Unretiring gnome-panel and gnome-applets for gnome-flashback

2017-06-09 Thread Yaakov Selkowitz

I would like to unretire gnome-panel and gnome-applets:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1460317
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1460319

These are runtime prerequisites for gnome-flashback:

gnome-panel removal

2013-05-01 Thread Kalev Lember
Hi,

gnome-panel and gnome-applets just got blocked [1] in koji. We still
have a number of packages depending on gnome-panel, either through
library deps or through Requires: gnome-panel, and all of these are
going to show up as broken deps with the next rawhide and F19 composes.

(They were in a broken state before, gnome-panel hasn't been installable
in F19 for a while; they just haven't shown up in the broken deps report.)

For upgrade path to F19, gnome-panel and gnome-applets are obsoleted by
gnome-classic-session [2], and if there are any other gnome panel
applets that were common, might be worth listing these in the
gnome-classic-session obsoletes as well. Please let me know if I should
add anything else there.

Thanks,
Kalev

Neither is required, and the kernel seems to have a significant nouveau

you use nouveau.

All the necessary builds have now been added to the relevant update in
Bodhi, but it may take a bit of time for them to make the mirrors.

Hi,

since days it's not possible to update my F16 system fully (a lot of

Anybody knows if the problem will be solved?

All help is welcome.

thunderbird-lightning is broken, without the update, for thunderbird 6,
but this won't block updating other stuff.

rawhide gnome-panel

2010-04-08 Thread Jon Masters
Folks,

I created a spare encrypted LVM volume group for testing rawhide (and
one for F13 too) on my new Macbook. I cloned the existing updated F12
install and then did an upgrade to rawhide. It does boot, and it does
run X but the gnome-panel is not displayed (it is running). If I kill
it, it reloads as an emply 1 inch width bar at the top of the screen. If
I remove the home directory and copy /etc/skel, the same happens.

There were a few segfaults (actually many segfaults) in gconf during the
upgrade process and so I'm concerned something went awry. Is there some
gconf managed global resource I need to regenerate that's not taken care
of by wiping out the home directory?

Jon.

I've filed a bug against gconf (hoping that's it):

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=580665

More generically, I was interested to know if someone had a quick
solution for rebuilding whatever databases are used by gconf without
removing and re-installing a lot of packages. The current setup has
panels that believe they are locked, and gconf-editor shows few
properties which makes me think its database is hosed. I could ask
halfline via IRC or via a BZ only he and I will see, or I could ask
generally where others might get to share in my learning experience.

Jon.

Gnome panel

2010-03-11 Thread Mike Chambers
Anyone having any issues with the latest gnome-panel update that has
come out in last day or two? As in, when trying to log out the panel
just crashes and resets itself? Went back to last gnome good panel but
that one has issues when running with the rest of the gnome updates.

I've had it crash a few times today, yeah. Filed a bug on one
occurrence.

Looks like new build being compiled, but saw on koji that it failed.
Hope it's a fix.
