there are currently 71 PRs open within oVirt project, waiting for a review:

If you'd like to get them moving forward, please review them. You don't
need to be one of the people with merge rights there in order to review.
Your feedback may still help getting the PR in or getting it improved or
getting it rejected.

Hi, there's no documentation related to installing oVirt on ARM64 as nobody
worked actively on that feature within the community.
Packages built for ARM are available in CentOS repositories:
CentOS Stream 9:
https://mirror.stream.centos.org/SIGs/9-stream/virt/aarch64/ovirt-45/
CentOS Stream 8:
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/8-stream/virt/aarch64/ovirt-45/

You can read more about ARM64 compatibility in this thread:
https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/devel@ovirt.org/thread/NE3LANVZHLN4MQD75C5KYM6IEOYSVED2/#WE2HNYTTPTUH3GSMBHRP6DPLEVH7ZXHU

Huawei also mentions running oVirt Engine on ARM64 on their Kunpeng
Virtualization Boostkit:
https://www.hikunpeng.com/document/detail/en/kunpengcpfs/ecosystemEnable/oVirt/kunpengovirtoe_04_0001.html

This part is probably requiring some additional work, would be nice to see
this getting included in oVirt 4.6.
Are you going to start looking/working into this?

This is weird.
I checked the content of the rpm:
$ wget
https://cbs.centos.org/kojifiles/packages/centos-release-ovirt45/8.7/1.el8s/noarch/centos-release-ovirt45-8.7-1.el8s.noarch.rpm

centos-release-ovirt45-8.7-1.el8s.noarch/etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-oVirt-4.5.repo

and it's disabled there.

@Lev Veyde two tasks for you here:
- can you check how the testing repo got enabled on a freshly installed
system?
- can you check why rpm size and dnf expected size are not matching?

You should reach out to Oracle support.
As for oVirt, 4.4 reached end of life as well, oVirt is now at 4.5.
oVirt installation docs are here: https://ovirt.org/documentation/

With regards to ISOs and appliance, I got in touch with both Alma Linux and
Rocky Linux explaining how to build an oVirt Node ISO based on their own
repositories so they can ship them through their mirrors. Also discussed on
https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/us...@ovirt.org/message/LLKJKW22FAYPY2GOGNHXVABKSIWT7IMG/

Issue is we lack capacity and resources for rebuilding oVirt for all
possible CentOS Stream derivatives. So I would be happy to help Rocky and
Alma rebuild their own flavor of oVirt Node but we can't really commit to
maintaining those builds and keeping them tested.

[ovirt-devel] Re: oVirt migration to stable OS?

2022-05-16 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
I would have discussed this in user mailing list rather than in development
mailing list.
Anyway, you're welcome to run oVirt on RHEL, Alma, Rocky, Oracle, it should
work perfectly fine on RHEL 8.6 and derivatives.
Prerequisite for using them: https://ovirt.org/download/install_on_rhel.html

We are using CentOS Stream as a development platform as it will give us
insight on what will come next.
But for a production environment it's totally fine not using CentOS Stream.

[ovirt-devel] oVirt survey questions gathering

2022-05-16 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi, as every year I'd like to have a survey gathering feedback from the
oVirt community.
I would like to get input from the community itself on what you'd like to
know from the other members of the community.

As oVirt developer: which question may help you take decisions on new
features or deprecate existing ones you consider unused?
As oVirt sysadmin user: which question may help you take decisions on your
datacenters planning?
As a third party software vendor (backup, monitoring, ...): which questions
may help you drive your further developments integrating with oVirt?
As a downstream vendor, integrator, consultant offering services around
oVirt: which questions may help you drive your investment on contributing
to oVirt project?
As a university, research center, high school, code club, which questions
may help you drive your decision to be involved with the future of oVirt
project?
Any other questions you think may be relevant and worth asking the oVirt
community?

