Re: [Dhis2-users] Sharing settings

2017-09-14 Thread GROUT , Lise
Dear all,

I am sorry I missed all this exchange about the sharing settings problem. Thank
you for your interest in this!

You are right, I will already try to review the list of users having the
“add/update public objects”.

Actually, I see the solution proposed by Lars as a minimum : to be able, at the
moment of creating the object, to decide on the public vs private status of the
object. Ideally, this should be also available through csv import of metadata
then.

It would also be great if this could be one of the column of research, so that
you can easily identify which are public and which are not.

But the option proposed by Jason would even be better in my understanding.
Maybe I miss something. Here is my use case. We are 2 superusers of the NTD
instance. We have metadata for 6 diseases currently in the system. User working
on 1 disease may not be working on the other ones. And I don’t want the users
to see neither all the category combinations in pivot tables, nor all the
favorites in pivot table, gis or visualizer. For the moment, the superusers
are the one creating 90% of the metadata and favorites, and making them
available to the different diseases. I would see it more convenient to create
by default private objects and then to decide with which user group I want to
share it. Moreover, new department (non-NTD) are joining our instance. They
will have their own superuser for their part of the system. I understand I
should then not give them the “add/update public objects” authority if I don’t
want my NTD users to see their objects?

Best
Lise.

Hi,

I also share the issue raised by Lisa. For us the problem appears when
superusers are also regular users in the system: they can do typical superuser
tasks like creation of public data elements and data sets, and in other moment
they can do some analysis just like other standard user and they assume their
tables are private. And then they have to remember to remove the public sharing.

Maybe that is the same thing however Lars?

Otherwise, inexperienced users might have a hard time understanding that you
need to share it before anyone else can see it. A solution to this would be to
have a basic sharing UI inside the "add new" object screens, so that for users
with "create public" authorities, you can choose whether to make it public or
private before creating an object.

I think what Lisa is asking for is something we have seen a need for as well,
and that is basically that analytical objects and metadata should NOT be public

We have created a Jira that will mitigate this problem by allowing the

[Dhis2-users] Ambiguity in upgrade instructions

2017-09-14 Thread Edward Robinson
In the 2.22 upgrade instructions it says:
"The DHIS 2 configuration file is now called dhis.conf and has a range of new
and renamed properties. The hibernate.properties configuration file is
deprecated. Consult the installation guide for details."

In 2.25 it says:
"- The system will no longer look for a configuration file called
hibernate.properties. Instead use dhis.conf as filename. The configuration
properties in dhis.conf are different from hibernate.properties - read the
database configuration documentation."

Does this mean that up to 2.25, hibernate.properties will still work, or has it
been deprecated since 2.22?

Also in 2.22 instructions:
"A configuration property encryption.password must be set in case you would
like to take advantage of the new attribute value encryption feature. This
value should be a random string of at least 24 characters. You also need to
install the "Java Cryptography Extension (JCE)" on your server in order to
encrypt information. Consult the encryption installation guide for details."

We were using this in 2.16 - has something changed that it's mentioned in the
2.22 upgrade instructions?

Thanks!

Hi Gerald,

The two steps that are often ignored when configuring a data set are:

1) to add the data set to a user role

2) to make sure that this user role is assigned to the user who needs to
enter data for the data set

Maybe you missed out on those?

Re: [Dhis2-users] Linking Power BI and DHIS2

2017-09-14 Thread Michael Mwebaze
Hi Stanley,

you basically have two options for this.

   1. download data from dhis2 as csv and upload it to PowerBI (you will
have to create a dataset for that on PowerBI)
   2. make use of DHIS2 web api to pull data and push it to powerbi via its
web api as well. To achieve this a number of things need to happen on the
PowerBI side. You will need to create an app on the Azure platform, give it
the right authentication permissions, then use the token created in your
custom script of application to authenticate and update a particular
   dataset.

If you are interested in code repository, I have a working example based on
Symfony 3 a PHP frameweork in my git repository.

https://github.com/mmwebaze/powerbi_Symfony

I hope this helps.

2017-09-14 Thread Sultanahamar Mohammad
Hi Edoardo,

Do we have some documentation across this chartPlugin.load function. We are
using 2.26 and we are planning to upgrade as well to 27.

Sultan Ahamar.

Re: [Dhis2-users] Installation of DHIS2 on Windows 10 Laptop

2017-09-14 Thread Knut Staring
Hi Francis,

It is still connecting to H2 instead of Postgres (database type: H2).

One possibility is that this is because your file has aquired an unwanted
extension like .txt. It looks to you as if it is called dhis.conf, but in
reality it is called dhis.conf.txt

You can also just delete the top rows in dhis.conf, those that relate to H2.

To run DHIS2 on your laptop, you dont need MS SQL, Tomcat or
Xampp. You can just use DHIS2 Live, and connect to Postgres.

Re: [Dhis2-users] [Dhis2-devs] High charts developer guide.

2017-09-14 Thread Edoardo Sabadelli
It also depends on which version of DHIS2 you are running.

The chartPugin.load() syntax is available for all 4 apps from 2.27.

Before that, Data Visualizer and Pivot Table plugin should work with
chartPlugin.load() (at least from 2.25), while Event Visualizer and
Event Reports need the old syntax.

I'm relative new to DHIS2, started working on it since 2.27, so for
older versions someone else should help :)

Re: [Dhis2-users] [Dhis2-devs] High charts developer guide.

2017-09-14 Thread Sultanahamar Mohammad
Hi Edoardo,

Below is the kind of code that we used for EXTJS based plugins. We want to
understand the same for Highcharts based plugins.

DHIS.getChart({
url: dhisUrl, el: chart.id, id: chart.id, type: chart.type,
relativePeriodDate:
PeriodGeneratorService.getNextPeriod(chart.relativePeriods,
selectedPeriod, dateFormat),
width: width, height: height, dashboard: true
});

Re: [Dhis2-users] [Dhis2-devs] High charts developer guide.

2017-09-14 Thread Edoardo Sabadelli
I understand.

One way would be to save a new favorite with the desired relative
period date and load that favorite in the script.
If you want to pass the chart configuration directly in the script, it
would be helpful if you can post the code you are using.

I'll fix the example in the documentation, as it has a couple of
syntax errors and missing parts.

Re: [Dhis2-users] [Dhis2-devs] High charts developer guide.

2017-09-14 Thread Sultanahamar Mohammad
Hi Edoardo,

This example talks about loading existing charts, but what we want is to
load them but use a different relative time period.

For example if a chart has time period last 6 months then, it would load
last six months of data (aug, jul, jun, may, apr, feb 2017)
but what we want is to set the relative time period different like I want 6
months of data starting june of 2016 it will be (jan, feb mar apr may jun)

Thanks,
Sultan Ahamar.

Re: [Dhis2-users] [Dhis2-devs] High charts developer guide.

2017-09-14 Thread Edoardo Sabadelli
Hello!

It seems that the example in the documentation
(https://docs.dhis2.org/master/en/developer/html/webapi_plugins.html#webapi_chart_plugin)
is incomplete.

The instruction for actually loading the favorite/custom chart config
is missing:

This is the command:

chartPlugin.load(r1, r2);

Have a look at https://github.com/dhis2/charts-app/blob/master/plugin.html
for a working example.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
