Re: orphaning some packages

2022-11-29 Thread Ray Strode
Hi,

Over the years, I've acquired some packages that aren't really widely
used anymore. I'm orphaning them now as part of a clean up initiative
for the GNOME packages.

I don't think any of them will be of any interest to anyone, but just
in case someone does want one, I'm including the list here:

Ancient themes:

bluecurve-classic-metacity-the
me
bluecurve-gnome-theme
bluecurve-gtk-themes
bluecurve-icon-theme
bluecurve-kde-theme
bluecurve-metacity-theme
bluecurve-xmms-skin
fedora-screensaver-theme

Ancient settings editor:
gconf-editor

Ancient GNOME libraries
libbonobo
libbonoboui
libgnome
libgnomeui

gtk2 UI designer that uses above GNOME libraries
glade2

Note that you no longer need to to turn this into a two-step process
(for yourself) just "to be nice":
Adopting an orphaned package is now an instant action that only
requires pushing a button, and it does no longer require manual
intervention by Fedora infra or releng.
Additionally, "giving" a package to somebody manually is actually
*more* work than orphaning it directly (which is also only one button
click away).

For the packages that have other people as main admins, you can just
remove yourself from the package. For the others, you could orphan them
or maybe reach out to any co-maintainers first.

Please assign perl-Config-General to me.

I need to get back to this one, I'm not quite ready to let it go but you are
right that I have not been able to give it much time lately.

If you want to comaintain its package I'd gladly give you commit access to it on
dist-git.

It's a good chess game, unfortunately it does have weird corner cases
where some processes would consume 100% of CPU, and there are tons of

I might be interested in adopting this package. I am not
really used on how packages adoptions work in Fedora.

I wasnt able to find a nice wiki page for that either, so it would
be great if someone could show me the right way for doing this.

Well, that actually seems to be right, but maybe could be updated to
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tagtool/, though. But even with that,
upstream doesn't seem to be that active at present, unfortunately. :(

Anyway, I still find it the best tool for editing MP3 tags around, so,
is there any reason to not maintain it anymore from Fedora's point of
view?

It will probably take a bit of work to remove the gtk2 depreciated
cruft to get it working again with F15.

 Hi all,

Because of my studies, I have no more time to devote to packaging, so
 I'm orphaning the followings:
gconf-cleaner - Upstream dead long time
ago, 1 bug gnome-specimen - Upstream dead too, no bug
qemu-launcher - Another upstream dead, no bug
gtkperf - No more upstream, no bug, but still working fine
skychart - Upstream alive, 3 bugs, have a co-maintainer (mmahut, do you
 want to be maintainer?)
notecase - Upstream stopped devel, FTBS bug with a fixed package living
in the F13 repo (I don't know what I have done here)
wifi-radar - Upstream still alive, updated, 2 old bugs (including one
 RFE)

Please let me know if you want to take ownership of one of them, I'll
release it. If nobody wants them, I will retire the first three.
