Yes, if someone wants to chime in and do whatever they want with those
packages in EPEL, they're free to do so, but I don't want the packages to
be branched there based on my request which never had the intention of
putting anything into EPEL.

Unless plans have changed compared to what was stated in the pull
request, someone can and may request that both Firefox and Thunderbird
be made available as RPMs in EPEL, especially if they don't want to
use Flatpak for whatever particular reason. Flatpaks are not a reason
to exclude from EPEL, since RPM content does not conflict with Flatpak
content.

But yes, we don't have to auto-branch it.

Please exclude Thunderbird and Firefox from the EPEL 10 as they are
packaged in RHEL. See
https://github.com/minimization/content-resolver-input/pull/1019 on why
they're there and not in ELN (to not "pollute" the ELN buildroot).

worth looking into...

This was the result of a discussion as to whether we should
pre-populate the branch contents. We settled on creating them as
empty. It's the same list as above.

The idea behind ELN Extras was to get an early preview of stuff that
people want in the next EPEL release. During the discussion today, we
decided that it might be easier to essentially just create EPEL N+1
earlier and take advantage of the ELN tooling and tagging. I'm going
to work up a proposal over the next week or so and send it out for
discussion.

I hope you will not create epel10 branches for *all* packages in Fedora.
Which packages *will* get an epel10 branch auto-created?

FESCo has requested that the ELN SIG document some of its policies

  * There's a disconnect between CentOS Stream and ELN; tboot depends on
grub2-efi-x64-modules in CS9 (sgallagh, 16:26:12)
  * ACTION: yselkowitz will contact the maintainers to find out what
should happen in ELN (sgallagh, 16:26:35)

not present in the Content Resolver output. (sgallagh, 16:27:24)

  * First packages will be synced to CentOS Stream 10 next week.
Composes to come later. (sgallagh, 16:50:23)

work should continue to happen on ELN until further notice.

reschedule this meeting for next Friday, June 23rd. This will NOT

I've just sent out a message[1] to devel-announce describing our plans
in broad strokes. Anyone who has questions or wants to help is welcome
to join us for our meeting today.

== tl;dr ==
* We'll do an ELN mass rebuild to see how many builds will fail
* We'll import ELN packages to c10s gradually, starting with just the
runtime set. We'll use ELN as the buildroot at the start.
* We'll import the buildroot set to c10s when it gets small enough.
* You’ll see activity in CentOS Stream 10, but it’s not yet time to
get involved. A general availability announcement will follow sometime
in the first half of 2024.

We don't currently have an agenda, so I think we'll skip this meeting.
The most recent status is that ppc64le and s390x are still broken, but
someone from the kernel architectures team is looking at it.

https://tiny.distro.builders/view-srpm--view-eln--libkcapi.html has it
listed as part of the buildroot, but it's not specifically included in
the ELN compose. The same is true for CentOS Stream 9[1] and RHEL 9,
so if this is incorrect it should be resolved there and we will pull
it in. Otherwise, it remains available in the Koji buildroot, but
won't show up in the ELN compose.

Not a full-blown meeting prompt,
but I recall complaining about `fipscheck` missing from ELN repositories,
and IIRC it was blocked on something that time.
If you could have a second look, that'd be appreciated,
as it's a popular build dependency among the packages I'm concerned about.

I have one topic for the agenda this time around: crypto-policies in ELN

For context, SHA-1 is being deprecated in RHEL for cryptographic uses
(not for all uses). I'd like for us to carry the RHEL policies in ELN
(currently we are using the Fedora policies).

Meeting summary
---
* Init Process  (sgallagh, 17:00:13)

* Status Report  (sgallagh, 17:04:18)
  * Composes are timing out and failing, but we did get a good one on
Mar. 9 (sgallagh, 17:06:12)
  * ELN SIG spoke to the Fedora Council yesterday, see recording at
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnIfca4LPFVn8-FjpPVc1ow when
available (sgallagh, 17:08:29)
  * ELN-Extras is in progress, but slow going due to other commitments.
Reviews requested for

https://gitlab.com/redhat/centos-stream/ci-cd/distrosync/distrobuildsync/-/merge_requests/37
(sgallagh, 17:11:45)

* x86_64-v3  (sgallagh, 17:13:54)
  * ACTION: sgallagh to discuss the impact of x86_64-v3 on RHEL for Edge
with RHEL Pgm (sgallagh, 17:54:10)
  * Important points raised: v3 was not universally available until
2017, which means existing hardware may need replacement to run
(sgallagh, 17:55:20)
  * non-AVX2 hardware is still in production, and widely deployed in
long-lifecycle environments (emdedded/pos/appliances/etc.) that
could be impacted by this change (dcavalca, 17:55:30)
  * Concerns about ISV and integrator cases for x86_64-v3 for RHEL.
Would prefer to see us look into supporting multiple flavors for
x86_64 in parallel like done in the past with ppc64 with p7 and
x86_32 with i586 and i686 (Eighth_Doctor, 17:55:34)
  * Edge devices frequently use low-power Intel chips such as Atom and
many (most?) don't have v3 support (sgallagh, 17:55:47)
  * Increasing the baseline will lead to smaller code (both in less disk
space and higher efficiency) (sgallagh, 17:56:47)
  * On the other hand, multiple builds in the OS do not clean the pipes
for ISVs, which would have to deliver multiple builds as well to
avoid support issues. (fweimer, 17:56:51)
  * The guaranteed availability of AVX2 extensions would benefit
high-performance computing, particularly machine-learning.
(sgallagh, 17:57:20)
  * OpenMandriva has an implementation of x86_64 flavors we can use as a
basis to understand implementing a similar system for supporting
x86_64-vX levels in parallel. (Eighth_Doctor, 17:58:32)

Meeting ended at 18:03:44 UTC.

I just went through and brought our ticket queue on
https://github.com/fedora-eln/eln/issues and closed a bunch that are
resolved (and noted some that were blocked or stalled).

Most of the remaining tickets really relate to improving our
documentation, so I'd like to discuss this as our primary topic for
tomorrow's meeting. If you have any other items to discuss, please
reply to this email and let me know.

This might not warrant a meeting, but it's something that just came up.
ELN-Extra
I never went beyond the Content Resolver initial setup, because there
weren't any real requests.
But now I am getting one.
Will the new ELN build implementation be able to do ELN Extra?
It would need to pull from the ELN Extra view on Content Resolvers, and
build against the eln-extra build target.
To me, that seems simple, but I'm not the one setting up the new build
implementation.

A topic I want to add: clarifying guidance on conditionals[1]. There
seem to be some mistaken impressions on conditional guidance that I
think we should straighten out.
