[digitalradio] MF Tele Type 3.0 Beta released

2009-01-04 Thread Norbert Pieper
Hi,

the MF Tele Type 3.0 Beta is released!
It took me 3 weeks of hard work to implement essential features.
Now it should be much easier to operate MFTT on any bands in SSB mode.

Here the News:
- Reduced CPU load at lower speeds

- Bandwidth of Tone-Matrix reduced (no longer compatible with V2.0 or
lower)

- FFT Spectrum Display added

- sending of Center-Frequency-Pilot-Tone added to ease initial tuning
and detection of speed. Just select the Pilot tone in the FFT Display
by Click and Drag (see screen shot of MFTTy home page)

- Two AFC Functions added: Pilot-Tone-AFC and Regular-Signal-AFC

- Tune-Meter Display added

- Two Buttons added: andfor manual fine tuning.

- Option added for changing Tx Center Frequency

Feel free to download from MFTTy home page
http://www.polar-electric.com/MFTT/

Your improvement suggestions and feedback about bugs is welcome.

Looks like they did pretty much the minimum necessary to keep the thing
working and support radios that have been released in the past few
years.

There's a history.txt file in the distro:

QUOTE
MixW 2.19
- Rx window highlights URLs like http://site.net or mailto:m...@server.com
and posts according system request on doubleclick
- files Custom1.dat and Custom2.dat contain a list of log fields for
the corresponding log layout. Each of these files looks like
this:
8--- Custom1.dat ---
1 MODE
2 FQRX
3 FQTX
4 DATE
5 TIME
6 CALL
7 RSTSNT
;8 EXCHSNT
9 RSTRCV
;10 EXCHRCV
14 DOM
11 NAME
12 QTH
;15 COUNTY
16 IOTA
17 MGR
13 NOTES
;18 ENDDATE
;19 ENDTIME
20 LOC
8-- end of file
Lines which begin with ; are ignored, so fields EXCHSNT,
EXCHRCV, COUNTY, ENDDATE, and ENDTIME are absent in this
example. You may change the order of lines (and according
columns) but do not change the numbering, i.e. CALL should
always have 6 at the beginning.
- The following CAT systems are added:
  - Yaesu FT-2000, FT-950, FT-9000D, FT-450, FT-1011
  - Kenwood TS-2000, TS-480
  - Ten-Tec RX-350, OMNI-VII, ORION-II
- Rotor control added for FT-2000, RC2800, WINROTOR
- Added support for upcoming FSK441m and JT6x modes
- ADIF SRX_STRING tag is added
- Up to 25 lines in the log bar
- Interface Setup Wizard (See the Configure menu) will help
setting up MixW to operate with RigExpert interfaces
(Plus, Standard or Tiny models)
- MixW2 /setup command line option will also start the Wizard
- New macros:
CATTRANSVERTER:shift_in_Hz - allows working with different
transverters
STARTRECORD2 - writes WAVe file from the second input channel
SHOW:RIGEXPERTS - lists connected RigExpert interfaces
- Hungarian language file is added

Sounds like the RX audio level is too high. Can you reduce the level?

[digitalradio] 8 ohm or 600 ohm audio transformer?

2009-01-04 Thread doug_tara2005
Hi,

I've been experimenting with various audio interface(s) from my radio
to my sound card. Some suggest using 8 ohm transformers and some
suggest using 600 ohm transformer. I'm confused as to why would they
suggest using a 600 ohm transformer. The audio output from radios are
8 ohm. The audio output from sound cards are also 8 ohms. Why would I
use a 600 ohm transformer?

Right now I built the interface by KD5ZUG with 600 ohm transformer
and it seems to be working correctly, but I'm wondering if it could be
better. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
