Red Hat Bugzilla issues

2021-08-25 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hello everyone,

I was trying to file a bug following last QA meeting and turns out I
can't. I moved from an old laptop to a new one and in the new one I can't
login. I'm using the correct password and everything, but still is
rejecting me. And using my FAS means that I have to create a new account
with its own password... I don't want to go through all this hassle. I
just want to file a bug.
Can someone tell me what or where is the problem? Why the password that
works in one laptop is not working in the other?
Please, help and thank you

Kind regards,
Silvia

Hi all,

For what is worth, logging out and back in from the last ISO (KDE Spin)
does work in the live session. I'm going to try again and install it, and
see if there's any difference.

Re: F34 Change proposal: Wayland by Default for KDE Plasma Desktop (System-Wide Change)

2020-09-10 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Ondrej,

You need to install Kwin Wayland and another package that will provide the
backend.
My experience wasn't the best, several apps crashed, effects stuttered or
were very slow, even typing felt slower. But at least my desktop looked
normal.
One comment: the logging out issue is not because of Wayland. I have the
same with Xorg, and there are several bug reports pointing to the same
issue.

Kind regards,
Lailah

Yes, I don't see KDE Wayland sufficiently mature to actually work as a
default. It needs more work and testing.

Re: Remove all non UK/USA English spell checker variants from default Fedora installation

2020-07-19 Thread Silvia Sánchez
British English is not a dialect. As for being the most commonly used by
non-native speakers I disagree. That largely depends on where those
non-native speakers are from. In many countries "the" English is British,
with the US spelling being a movie/gaming thing. For many, the default
when they go to school is British spelling and they're even told that
that's "the only one correct".
Said that, what exactly are we gaining by not adding UK ?

Re: Remove all non UK/USA English spell checker variants from default Fedora installation

2020-07-18 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Kevin,

It's not compared to other languages but to other spellings of the same
language.
Why should it be UK/US and not US only? Because there are millions of
people using British spelling instead of US spelling. Not only in Britain
but around the world; and many other spellings root from the British
variation. Unless it takes a lot of space, what's the harm in keeping it?

Kind regards,
Silvia

Hello everyone!

I specially love this one:

small.
I don't feel like my screen is broken. While I'm not a big fan of squares

there was something wrong but that it was intended. There's a different
between crap/broken and artistic choice.

Re: CoC

Hello,

I just read Gnome Code of Conduct, which can be found here:
https://wiki.gnome.org/Foundation/CodeOfConduct
Can anyone explain in which line racism is allowed?
Also, what communism has to do with anything? Aren't you getting a bit too
paranoid? Why communist and not fascism? And how the decisions made in a
software-related community can escalate to concentration camps and police
brutality? How on Earth do you connect these activities?
*Can we please get back to common sense?*

2020-01-13 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hello,

Pantheon relies heavily on Gnome, so installing Gnome Session in a Pantheon
desktop makes sense. About the DM, not sure. LightDM is not Pantheon DM,
because Pantheon doesn't have a DM of its own AFAIK. I'm guessing, because
I don't use Pantheon, that what happens is that when Pantheon is marked to
install there is no DM marked to be installed with it, and hence the
problem when you delete everything else.
Now a question: you get a TTY. Can you login via TTY and start a graphic
session?

Hi!

For what is worth:
I had issues with UEFI mode. F28 or 29 work fine, but F31 hangs and doesn't
boot let alone installing or updating.

Yes, sure, I would be more than happy to comaintain.
And yes, I totally agree with you Alessio; since they intend to update it
to Python 3 in upstream, it's better to wait.

so let's leave it for the next week.

Hi folks!

Fine for me. I'm on holidays and I didn't hit any urgent bug so far. The
one I reported last time got fixed, so there's nothing to say from my side.

Re: orphaning bleachbit

2019-05-19 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hello,

Yes, I know Python 2 will be soon removed, but I can't just let Bleachbit
die. It's too useful for that.
Finding a sponsor seems to be the hard bit. I've been looking for one for
ages.
Thanks for the answer.

Hello,

I don't have experience maintaining packages but I'm willing to maintain
Bleachbit as I use it a lot, it's the first programme I install when I do a
fresh install. Let me know what I need to do and I'll take care.

Re: Issues with Google Chrome, PyCharm, Steam and other third-party repos in Fedora 29 prereleases

2018-10-26 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hello all,

This didn't happen to me with the last version (F28) but I didn't install
Workstation, I installed KDE Spin. So now my question is: Does this
affect to all Fedoras, including Spins and Labs, or is it an issue that for
some reason affects Workstation only?

Kind regards.

Hi,

Right now, no because I'm in the process of moving to a new laptop.
Usually yes, I use it.
Thanks Till for offering to sponsor me. I'll do my homework for this now
:3 Thank you!
About my FAS, it's lailah just because Fedora didn't allow me to have a
normal name with uppercase in the beginning. Otherwise, it would be
"Lailah". That was my intention and that's why I write it that way in my
emails. Maybe I should just put a link instead.

Kind regards,

Re: Intent to orphan Python 2

2018-03-25 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hi everyone,

First, I agree with Richard that packaging two versions is painful. It's
also confusing from the other side. "Install Python. I already have it.
No, that's Python2, you need Python3. (O_O)"
Second, I think the earlier we start the better. So there's time to cut
leafs and replace old libraries in Python2 with equivalents in Python3,
dropping packages, etc. By the time, Python2 is definitely deprecated,
most of the work is done and only some details remain.
Third, upgrading packages and changing dependencies is no minor tasks. With
time, it can be done silently with testing enough so there are no major
issues.
Side question, what is ML?

Kind regards,
Silvia

Hi everyone,

I've been talking with other people and apparently is quite common to
have issues with HP laptops. F25 works but F27 doesn't, with an
extreme case of not booting at all.
In my case I suspect of Wayland, provided other desktops/spins did
work. But maybe I'm wrong or it's not the only one in fault. I can
provide hardware details in the meeting.

Re: [Test-Announce] Proposal to CANCEL: 2018-02-05 blocker review meeting

2018-02-03 Thread Silvia Sánchez
Hi,

I actually have an issue that could be a Beta blocker but I didn't file the
bug because I don't know where to do so, and there were no meetings so far,
so I hadn't the chance to discuss it.

Silvia

Hello,

I would prefer to keep Network Manager as core. I don't see what benefits
would bring if it's removed and marked as optional.