Collecting questions suggested in this thread here:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/wiki/oVirt-2022-Survey-questions

Thanks,

[ovirt-devel] packaging: spec: %add_maven_depmap removal #225

2022-04-08 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,

I update my PR: https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/pull/225
and despite rpm is built, the logs show some errors:

# Exception: Following dependencies were not resolved and requires cannot
be generated.
# Either remove the dependencies from pom.xml or add proper packages to
BuildRequires:
# org.jboss.spec.javax.xml.bind:jboss-jaxb-api_2.3_spec:2.0.0.Final
required by org.ovirt.engine.api:restapi-definition
# javax.activation:activation:1.1 required by
org.ovirt.engine.api:restapi-definition
#
# Exception: Following dependencies were not resolved and requires cannot
be generated.
# Either remove the dependencies from pom.xml or add proper packages to
BuildRequires:
#
org.jboss.spec.javax.interceptor:jboss-interceptors-api_1.1_spec:1.0.0.Final
required by org.ovirt.engine.core:bll
#
# Exception: Following dependencies were not resolved and requires cannot

# Either remove the dependencies from pom.xml or add proper packages to
BuildRequires:
# org.infinispan:infinispan-core:9.4.18.Final required by
org.ovirt.engine.core:utils
# org.jboss.modules:jboss-modules:1.1.1.GA required by
org.ovirt.engine.core:extensions-manager
# org.hibernate.validator:hibernate-validator:6.0.18.Final required by
org.ovirt.engine.core:common

I see Artur commented:

# asocha:
# Unfortunately, we cannot mark these 2 dependencies as 'provided'
because they are required at 'compile' time
#
# Right now I can only think about 2 options:
# 1) install it (preferably via ovirt-dependencies) and
#'BuildRequires: '
# 2) register earlier using 'mvn_artifact' & 'mvn_package' (plus any
transitive dependencies)
# and then here in 'install' section use:
#'%mvn_package ":hibernate-validator*" __noinstall'
#'%mvn_package ":infinispan-core*" __noinstall'
#'%mvn_package ":jboss-modules*" __noinstall'
# to skip installation
# Not sure if there is a better way, but I cannot exclude it.

How should we proceed?

[ovirt-devel] Re: Welcome to oVirt 4.5.0 Beta test day!

2022-04-07 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Many thanks to:
- Diego Ercolani
- Jöran Malek
- Nikolai Sednev
- Polina Agranat
- Sharon Gratch

For having joined today's test day and reporting their findings.

And to:
- Yedidyah Bar David
- Shani Leviim
- Martin Perina

For having assisted looking into reported issues.
Test cases covered, see reports:
https://trello.com/c/KNPBi5Fp - Deploy on Ceph storage
https://trello.com/c/3oblVWDs - Upgrade from oVirt 4.4.10 with Gluster 8 to
oVirt 4.5.0 Beta with Gluster 10

Today test day resulted with the opening / hitting the following bugs:
oVirt:
Bug 2072881 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2072881> - Upgrade
via backup and restore from 4.4 to 4.5 is blocked
Bug 2073005 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2073005> -
ui-extensions
dialogs are flashing when they are rendered on a chrome browser
Bug 2073120 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2073120> - The CPU
resources are not properly freed upon dedicated VM hibernation
Bug 2073074 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2073074> - failing
to set tuned profile on oVirt Node with Gluster Mode
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/issues/246 - With engine installed in
Gluster mode only, the compute tab is not listed anymore in the left menu.

oVirt Website / Docs:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/issues/2838 - Missing oVirt 4.4 to 4.5
upgrade guide
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/issues/2837 - Upgrade guide is not
correctly oVirt branded

The dedicated test day is reaching its end but it doesn't mean you can't
continue the testing.
Please continue testing it as most of the test cases in the trello board
have not been touched at all.
A beta refresh / release candidate will be prepared after the upgrade issue
reported in https://trello.com/c/3oblVWDs will be fixed.

We are 7 working days to GA, I can't express how important it is to join
the testing effort of this oVirt beta if you expect your specific use case
to work without issues at GA.

Thanks,

[ovirt-devel] 4.5.0 beta compose delayed to April 4th 2022

2022-03-30 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
oVirt 4.5.0 beta compose has been delayed to next week on April 4th as
ovirt-engine and gluster-ansible-role support for ansible-core 2.12 missed
today's deadline.

Test day has been rescheduled accordingly to April 5th.

Testers: please continue testing the released Alpha and providing feedback
https://trello.com/b/3FZ7gdhM/ovirt-450-test-day

A few packages that were meant to be shipped today as part of the beta
release have been already pushed to testing repositories so you can already
provide some feedback on the beta sanity.

Known issues:

- hyperconverged deployment doesn't work due to missing updated
gluster-ansible-roles packages

- ovirt-engine is still using ansible 2.9.27 and wasn't updated from 4.5.0
Alpha

- ovirt-appliance and oVirt Node have not been built with current content
of the testing repos as beta has been rescheduled

Be aware the RHEL 8.6 Beta has been released yesterday so you can already
try running on top of it.

Rocky Linux announced they're already building 8.6 beta as well so it may
be possible to start testing on top of it soon as well.

Professional Services, Integrators and Backup vendors: please run a test
session against your additional services, integrated solutions,

downstream rebuilds, backup solution on the released alpha release and
report issues as soon as possible.

Package maintainers please focus on closing open issues without trying to
push for new last minute features: those can wait for 4.5.1.

Remind that 4.5.0 GA is planned for 2022-04-12 so there will be space for
only one release candidate.

Can you please provide a list of the people who couldn't set labels?
Because according to GitHub all known developers have Triage permissions
and with that level of permission they should be able to set labels.

[ovirt-devel] querying which LUNs are associated to a specific VM disks

2022-03-18 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
I got a question on oVirt Itala Telegram group about how to get which LUNs
are used by the disks attached to a specific VMs.
This information doesn't seem to be exposed in API or within the engine DB.
Has anybody ever tried something like this?

Thanks,

2022-03-17 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Many thanks to:

- Diego Ercolani
- Tomáš Golembiovský

For having joined today's test day and reporting their findings.

And to:
- Benny Zlotnik
- Alfredo Moralejo Alonso
- Yedidyah Bar David

For having assisted looking into reported issues.

Today test day resulted with the opening / hitting the following bugs:
*RHEL:*
Bug 2065287 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2065287> - text
installation doesn't set correctly the keymap
Not reported: Node installation with Radeon HD 4350
<https://trello.com/c/G43P5xjy>

oVirt:
Bug 2065068 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2065068> - Too
large subtable console errors in engine admin portal
Bug 2065195 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2065195> - ETL
service sampling has encountered an error
Bug 2065294 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2065294> - ceph
support via cinderlib is failing due to too old python-psycopg2
Bug 2065152 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2065152> - Implicit
CPU pinning for NUMA VMs destroyed because of invalid CPU policy
Bug 2063112 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2063112> - imgbased
fails to handle grub config on CentOS Stream 9

oVirt Website / Docs:
Add oVirt Node 4.5-pre section #2787
<https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/pull/2787>
drop Language Support configuration option from node instructions #2790
<https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/issues/2790>
wrong link to host requirements #2786
<https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/issues/2786>
oVirt lifecycle points to RHV lifecycle #2785
<https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/issues/2785>
missing variable substitution on install guide #2784
<https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/issues/2784>
Table of content has wrong tree rooted on "oVirt Key Components" #2783
<https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/issues/2783>

The dedicated test day is reaching its end but it doesn't mean you can't
continue the testing.
As a result of today, I think we can say this alpha release has a very high
quality level (except for ceph storage issue which should be already solved
now).

[ovirt-devel] [ACTION REQUIRED] alpha compose delayed: ETA needed

2022-03-15 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
ovirt-engine build patch is still not approved/merged:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/pull/139
I also understood we need to wait for a vdsm new build too.

And following packages may still need a rebuild:
ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-jdbc
ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-ldap
ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-misc
ovirt-jboss-modules-maven-plugin

Please let me know the ETA for each of them ASAP.

Thanks,

Just a heads up that due to re-signing of rpms with sha256 happening in
copr, there are already 5686 tasks (+ 19312 others with lower priority) in
the pending state.

So be aware it won't take 5 minutes to get your build done.

[ovirt-devel] [Call to Action] oVirt 4.5 localization updated in zanata

2022-02-24 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi, https://zanata.ovirt.org/ has been updated with new text to be translated.
If you want to help with this, please follow
https://ovirt.org/develop/localization.html

The ovirt-web-ui and ovirt-engine-ui-extensions projects lack Italian,
Czech and Turkish translation.
The oVirt engine project needs some touch on all the translations but
especially on Italian, Czech, Russian and Turkish

Thanks,

As RHGS is going end of life in 2024 it is being deprecated for RHV.
The upstream Gluster project has no plan for going end of life as far
as I know so there is no reason to remove the possibility of using
gluster as storage backend in oVirt.
There's no plan to completely remove support for Gluster as a storage backend.

