from the libav-tools package instead of ffmpeg.

Libav is a complete, cross-platform solution to decode, encode,

record, convert and stream audio and video.

ffmpeg is not deprecated at all and is still being actively developed.
In fact, the upstream MPlayer tarball still contains ffmpeg, not libav.

Libav is a fork of ffmpeg that happened early 2011 as some were unhappy
with the project leader (Michael Niedermayer). Libav tried to take the
ffmpeg trademark/website for themselves, but the owner of the trademark
(Fabrice Bellard, original author of ffmpeg) intervened. The two
projects are now going their separate ways.

One of the members of the libav fork happens to be the maintainer of
ffmpeg on Debian/Ubuntu, so he deprecated ffmpeg and spread what some
might call misleading information about ffmpeg. Neither ffmpeg or libav
seem significantly better or worse than the other, either in features or
stability. Certainly neither of them can be considered deprecated
projects. I was under the impression that they stopped showing the
deprecation message, but it appears I may be wrong.

This gives a detailed look at what happened. The author claims
objectivity, but I'd take the facts and weigh things for yourself:
 http://blog.pkh.me/p/13-the-ffmpeg-libav-situation.html

I'm looking for a Fedora's package for libav-tools (or avcomv)

ffmpeg can be found in the RPMFusion repository: http://rpmfusion.org/
I don't think libav-tools is in any of our official repositories, though
I believe the gstreamer1-libav package uses libav instead of ffmpeg.
Most of our other media-related software is built with ffmpeg, not libav.

 Kind regards,

Thanks Jamie for your detailed explanation as well.

I will continue to use ffmpeg from RPMfusion

Hi, I need to create (but I'm not a programmer) an extension
for gnome shell that makes available a button on top bar that, when

the previous one if pressed slowly and, if pressed quickly, swap all

f18-64: Video Resolution problem on a netbook ASUS 1225C-GRY015U

Hi, I have buy this Asus netbook with Ubuntu pre-installed:

the problem (see below) there is with Ubuntu, but I have install
straightaway Fedora 18 64 bit.

After install and update f18 (kernel 3.8.2-206.fc18.x86_64), I have try
to work into Gnome 3.6, but the video performance are very slow and
gnome-shell use too many CPU :

projecting. Switch via Fn+monitor I can only see netbook monitor or

Question: there is some way to resolve the high CPU usage of gnome-shell
and change the video resolution when projector is connect?

If you don't know how to do this, you probably shouldn't do it. Both
Fedora 19 and GNOME 3.7 are development releases. Better wait for the
final release which will then be called GNOME 3.8. and be available
  with
  Fedora 19.

Or at least, wait for Fedora 19 Alpha, which should land in the second
half of April. Fedora 19 is even not yet branched from Rawhide.

Ok, ... will wait F19 Alpha and test GNOME live image

I have update via fedup with URL file:///mnt/cdrom/, where the cdrom
is Fedora-18-Beta-i386-DVD.iso.

All fedup process work fine, fedup ended with:

 testing upgrade transaction
 rpm transaction 100%

 rpm install 100%

 setting up system for upgrade
 Finished. Reboot to start upgrade.

But after reboot, the system wont start, even if I use the old f17 grub2
kernel entry. The boot process is stop after the:

Loading System Upgrade
Loading initial ramdisk ...

and the pass-phrase is not requested

If I goto with a rescue CD Fedora 17, the pass-phrase is required and
the disk mount under /mnt/sysimage correctly.

After many and many reboot (only simple reboot without modification)
finally the system request the pass-phrase and seems start.
But after few second the machine reboot.. (I have record a video for

Is this a know problem?
There is some method to debug what's happening ?
Some suggest?

You indicated at the start of this side-thread that you wanted to use
an existing partition without re-formatting it. You can do so just
fine with TC6 or other Beta builds. If you re-use a partition in TC6
it will be re-used without being re-formatted.

What is missing from TC6 and will be added in the next build is the
ability to choose to reformat the partition. If you do not want to
reformat it, this is not a problem for you.

Ok, now is clear enough.

When I re-install f18 on a f18 or f17 for test it, I format some FS
(/boot, / and /var) and do not format other FS (/home and /opt)

Since the new interface partitioning anaconda is quite different (and,
IMHO, for now, less intuitive) from the previous interface, I could not
understand when the FS was formatted and when not.

Thanks for reply

There is a method to use and mount a previous partition (es. /home

Have you tried to remove all the wl stuff and see if it work without,
if you have kmod-wl installed it will black list the kernel buildin

Without kmod-wl the wireless do not work.

You can also try to boot an F18 Live cd to check if it works. in tree

This weekend I'll try to use a f18 live cd or install a f18 ... then I
will update you.

f18: how to install into a LVM partitions (or RAID)

2012-10-16 Thread Dario Lesca
Hi, I have download the last Fedora-18-Beta-TC4 to do some tests
http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/18-Beta-TC4/Fedora/x86_64/iso/Fedora-18-Beta-TC4-x86_64-netinst.iso

How to install it on a empty disk and use LVM (or create a software
RaID)?

From the new disk manager anaconda panel I did not understand how to
create a new LVM partition and root and swap volume.

Is this features not yet supported or I have lost some HOWTO?

Many thanks

If this feature is not included then you can not update F1[0-7] on

Mi question is: Why change the interface disk partitioning? the previous
interface was perfect ... here is another thing, that worked well, was
sacrificed in honor of the news.
