self introduction - hoping to be a packager
Hello All, I would like to join the packagers group in Fedora. I have been participating in QA activities for a year or two now and would like to contribute to maintaining packages as well. As a first step, I have attempted to pacakge Clustal Omega, a multiple sequence alignment tool, and submitted it for review. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1057766 This is my first attempt at packaging and I hope someone will review this and guide me through the process. Thanks a lot! nonamedotc. -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct
Re: self introduction - hoping to be a packager
Hi, thank you for taking the time to join us. If you want to speed things up, I'd suggest that you start doing informal reviews of other pending reviews and when you're done, link them to your review. Many sponsors will ask you that to assess your packaging knowledge anyway, just do it and do it consciously. Think of it as the fast lane to find a sponsor. best regards, H. -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct

I'm not a lawyer but not being able to identify a contributor might even invalidate the Contributor Agreement. H. PS: That reminded good ol' days when i got a slap on the wrist by Kevin for using a nickname in my first reviews :) -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct

I never really bothered with doing that till today! :) I will try to do an informal package review pretty soon and see how well I can spot problems. Cheers! I hope when receiving emails from you we can see your real name also. Currently only shows nonamedotc. No name? :) Thanks. -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct
