Yes. The problem you describe only happens the first time the menu is drawn, the subsequent times are unaffected. You can tell it is going to be a problem if you can't see the down-arrow at the bottom of the menu. You can also use the arrow keys to scroll without drawing the menu. Has it been fixed upstream yet?