[ovirt-devel] oVirt 4.4.10 Async update #2

2022-01-26 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
On January 26th 2022 the oVirt project released an async update to the
following packages:

- ovirt-engine 4.4.10.6

Fixing the following bugs:
- [BZ 2044277 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2044277>] -
Replace ovirt-engine-extension-logger-log4j with internal ovirt-engine
implementation
Package ovirt-engine-extension-logger-log4j has been obsoleted and
replaced by internal ovirt-engine implementation in oVirt Engine 4.4.10.6.
During upgrade from previous oVirt versions to oVirt 4.4.10
ovirt-engine-extension-logger-log4j package is uninstalled if it was
previously installed.
If you used ovirt-engine-extension-logger-log4j in previous oVirt
versions, you will need to manually remove existing
ovirt-engine-extension-logger-log4j
configuration files and configure the new feature of sending log records
to remote syslog service according to the Administration Guide.
Also after successful upgrade to oVirt 4.4.10 you can manually uninstall
log4j12 package without breaking oVirt setup:
  $ dnf remove log4j12

- [BZ 2044257 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2044257>] - Bump
snmp4j library version to remove dependency on log4j
oVirt Engine 4.4.10.6 is requiring snmp4j >= 3.6.4, which no longer
depends on log4j library

This is the development mailing list. For looking for help on oVirt, I
recommend asking on user mailing list instead:
https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/us...@ovirt.org/ .
I assume you are following
https://docs.okd.io/4.9/installing/installing_rhv/installing-rhv-default.html

If the documentation there is not clear enough, I would recommend opening
an issue on https://github.com/openshift/openshift-docs/issues or
discussing it on https://github.com/openshift/okd/discussions

[ovirt-devel] Fwd: [CentOS-virt] qemu-kvm-core features moved to separate packages in CentOS 9 Stream

2022-01-24 Thread Sandro Bonazzola

-- Forwarded message -
Da: Miroslav Rezanina

Subject: [CentOS-virt] qemu-kvm-core features moved to separate packages in
CentOS 9 Stream
To:

Hi all,

There's currently MR [1] on review with changes making the packing
layout more close to fedora. This change unfortunately causes users
using qemu-kvm-core package (not qemu-kvm) to lose some functionality
as some submodules will be moved to separate packages so anyone using
these features has to install such package in addition to
qemu-kvm-core package. This change won't affect qemu-kvm usage as this
package will keep these packages as dependency.

These changes are going to be submitted soon so anyone using CentOS 9
Streams qemu-kvm-core package should check whether the functionality
is still provided by core package after the change or additional
subpackage is needed.

Hi,
I noticed today that all the repos in oVirt organization have a webhook to
https://snyk.io/webhook/github/ which seems to be some security scanner.

I couldn't find any reference about why we have such hook, can anybody
explain why it's there?

thanks

[ovirt-devel] Re: selinux for Ganesha absent in master?

2021-12-21 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi, as far as I can tell oVirt doesn't support ganesha.
+Gobinda Das , +Sundaramoorthi, Satheesaran
 can you confirm?
I see Ganesha mentioned only in
https://ovirt.org/documentation/gluster-hyperconverged/chap-Single_node_hyperconverged.html
but it doesn's seem to be used there as well.

lejeczek if you need ganesha you need to add
https://buildlogs.centos.org/9-stream/storage/x86_64/nfsganesha-4/ repo for
using it on CentOS Stream 9 . oVirt doesn't enable that repo as it's not
used in oVirt.

[ovirt-devel] Updates on oVirt Node and oVirt appliance building outside Jenkins

2021-12-02 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi, just a quick update on current issues in trying to build oVirt Node and
the engine appliance outside Jenkins.

1) Using GitHub Actions: an attempt to build it is in progress here:
https://github.com/sandrobonazzola/ovirt-appliance/pull/1
it's currently failing due to lorax not being able to perform the build. It
kind of make sense as we are trying to do a virt-install within a container
without the needed virtualization hardware exposed.
I'm currently investigating how to make use of software virtualization in
order to drop the requirement on missing hardware / nested virtualization.
Also investigating on how to use self hosted runners for providing a build
system with usable virtualization hardware.

2) Using COPR: we have basically the same issue: lorax fails not having
access to the virtualization hardware

3) Using CentOS Community Build System
This is a fully fledged Koji instance and it allows to build using the
image-build variant. It has a completely different configuration system and
it is more similar to what we are doing within the downstream build of
oVirt Node. An attempt of providing the configuration started here:
https://gerrit.ovirt.org/c/ovirt-appliance/+/117801
The issue there is that all the packages needed to be included within Node
and Appliance must be built within CentOS Community Build System build root.
The system has no external access to the internet so everything we need it
needs to come from CentOS infra.

I haven't started digging into oVirt Node but the build flow is very
similar to the appliance one, so once one is solved, the other should be
simple.

Hi, I documented the procedure here:
https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-site/pull/2644
Please review. Let me know if you want to do it yourself and take admin
responsibility on the project or if you prefer to just ask existing admins
to handle it.

@Lev Veyde  , @Sanja Bonic  can you
please review as well?

Thanks.

Yes, 1.0.2-SNAPSHOT from master is being installed *at runtime*.
But here we need it *at build time*.
So we need to add a BuildRequires line there.

The issue is that pom file is requiring exactly 1.0.0 and not >= 1.0.0. So
if a different version is installed, it fails.

Sure, I'll do. The build was a test to ensure CBS is able to build the
package.
I'll build 1.0.1 and then adjust the pom to require it instead of 1.0.0.

[ovirt-devel] ovirt-engine dependency on ovirt-engine-extensions-api

2021-11-26 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
In ovirt-engine pom.xml there's a requirement for build time
on ovirt-engine-extensions-api = 1.0.0.
This dependency is available on maven central so online build works.

Any clue on why we are not requiring 1.0.1
<https://search.maven.org/artifact/org.ovirt.engine.api/ovirt-engine-extensions-api/1.0.1/jar>
instead ?

We are packaging ovirt-engine-extensions-api during the development but it
ships 1.0.2.SNAPSHOT so when building in offline mode (needed for building
on CentOS Virt SIG) it fails as the 1.0.0 artifact was never downloaded.

I can rebuild ovirt-engine-extensions-api from 1.0.0 or 1.0.1 which are
available in maven central too as requiring explicitly 1.0.2.SNAPSHOT fails
with:
Failed to execute goal on project common-dependencies: Could not resolve
dependencies for project
org.ovirt.engine.core.manager:common-dependencies:jar:4.5.0-SNAPSHOT: The
following artifacts could not be resolved:

Any recommendations on how to proceed?

I rebuilt the needed packages within CentOS Virt SIG so the broken
dependency issue is gone.
But please keep the task in the backlog, we should stop using maven2
dependencies there.

[ovirt-devel] build failure for vdsm-jsonrpc-java on cbs.centos.org

Hi,
can you please have a look at
https://cbs.centos.org/kojifiles/work/tasks/8084/2608084/build.log ?
I think it may be related to no open network within the mock environment in
cbs.centos.org.
If so, how can I disable the test during the build?

The full task is here: https://cbs.centos.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=2608074

qemu-kvm component?

Sadly no, from my experience it's still fix in rhel first and then in
CentOS Stream, at least for systemd on CentOS Stream 9.
I would love to see fixes coming to Stream first.

[ovirt-devel] java-client-kubevirt in 4.5

2021-11-11 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
hi,
java-client-kubevirt is failing on missing dependencies:
package: java-client-kubevirt-0.5.0-1.20211108071009.gite0a0fe8.el9.src
from copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:ovirt:ovirt-master-snapshot
  unresolved deps:
maven-plugin-registry
maven-profile
maven-shade-plugin

I'm providing those dependencies temporarily with
ovirt-master-snapshot-static repo.
I kindly asked for them to be added to CentOS Stream 9
(see as example Bug 2017712
<https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2017712> - Missing
maven-shade-plugin in CentOS Stream 9 )
But the request was rejected.
We have a few options:
1) Ask for building on CentOS Stream 9 Koji instance at
https://kojihub.stream.centos.org/koji/ as that dependency is available
there in build roots.
2) Change java-client-kubevirt for not requiring those packages (bundling
the needed jar files within the .src.rpm?)
3) Drop java-client-kubevirt completely in oVirt 4.5
4) Rebuild the whole maven stack up to those dependencies within CentOS
Virt SIG and COPR.
5) Keep the "temporary" solution as-is

How should we proceed?

[ovirt-devel] ovirt-ansible-collection on el9

2021-11-11 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
repository closure on ovirt-ansible-collection reports broken dependency:
package:
ovirt-ansible-collection-1.7.0-0.1.master.20211108095017.el9.noarch from
copr:copr.fedorainfracloud.org:ovirt:ovirt-master-snapshot
  unresolved deps:
ansible >= 2.9.21

Do we need to provide ansible 2.9.z in CentOS Virt SIG for CentOS 9 Stream?
If not, can you please fix the dependency on el9?

