Also we got this big regression [1] on Mesa-20.3.x

I was able to use scratch-build on the srpm created by fedpkg local in
order to get i686 rpms for testing. However, I had the same problem, so
an updated build is unlikely to fix whatever my problem is.

I have only had problems with wine so far. But I use xfce and lightdm and
they seem to work. I filed bug 1924933 for the wine issue, but the error
messages didn't look like they would help much.

Is their going to be an updated build soon? I tried to build rc4 (which
looks to be what was released), but I need to figure out how to get both
x86_64 and i686 rpms built when using fedpkg local. If there isn't going
to be an update for a while, I'll spend time figuring that out.

When I want to use wine, I just downgrade to mesa 20 and things work.

For anyone affected by this but not following the bug report:
It seems the Xorg issues are caused not by mesa itself, but by DRI1
support removal in xserver, which broke the QXL driver.

Hi,
I do not see any crash as such, Xorg simply fails to start with:

  Fatal server error:
  [32.661] (EE) no screens found(EE)

Has anyone got a backtrace they could put in a bug? I'm not seeing a

Can confirm, gdm and gnome/wayland works again, but all Xorg based
sessions are now even more broken, e.g. you're returned to gdm a
second after you enter your password.

Hi,
for what it's worth, it helped me with gdm, it opens now, but I cannot
log in to "GNOME on Xorg", I'm immediately returned back to the gdm.
Logging to "GNOME" (aka Wayland) works.

I also noticed a huge CPU spike after confirming my password (when
logging into the Wayland), but it's probably unrelated to this thing.

It should be dnf-plugin-system-upgrade .

I think I've seen a response from the dnf team somewhere that they're aware
of this not great of an UX and will fix that somehow, I am not going to be
able to find that to quote I am afraid.

What kernels are you guys on? It's a little hard to tell as everything
seems a bit shaky right now, but I think openQA was seeing repeated
Shell crashes up until today's compose - with debug kernels - but with
today's compose (with a non-debug kernel) that doesn't seem to be
happening.

We *do* get a crash during g-i-s right after first boot of the
installed system, though. I'm about to look into that and file a bug.
