I upgraded dnf5 on my dnf5-only system to the side tag packages without any
problems.
I was able to use your side tag as a boostrap and build repository in mock.
I was able to install python3-dnf alognside dnf5.
Scratchbuilding libmodulemd in Koji with your side tag also passed.

I did not test uprading f39 to your side tag repository.

When you do merge this, please coordinate with me and Tomáš Hrnčiar about
Python 3.12.

Most importantly:

Don't merge a Python 3.11 build of dnf to rawhide if the Python 3.12 side tag
was merged in the meantime.

Hi all,

*TL;DR please, test scratch builds in f39-build-side-68994 side-tag.*

The changes for dnf5 are now ready to be tested before landing in rawhide.
We made a side-tag with the newest dnf and dnf5, and we would like to get
some feedback on that. We would like to push the changes to rawhide for the
next week.

Use `fedpkg scratch-build --target=f39-build-side-68994` to test it.

The dependency is auto-generated, it's not the packager's fault. I
suspect the ultimate cause is this upstream:

https://gitea.nouspiro.space/nou/libXISF/commit/1c0d6e4e054f1c5ac461e6da3a63c5f7acaa0a28

which causes the pkgconfig file to have this line:

Requires.private: lz4;pugixml;zlib

(you can see that line
in
https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//packages/libXISF/0.2.5/1.fc38/x86_64/libXISF-0.2.5-1.fc38.x86_64.rpm
). That's what our dependency generator turns into
`pkgconfig(lz4;pugixml;zlib)`. I'll file an upstream issue.

I am really sorry but this doesn't sound like a problem of DNF or DNF5. DNF and
DNF5 uses the same solver therefore I do not expect any difference in behavior.
May I ask you to verify the behavior with DNF first?

It seem rawhide copr builds are broken...

To reproduce, try:

$ COPR=whatever
$ copr create $COPR

--chroot fedora-rawhide-x86_64 --delete-after-days 7

If I understand the change correctly, packages are expected to RPM-depend on
"dnf5", but to execute "dnf" command. That means the bugs are not actionable
until the change is implemented in dnf5.

This is quite an ambitious schedule. Bugs filed yesterday against
packages using dnf, for a change that is planned in 7 days time. And
'dnf download' is not as featureful as the old version of dnf so it
really does require deeper changes to supermin.

Rich.

change was already announced in