Thanks,

2021-11-10 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi, just a heads up CentOS Stream 9 repo for x86_64 is broken.
Reported *Bug 2021809* <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2021809>
 - gcc and python3 dependencies broken
Both Jenkins and COPR are failing builds on x86_64 due to that.

[ovirt-devel] Re: ansible-runner in CentOS Virtualization SIG 4.5/el8s

2021-11-10 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Looking at dependencies:

`$ repoquery --whatrequires ansible-runner` shows no results.

`$ repoquery --whatrequires python3-ansible-runner` shows:
ansible-runner-0:1.4.6-1.el8.noarch
ansible-runner-service-0:1.0.7-1.el8.noarch
ansible-runner-service-dev-0:1.0.7-1.el8.noarch
python-networking-ansible-0:5.0.1-0.20211101132217.b82d349.el8.src
python3-network-runner-0:0.2.2-2.el8.noarch
python3-networking-ansible-0:5.0.1-0.20211101132217.b82d349.el8.noarch

So it looks like it would be safe to drop the ansible-runner package within
CentOS Virt SIG.
If needed we can cross tag python-ansible-runner-1.4.6-3.el8
<https://cbs.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=30640> into the SIG repo.

[ovirt-devel] ansible-runner in CentOS Virtualization SIG 4.5/el8s

2021-11-10 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi,
in ovirt-4.5 repo we have ansible-runner-1.4.6-1.el8
<https://cbs.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=31901> which also provides
python3-ansible-runner-1.4.6-1.el8.
But we are also consuming openstack-yoga repos and they are shipping
python-ansible-runner-1.4.6-3.el8
<https://cbs.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=30640> but there's no
ansible-runner package there.
This ends up with repository closure failure:
package: ansible-runner-1.4.6-1.el8.noarch from
ovirt-master-centos-stream-ovirt45-testing
  unresolved deps:
python3-ansible-runner = 1.4.6-1.el8

Do we need to maintain ansible-runner packaging in CentOS Virt SIG?
Should we rebuild ansible-runner with higher NVR?
+Martin Necas can you please look into this?

Thanks,

[ovirt-devel] Re: oVirt Community - open discussion around repositories and workflows

2021-11-10 Thread Sandro Bonazzola
Hi, here's an update on what has been done so far and how it is going.

*COPR*
All the oVirt active subprojects are now built on COPR except oVirt Engine
Appliance and oVirt Node: I'm still looking into how to build them on COPR.

Of those subprojects only the following are not yet built automatically on
patch merge event as they have pending patches for enabling the automation:
- ovirt-engine-nodejs-modules:
https://gerrit.ovirt.org/c/ovirt-engine-nodejs-modules/+/117506
- ovirt-engine-ui-extensions:
https://gerrit.ovirt.org/c/ovirt-engine-ui-extensions/+/117512
- ovirt-web-ui: https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-web-ui/pull/1532

You can see the build status for the whole project here:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/ovirt/ovirt-master-snapshot/monitor/
If you are maintaining an oVirt project and you want to enable builds for
CentOS Stream 9 or other architectures supported by copr please let me know.

So far, the COPR infrastructure seems reliable and working well.

*GitHub*
The following projects are developed on GitHub only:
- ovirt-ansible-collection
- ovirt-cockpit-sso
- ovirt-web-ui
- python-ovirt-engine-sdk4
- ovirt-engine-sdk-go

Within this list:
- ovirt-engine-sdk-go is not being built in COPR as the rpm is not needed
for developing with go and the automation is already handled on GitHub
actions only.
- ovirt-cockpit-sso is still triggering jenkins jobs but it's ready to drop
them as PR are now tested with github actions too and builds are handled in
COPR.

So far, moving the development to GitHub only seems to be working well and
I would suggest the maintainers of the oVirt subprojects to consider moving
to GitHub only as well.
+Sanja Bonic can help you enabling GitHub actions for
your oVirt projects so please ping her if you need help.

*CentOS Community Build*

I'm going to try building the same projects currently being built in COPR
also within the CentOS Community Build system in the coming weeks.
If you are already a CentOS Virtualization SIG member and you want to help
with this effort please let me know what you are going to build there so we
won't duplicate the work.
If you are an oVirt project maintainer I would recommend you to join CentOS
Virtualization SIG so you'll be independent releasing your package builds.

So, no, it's not monitored anymore.

I'll open a ticket to close https://ovirt-jira.atlassian.net/ and
