xfree86 emulation of VGA BIOS cards on powerpc platforms

2006-08-10 Thread jf simon

Hi,

For non x86 architecture, I understand that xfree86
is able to initialize (soft boot) PCI graphic cards, by emulating the VGA
BIOS extension located on the graphic card.

Does x86 VGA BIOS emulation for powerPC works in xfree86? We use a IBM Maple
platform (CPU is a ppc64 970FX) and would like to know if we could do it.
Thanks a lot,
-jf simon

It does work on some platforms. I'm afraid it's a case of try it and
see.
