It often will not work for everyone, but should work mostly formost. But you better subscribe here and keep a non-rwhide system available when running rawhide. > I also have not seen any documentation on how to manually restore the > previous (gnome-panel) default. For me the desktop effects switch works as expected, traditional gnome when disabled and shell when enabled. But I have not updated my rawhide in some time, and won't be able to either for some time due to ACPI issues with the default debug kernel. Production kernels works on the box I have available for testing, but unfornately debug kernels do not (hangs in ACPI initialization). I'm happy now, not that the problem is resolved (it isn't) but that there is now a reference to the upstream bug which contains far more details. It is this context that the ticket was missing and left people wondering why something that was so trivial was not getting fixed (because, if one looks at the upstream bug it is definitely non-trivial). I still think migrating to GNOME shell by default was a mistake if the proper fallbacks were not in place. If the developers knew the fallbacks were not implemented (this seems to be the case), why was it ever enabled by default? I have no problem with rawhide breakage from time to time, but intentional breakage, and indeed intentional breakage that leaves one with no access to their desktop, should be avoided at all cost. I also have not seen any documentation on how to manually restore the previous (gnome-panel) default. I may have just missed it, but the "Desktop Effects" selector doesn't appear to make a difference. This too should have been fixed before the switch was implemented. Isn't that just https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26980 ? Please advise. "Be patient" would be my advice. Yes, this looks like something that should get attention... given holdays and floods, it's probibly just not been gotten to yet. Hopefully, someone will be able to dig more into it soon. kevin signature.asc Description: PGP signature -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel
Can someone please give this ticket some attention?
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625187 This bug basically makes Fedora completely unusable in rawhide for NVA{3,5,8} users. At this point I think it should be made a blocker. Multiple people have volunteered help to resolve it, but there has been no movement for months, no link to an upstream bug and no advice on how to move the ticket forward. Please advise.
