Weird, I just tried the 3/16/ daily Forensics and problem is still there.
 Has the fix been applied to the dailys?

It is definitely a kernel bug, I'm quite sure.
And, I also think it's related to the USB subsystem. Could you try to
burn the ISO image to a DVD disc and boot off it?
Going to do the same here

Don't mean to interject, but if you have a second system, you could just pull
the drive out of the system that's having issues and throw it in a working
system. Mount the drive and see if the logs can be pulled that way. Or had this
already been attempted?

This is a bold claim, the system boots. You can interactively boot as
well (press I when OpenRC says so), you can start in debug mode,
etc.
I booted almost every daily ISO image in VirtualBox (and on a bunch of
real systems) and I haven't gotten any problem: this is a statement of
the same quality of yours, no detail on what I actually booted, no
version information, nothing.
I am not really sure of what I am supposed to do, just saying it does
not boot doesn't help me and doesn't help you.

So some progress than. Seems like it doesn't effect VM setups and some

2/9/13 x86_64 Forensics boots

*

sabayonuser@localhost ~ $ uname -a
Linux localhost 3.7.0-sabayon #1 SMP Wed Jan 23 20:51:11 UTC 2013 x86_64
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7500 @ 2.93GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux*
*
*
*With latest daily Interactive Mode only works for so long, but I ran
across errors like:*
*
*
*sh: //sbin/fbsplashd.static: Input/output error*
* failed to start splash daemon*
* error code 32256*
*
*
*fsck*
*/etc/init.d/fsck line 83: /bin/rm: Input/output error*
*/etc/init.d/sbin/fsck line 90: Input.output error*
*filesystem couldn't be fixed*
*rc: aborting*
*fsck caught SIGTERM, aborting*
*failed to open /lib64/splash/cached/.splash: No such file for directory*
*sh: /bin/sed: Input/Output error*
*Init: Entering run level:3*
*
*
The agetty thing happens and no more keyboard and mouse. For some reason, I
recall an issue we had in the past long time ago with agetty, but can't
remember it.
